Villa in Cala Murada, Majorca, Balearic Islands - Peaceful Location, 10 Minutes Walk to the Beach, Child Friendly
Nancy and Martin Ling
About Nancy and Martin Ling
Hello, we are Martin and Nancy. Martin is an Optometrist and Nancy spends her days looking after the house, garden and in particular Pumpkin the dog. We live in England near the North Norfolk coast. We have four children between us, Wesley, Courtney, Rachel and Harry. We love to visit the villa as often as we can, and one day hope to retire there.
Nancy and Martin Ling purchased this Villa in 2009
Why Nancy and Martin Ling chose Cala Murada
We prefer the east coast of Majorca as it is very quiet, and in particular Cala Murada because although the village is 'open' all year round it never gets busy, the locals are all friendly and if you need more - entertainment, provisions, medical needs - nothing is too far away. We chose to buy new rather than old as we are not able to visit frequently and the up keep of a new build is much less than that of an older property. The east coast is famed for it's small secluded coves, which we love to seek out a different one each day.
What makes this Villa unique
Our home is approx 100 metres from the communal pool, a 3 min drive or 10 min walk from the local beach, has all the amenities you would expect to find in a modern home but does not lack in space. All the rooms have very high ceilings, each of the main living areas have their own individually controlled air conditioning. There is loads of storage in the house with double built-in cupboards in both bedrooms, and 2 more double built-in wardrobes at the bottom and top of the stairs. There are 2 local supermarkets with the one in the main village supplying fresh bread and pastries daily. During the day or night the area is very quiet. In the evening whilst eating supper on the terrace, the sky is so clear, the stars are so bright with the only sound being the chirp of crickets.

Wonderful relaxing holiday
We have stayed in Majorca on several occasions but never in Cala Murada area, it was beautiful with lovely beaches. The villa was immaculate and well equipped. The booking with Martin was seamless and he was quick to respond to any questions. The communal pool area was a short walk from the house and very quiet most times we visited. A car is a necessity when renting the villa as most amenities and beaches are a drive away. The towns of Calad'or and Porto Cristo are only a short drive away (approx 20 minutes) and there are some nice restaurants and shops. We would recommend the villa and would have no hesitation in returning. The only negative thing we would say, very minor, but we arrived morning after leaving home early hours in morning and it would have been great if there had been some sort of small welcome pack, maybe just some milk and water for a drink. We had to go straight out after dropping luggage to find a supermarket .
We would like to thank Martin and Nancy for renting their home to us we had a great holiday. Angela, Gary, Lily, John and Isla x
Second time we have stayed at Martin and Nancy's villa, previously staying in 2014. Had a great holiday again and will no doubt be returning again in the future.
Excellent family holiday
We have just returned from a fantastic first family holiday together in this villa. Everything was perfect and has allowed us to create excellent family memories that will last a long time. The shared pool is a short walk away and has an excellent baby pool, perfect for our young daughter. The pool was quiet and it was nice to share it with mainly German and Spanish people, which we really liked, not a Brits abroad type place. Our daughter Sean for the first time with her armbands in the main pool - what a great memory to have from the holiday.
The surrounding area is lovely and clean, very peaceful and exactly what we were looking for. I would strongly recommend car hire to allow you to see the local area. We found a bar owner by the marina (quarterdeck) in Cala D'or who told us about little beaches in portocolom frequented by locals. Fabulous shade from the trees for our daughter and so scenic. Our daughter played with Spanish children and had a lovely time.
The villa is very well equipped, the kitchen especially. Great air conditioning in the bedrooms and the living room too. Very impressed with the extras for children - high chair, toddler booster seat, step to allow kids to reach the sink and a stair gate.
Martin was excellent in his communication with us - very quick to reply to any messages we sent.
This is not the place to come if you want a busy pool, noisy evenings and lots of English folks about. However, if you want to relax and enjoy peaceful surroundings, I would highly recommend this property.
Another wonderful holiday
This is our third visit to this property. The villa is clean and well equipped. The surrounding area is clean and quiet. Local good value restaurants are also a short drive away. Communal pool, is a hit with the children too.
Did exactly what it said on the tin!
This is an excellent family villa in a quiet and extremely pleasant location. The villa is well equipped. It is spacious, with a family friendly kitchen (though we made more use of the super BBQ), good sized bedrooms and bathrooms. There was access to a private pool, which was rarely busy and we spent a lot of time there.
There were some small local shops, but would strongly recommend that anyone booking this accommodation hires a car, as access to the beach and local supermarkets is distant. Palma is about 50 minutes away by car, but Cala D'or is barely 15 minutes drive.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation , Martin was extremely helpful, with good advice on local area.
Excellent quality in a central location.
Many thanks for allowing us to stay at your villa. It was tastefully furnished and very well equipped. We had several BBQs and enjoyed relaxing on the balcony taking the occasional shower to cool down - phew it was hot! The villa is ideally located to tour the east coast or towards Santanyi etc. we intend to return with friends or family.
Pinars de Murada is located in the region of Calas de Majorca on the east coast of the island. This east coast consists of numerous coves and sandy beaches the closest of which is Cala Murada a 10 minute walk away. The beach shelves gently into the sea, sun beds and shades are available to hire on a daily basis, a life guard is on duty during high season and there is also a beach front restaurant offering snacks, meals and drinks.
Pinars de Murada is only a 50 minute (44 miles) car journey from the international airport in Palma. It is recommended that you hire a car to allow you to make the most of your holiday, and with all major car hire operators having a base in Palma airport pick up and drop off couldn't be easier. Since the opening of the newly constructed motorway leading from Palma to the east of the island, the journey is quick and straight forward.
Once in Murada you are in the ideal location for exploring the east coast. The renowned harbour of Portocristo is a 15 minute drive away and that is also were you will find the beautiful Caves of Drach. The charming fishing port of Porto Colom is 10 minutes south, this is were you will also find the stunning Val d'Or golf couse.
The good local supermarket is a 10 minute walkaway or 2 minutes in the car. The villa owners will ensure that provisions such as milk, bread, cheese, ham a selection of fruits together with bottled water, wine and beer are available on arrival. The village centre has all the services you would expect to find such as banks and restaurants. The resort is quiet and generally relaxed but if you want a more lively evenings entertainment then that is available in Cal d'Or approximately 20 minutes drive to the south. The neighbouring villages of Cales de Mallorca offer all the usual beach side services you would expect to see in a Spanish seaside town including many restaurants, bars, a night club and a small children's theme park open in the evenings. There is a bus service that operates regularly to Cala D'or, Antanyi and Palma and also a local taxi firm in the village. For families with children the excellent water parks of Aqualand and Aquacity are a 45 minute car journey away. From the local area are many things to do, including boat trips along the coast, horse riding, tennis and water sports. Fifteen minutes north by car is the stunning Caves of Drach with one of the largest underground lakes in the world, were concerts of classical music are performed daily.
