Le Cognassier and Le Cerisier were originally 18th Century stone barns and we have converted them into beautiful holiday homes. Decorated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard, they are brimming with charm and character. With families in mind, we have blended modern comforts with our quirky vintage finds to create stylish and relaxed interiors. Set within a blissfully tranquil, walled garden the gites offer a haven of peace and an opportunity to escape to the countryside and experience the simple pleasures of French life. Within striking distance of large towns and the stunning beaches of the Atlantic coast, they also provide the perfect base for exploring this beautiful, unspoilt region. Our aim is for you to completely relax here so we have equipped them with everything you need to feel totally at home.

About sue paine
We have lived in France for 10 years and our children have grown up here enjoying the freedom of rural life. Over the years we have gathered lots of local knowledge and can recommend places to explore and restaurants from family friendly to gourmet dining. We work continually to keep the gites and gardens ship shape but are always happy to stop and chat to our guests and get to know them. Our children are always on the lookout for new playmates too! If you are considering buying a property in France we will gladly share our experiences (good and bad!) over a glass of wine. Our passion for antique and vintage living has led us to create our online boutique which sells original French furniture and accessories.

Why sue paine chose La Croix-Comtesse
Many people comment on how peaceful and pretty it is here, whilst being very accessible to all local amenities, including bar/restaurant and pizzeria within walking distance. We love this region of France as there are so many things to see and do in the area. You can do something every day for 2 weeks and still not see it all. The area offers fantastic cycling opportunities as it is fairly flat and the roads are very quiet even in high season. We even have a bike company who will deliver and collect from your gite! With young children of our own we realise how difficult it is to please everyone but we think we've cracked it. Mum and Dad get a chance to kick back and relax whilst the children play. Harry and Lucy will happily challenge anyone to game of cricket!
What makes this Villa unique
Our properties offer superior quality and a relaxing retreat away from it all. The interiors are styled with a French look, furnished with vintage and antique items (nothing too breakable) to create a luxurious yet comfortable environment to enjoy your holiday. The walled garden is extremely safe for young children with a gated and fenced swimming pool. This gives you the freedom to relax, knowing that the little ones are safe.
