La Vitaille is set in the glorious rolling countryside of the Lot et Garonne and on the border of the Dordogne Region. Set in a small hamlet, La Vitaille is situated between the villages of Seyches and Allemans-du-Dropt. It is also near the pretty towns of Duras and Eymet both 15 minutes drive. Bergerac airport is a 40 minute drive. The closest bars, restaurants, boulangeries etc are all a short drive away. La Vitaille is a perfect base for visiting the local vineyards and chateaux of St Emilion, Monbazillac and Bordeaux. The local area comes alive in the summer months with night markets, wine fairs, brocante and antique fairs. The large house is comfortable and extremely well equipped with everything you require for a relaxing holiday. It is ideal for large family groups and easily accommodates 14 people. The pool, huge garden and the games room in the cellar make it a perfect place for children of all ages. We have a cot, 2 high chairs and stair gates.

special family holiday home
We have been returned again and again to this wonderful farmhouse in a beautiful part of France. The pool is a joy with lots of space to relax around it. The house comfortably accommodates our two large families and includes a spacious kitchen, living room and table tennis table in the basement. There are plenty of spaces where a large group can gather together, but also spaces in the house and garden where you can sit quietly away from the group. This house has become a very special place for our family and we wholeheartedly recommend it to others.
Thank you very much for your review. We are so pleased that you love our house as much as we do and that it has become a special place for your family. Frances
Much loved family holiday house
We are two families who have returned to La Vitaille in 2016 after a year away and it truly felt like coming home. Frances, the owner, is continually looking to improve the property and this year there were three newly refurbished bathrooms. She is friendly, efficient and helpful to deal with. The house is very well managed in France by an English couple. It is spotlessly clean on arrival and the pool is tended to very regularly. Our children (ranging in age from 7 to 15) love the freedom the space gives them, the table tennis and football tables in the basement, and in particular the pool. The adults love the pool surrounded by loungers, the shaded terrace down one side of the house and the well-appointed kitchen - easy to cater for large numbers. We would highly recommend this house and will certainly be returning ourselves.
I am so glad you love our house as much as we do. I am always pleased when our guests come back again year after year.
Brilliant stay, the house was fantastic, it was big with plenty of room for the whole family! The children loved the swimming pool and the games room was a big hit! Stair gates were provided so we could relax and not worry about the children with the stairs. Lovely area, lovely neighbours, holiday was enjoyed by all! Thank you, from The Solomon Family.
I am delighted you enjoyed your stay and hope you will come back another year. Frances.
A wonderful property away from it all.
The property was very spacious and well equipped for a large group such as ours. The weather was fantastic so we spent most of our time outside although there were plenty of things to do inside should the weather be not so kind.
If you are looking for a house to hold a large family that is set away from the beaten track then this fits the bill.
Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We are so glad you enjoyed our property and that there was plenty of space for all of you.
We just keep going back!
We are a party of 3 families who spent our third holiday together at La Vitaille this summer and have just booked the next one! Every time we go, we say we must 'move on' next time and explore another area. But every time we come back and book again!
We love the spacious and relaxed house and that each family can have 2 bedrooms and a bathroom each. Home from home with all the equipment you need to cater fully etc. The cellar is great for losing the kids, we even turned it into a party venue this year for a 13th birthday.
Adults' favourite space is probably the terrace - morning coffee in the sun, afternoon reading/snooze in the shade, eating al fresco, aperitifs venue, star gazing at night.....
Children's favourite space - the pool of course!
When we manage to drag ourselves away to explore there are endless options for everyone.
Make sure you don't miss the night markets!
Thank you so much for your review. We are delighted when families enjoy La Vitaille as much as we do. We also love it when our guests return. My favourite place is the terrace for all the same reasons, particularly the star gazing!
A very spacious and lovey holiday rental
The property is as described by the owner and is very well equipped.
There was a new washing machine, tumble drier and a massive new boiler so hot water was always on tap.
The kitchen is huge with plenty of plates, glasses, knives, forks and spoons etc so we never ran out.
The lounge is also a nice relaxing place to sit and I can imagine that in the middle of winter the property would feel very warm and homely with the log burning stove.
The TV has just been replaced with a nice High Definition LG Smart TV linked to a Freesat box which had all the normal English channels.
There was a new BBQ which we used twice and we spent the evenings out on the covered veranda area at the front of the house.
The children really enjoyed the cellar/basement where there was a table tennis table and table football.
There was also plenty of inflatables for the large pool which we all enjoyed.
The property is located in a very quiet location so a car is essential as the nearest supermarket is approximately 15 minutes away (Lidl at Miramont or Casino at Marmande)
The property was clean and tidy when we arrived and as we arrived very late due to problems on the Eurotunnel, the complimentary bottles of red and white wine was very much appreciated.
Frances (the owner) was very friendly and kept us well informed on arrangements and following the holiday, she made a courtesy call to check that we had enjoyed the property and the holiday.
I would certainly recommend this property to friends and relatives and as it can sleep 14, you could easily share with three families.
If you enjoy very good wine at very reasonable prices, then you should try Domaine de Laplace which is a 15 minute drive.
Wines are priced between 4-6 Euros per bottle and they are very good quality. This includes their sparkling Blanc de Blanc which is very similar to Champagne (Method Traditionale)
If you are travelling from England by car, I would strongly recommend staying for 2 weeks as it is a 600 mile drive from Calais but well worth the journey.
Well recommended !!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review. We are delighted that you enjoyed the property as much as we do and hope you will come again. Frances.
The beautiful beaches of Arcachon are about one and a half hours drive from Vitaille and well worth a day trip.
Bergerac airport 40 min drive. Bordeaux airport 90 min drive.
Channel ports 8-10 hour drive. A car is essential. Car hire is available at both airports.
The Dordogne valley, with its many chateaux and pretty villages such as La Roque-Gageac, Beynac and Domme, is a 40 min drive. The beautiful city of Bordeaux is a 90 min drive and makes a fantastic day out for shopping or culture or both! Duras and Eymet, both lovely market towns with bars, shops, restaurants and banks are a 15 min drive. Issigeac, a charming medieval village, is a 35 min drive and its Sunday market is a must. St Emilion is less than an hour and well worth a visit.
There are large supermarkets found locally in Miramont 15 mins and Marmande 20 mins. The local Boulangerie at Escassefort is a 5 min drive. There is a great butcher, boulangerie, small store, pizza bar, tabac, petrol station and restaurant in Seyches which is our local village 8 mins. Canoeing is available on the Dordogne and also at the nearby village of Allemans-du-Dropt.
