About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 bathroom (sleeps 6) Right next to 5 star Kempinski Hotel and Laguna Village, all 3 on the beach.

There is only a lawn, a narrow promenade (no road) and the beach, between the MARAZUL Resort and the Sea, and it is very close to Estepona Town.

A vast sculptured swimming pool complex and glorious gardens are at the centre of this exotic and tranquil resort, enhanced by flowing canals, fountains, cascading waterfalls, a giant overflowing bowl, character islands, sunken deck-chairs, jacuzi beds, pool-bar, and romantic thatched cabanas with lovely comfortable armchairs & settees. All this surrounded by lush & exuberant semi-tropical gardens, leisure centre, and only 72 super-luxurious apartments.

These apartments are arranged in an appealing "V" shape, facing South.

The open end of the "V" is purely beach & sea!

The resort is designed in such a way as to provide each apartment with the intimate privacy that one may expect from a private villa, AND with the views and facilities normally not !

This raised ground floor apartment with spacious terrace & private lawn is only a stone's throw from the beach & Sea, is perfectly situated right on the edge of the shallower inner pool, and it overlooks all the stunning pool areas, those spectacularly colourful gardens, and the glorious blue Mediterranean Sea beyond. Watch the fishermen drawing their nets into their boats from the comfort of your own bed !

The large area provided by the terrace and our private lawn can be rendered child-friendly by the easy erection of the provided trellises to cover the openings in the front garden, and a gate to secure the 5 privacy steps down to the pool-side.

I've left the very best to the end.....Estepona !

Of all the major attractions along the coast of the Costa del Sol, Estepona stands out from the crowd, and it is only 5 minutes in a taxi from MARAZUL along an extremely attractive tree-lined boulevard with lovely fountains, or a 30 minute amble along the promenades and beach.

Estepona is the focal point of this coast because of its authentic and unspoilt Andalusian atmosphere.

Estepona is a real living Spanish town of 30,000 souls. The ebb & flow of Estepona’s daily and seasonal rhythms moves very much as it has done for centuries, reminiscent of another unchanging ebb & flow, that of the shimmering turquoise sea rippling up it’s beautiful wide sandy beach.

The pace of life of the inhabitants, whilst perky in the morning, slows right down as the sun reaches its highest point, only to erupt into lively exuberance as the sun sets and the young and old alike fill the quaint narrow cobbled streets, the atmospheric cafes, superb sea-food restaurants, and the locals' tapas bars in all the pretty squares.

Unbelievably, the local council have recently located 40,000 colour-coded plant-pots full of gorgeous flowers on the walls of the houses in the "Old Town". What a treat it is to walk around this area !

Estepona's brand new orchid house is a lovely addition to our floral displays, and you just must partake of a "mural tour" and "Brian's tapas tour" to see all the best corners of this the most colourful and interesting town in Spain.

I've owned Spanish holiday-rental properties for 20 years. This is my second apartment, bought off-plan in 2006.

The best advice I was given before buying a rental property in Spain was that the first 3 considerations should be:- Location, Location & Location!

I followed that of the properties I bought are front-line to the close to the sea as the law allows, and with stunning views!

Both have had high quality leisure centres on the resort, so that holidays can be enjoyed at any time of the year.

We all work very hard to provide exactly what is oasis of peace, pleasure, and luxury on a vibrant and exciting coastline.

Why Brian Colling chose Estepona

In my opinion Estepona is the only "real village" left on this coast-line, and I wanted to be part of it. But the problem with purchasing a property in the town, is that you can't have exotic swimming pools and a leisure centre and handy parking and lovely gardens and you're hard-pressed to find somewhere with a decent view.

So I chose the best thing, an apartment 30 minutes walk away from town, and got all the things I wanted, with the added advantage of being right next to the 5-star Kempinski Hotel. Then some nice people built the Laguna Vilage on the beach just 5 minutes walk away, and that was just the icing on the cake for me.

Buying off-plan in 2006 was not for the feint-hearted, but that's another story !

What makes this apartment unique

I like walking along the beach into Estepona, but it can be hard work, and even quite adventurous, because you may have to wade through streams in the winter, and sometimes in the spring & Autumn too ! But for those with posh shoes and sensitive feet, there's a nice alternative walk along a tree-lined boulevard and promenade.

In the evening it can be a hard dine in one of the 5-star Kempinski Hotels' luxurious restaurants overlooking the deep blue Mediterranean Sea, or in Cruisos beach bar with your feet almost in it ! Or, for somewhere in between, you could choose to dine in one of the Laguna villages' delightful white beach-tents !

But our perfect around tapas bars in Estepona eating tasty morsels at the bar !

"We stayed in Brian's apartment (E5) which is everything you see on the website and a whole lot more! My husband and I along with our 2 and 4 year old girls stayed here for 2 weeks and absolutely loved it. The apartment is spacious, immaculately clean, very well equipped with lots of extra touches which made us feel completely at home. The Marazul complex is beautiful and it's hard to put into words just how nice it is. We would sit on our garden terrace, overlooking the ornate pool and gardens which is finished off with a sea view - pretty perfect! The girls loved the pool as it has lots of segregated shallow areas for them to play safely. Our 4 year old also really appreciated the "high five" she received from the lifeguard each time she swam the length of the glorious pool!

If it just gets too hot outside, you can rely upon the superb air-conditioning system to keep you cool in every room. The sunny climate on the Costa del Sol is normally your guarantee that you'll enjoy a lovely memorable holiday but what if there's an odd stormy day or a cool spell in the off-season? It could be enough to spoil your holiday in many places, but not at MARAZUL! Just crank up the under-floor heating (thermostats in every room), wind-up the air-climate controls, bang on a fluffy robe (provided) & you'll be as snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug. (Note...the price you pay includes all the electricity you use.) But perhaps you're the active type & you won't be happy unless you're doing something physical. No problem. My guests at MARAZUL have free and unlimited use of our own indoor leisure club, with heated pool, jacuzi, sauna, hot-baths, spa, fully-fitted gym etc. Free WiFi. MARAZUL really is uniquely suitable for all ages, from the youngest kids to Grandma and Grandad. Outside, we have a dining table & 6 chairs on the terrace, 2 further very comfortable loungers, & 2 "deck-chairs". All are provided with thick cushions. The large area provided by the terrace and our private lawn can be rendered 'child-friendly' by the easy erection of the provided trellises to cover the openings in the front garden wall, and a gate to guard the steps down to pool-side. The outside pool area is massive. Right at the front of MARAZUL, next to the beach, is the main ‘infinity pool’. The design makes you think you're swimming in the sea! There are loungers with umbrellas on both sides. Inward from that is the fun area of the pools, with thatch-roofed cabanas (with comfy arm-chairs and sofas), underwater jacuzzi deckchairs, cascading waterfalls, fountains everywhere (some spurting from our lovely wooden bridges) and a giant overflowing bowl! Inward again from that is the upper pool area, from which water flows along pretty canals, great for our younger guests to play in. For our younger guests we provide 2 cots, 2 high-chairs, a children's buggy, and a baby bouncer, at no additional charge. For our older guests we provide a shopping trolley ! Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels, robes, & bed-linen provided. We ask guests to take their own beach-towels. If a holiday extends to over 10 nights, a mid line change is provided, included in the rental price. Additional cleaning services can be provided as an optional extra. Other: The light and airy dining area is conveniently situated adjacent to the kitchen, with a feature marble serving-hatch between. The 6 graceful chairs, attractive white wood dining table, and mood-lighting, combine to create the perfect dining ambiance.

Stunning amazing villa and complex

Stayed for 9 nights with my wife,and my daughter,granddaughter and partner cane to join us for 5 nights.Brian certainly knows how to rent his villa out as he has catered for every need anybody would require,Swimming pool is amazing as is the garden and gym in fact we could not fault the complex at all.The beach immediately in front of the complex is a bit of a let down as it is extremely stoney and neglected that said a 5 minute walk to Laguna beach and you will find beautiful soft sand and sun beds. I would recommend a car if you stay here they are so cheap and you can really get to see some beautiful beaches and other areas.We have already booked to go back next year

A real home from home

We stayed at Brian's apartment for 9 days. We felt that having all the key details from Brian before our trip, we could make the full use of all the facilities and local attractions on offer.

The apartment was as described - ultra luxurious - and was totally what we needed for a fabulous holiday. The apartment was spotlessly clean, extremely well fitted-out with very comfortable beds, pillows and sofas. The outside table, chairs and loungers was a lovely touch and the outside area a lot for meals and relaxing.

The kitchen was very well appointed, with cupboards full of crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment . Having tablets at the ready for dishwasher and washing machine was excellent, meaning that We didn't have to go out and buy a full packed.

Brian was very thorough in giving us full information about how everything worked and who to contact in an emergency. Not that we had any incidents out of the ordinary but it was very pleasing to know that there was 24hr help at the reception desk if required.

The resort did not seem full even though it was high season, which made the whole stay even more pleasurable as the swimming pool and lounger area never got busy. At night times, it was blissfully quiet so we were able to sleep very well, our 3 year old daughter included.

We would highly recommend a trip over to Laguna Village. We went to Camuri there twice and La Papardella restaurant once. The table service and the food of the two restaurants was amazing. They catered for our daughter very well so we were very pleased. I would recommend that you book a table as it can get very busy there!

There appears to be a boardwalk under contstruction which will bridge the river Padron between the Hotel Kempinski and Laguna Village which previous reviewers have noted is not possible to cross in the winter months. At the time of writing, the area has been marked out and building work has started. We can't wait for it to be finished and ready for when we visit again next summer. The boardwalks are very pleasant to stroll along in the evenings to feel the breeze if you stay during the summer when it gets quite hot during the daytime!

We also visited Ronda, which took about an hour to reach and was well worth it.

The staff at Marazul were very pleasant and welcoming. Mimi was very helpful in explaining about our keys and the car parking and the general ground staff were always polite and welcomed us every morning when we went to the pool. A fantastic stay!

A wonderful place to stay, arrived late t at night to a warm welcomed by staff. What a place to wake up in, the apartment was spotless, bright and every thing the brochure said..

Perfect stay in luxurious Marazul-Resort

We stayed at the Mar Azul in Brian Collings beautiful apartment for the 5th time now.

Although we were every time in the summer holiday at Mar Azul, it was always a very relaxing and quiet stay. This year we also had a wonderful and pleasant holiday.

The apartment itself is very spacious and luxurious. The furnishing is very pretty and modern. The apartment E5 was every time very clean and tidy. It is also cleaned once a week during the stay.

Before we came to Mar Azul we often wrote E-mails to Brian Colling. He always answered very quickly and his E-mails were helpful and friendly. For our first stay in his apartment he gave us a detailed description for the way from the airport to Mar Azul and many recommendations for day trips and restaurants.

Beside Estepona, which is also a very beautiful city, this area offers many different opportunities for visiting bigger cities around such as Marbella, Ronda, Cadiz, Malaga, Tarifa…

In Estepona has just opened the biggest Orchid House in Europe, which we also visited. It was a great trip and the admission was for free.

We have never seen such a great pool area like in the Mar Azul. It is very big and that’s why there will never be a problem to find a place to lie on a sun lounger. But we prefer to lie on the terrace of apartment E5, because this year Brian added to the existing two sun loungers two more deckchairs, so that we (three people) could lie there very comfortable.

The sea is also just a few steps away from Brians apartment. The beach is pretty empty and quiet and perfect for collecting shells.

In the evenings we sometimes cooked something in the well-equipped kitchen, because the supermarket Carrefour is only a few minutes away from Mar Azul. In the other evenings we ate something in the restaurants and tapas bars in the city of Estepona or in the Laguna Village, which is also just a few minutes away.

So all in all it was an amazing holiday with many great impressions.

We will definitely come back!

Fantastic Holiday at the very beautiful Marazul

My Husband and I booked Brian's Apartment for 8 nights in June as our first ever family holiday with our 10 month old son. After what seemed like endless research I found Brian's listing for Marazul here on owners direct and thought it looked perfect. We had never actually done a self catering holiday before (pre baby we loved nothing better than a plush hotel where we could be waited on hand and foot for our annual holiday) and I was worried about booking direct with someone and having a baby with us might make it the holiday from Hell. However i need not have wasted my time worrying as from the moment I contacted Brian everything about this holiday ran smoothly.

Brian sent me a very detailed document with everything I needed to know about the apartment and the grounds at Marazul along with plenty of tips and suggestions for activities in the area. He also gave us excellent directions from the airport.

Brian's Apartment (E5) was ideal for us and the attention to detail at this apartment was second to non. Travelling with a baby out of the country for the first time on holiday was daunting but our son had a wonderful time which in turn made for a very relaxing holiday for us.

The photos above do not even do the apartment justice ... its even nicer and is exactly as described "luxury beach-side apartment". We arrived late and Brian had the cot already set up for us, a bottle of wine on the table and a pizza in the freezer. ( this was a lovely touch at 11pm tired and hungry ) Our son had a bottle and went straight to bed.

The terrace was just lovely to sit out on at night and during the day we could put up the umbrellas for our son and he played happily out there. We had shade from 4pm which was great and if you wanted to sit for longer the pool had ample sun beds.

For anyone traveling with children this apartment is great as you are a few steps from the pool and there were plenty of shallow areas too. the terrace also had a removable gate and fence and there was plenty of space inside the apartment too. Brian supplied a travel cot, a high chair, a buggy and even has the bedroom equipped with uk/Irish plugs so no need for adapters. There are Two large bedroom, a twin and a double and two bathrooms (en suite off the master room). The kitchen extremely well equipped and the living area are lovely too.

I would highly recommend this property and hope to return again.

From my apartment it's a 1 minute amble to the beach, via the side of the main pool, across the front garden & promenade, and down a few steps to the beach. Four minutes later you could be entering the lovely gardens of the 5* Kempinski Hotel for a cocktail. Or continue on for a further 4 minutes along the sand to the Laguna Village, a unique and exotic collection of cafes, bars and restaurants built right on the beach! Five minutes beyond that is the modestly priced magical Cruiso's beach-bar.


Malaga Airport is about 50 minutes away, and Gibraltar Airport only 35 mins away.

A car is not essential when holidaying at the MARAZUL-RESORT, but one would be useful for shopping, though a new supermarket has opened just 5 minutes walk away, and I've provided a shopping trolley! There are several bars & restaurants within easy walking distance. A very good taxi & bus service operates along the coast. Buses stop very close to MARAZUL every 30 minutes. It's just a 5 minute ride to Estepona.

Water-skiing, jet-biking, wind-surfing, sailing, & rides on an inflatable can all be arranged at peak times from the beach just five minutes walk away.

There's a horse-riding school nearby, and two tennis clubs.

Sea fishing trips and dolphin cruises operate from Estepona.

At “Funny Beach” in Marbella there are bumper-cars, go-carts & mini-bikes.

The amazing Selwo Safari and adventure park is only 5 minutes away.

Of all the major attractions along the coast of the Costa del Sol, lovely Estepona town stands out from the crowd, and it's only 5 minutes in a taxi from MARAZUL, or a 35 minute walk either along the beach, or along an extremely attractive tree-lined boulevard with lovely fountains & borders full of flowers, and then onto the promenade.

Estepona is the focal point of this luxury resort area because of it’s authentic and unspoilt Andalusian ambiance.

The promenade here is a joy to walk along, with beach-bars, fountains, sun-shelters, and children's playgrounds just lined up ! And where else would you come across an area of exercise machines for adults only!

We've quite often walked along the beach from MARAZUL, and along this beautiful promenade, to the characterful Estepona Marina. Here there's a great atmosphere around the water-edge bars, cafes and restaurants, particularly on a Sunday when the market is on.

5 minutes walk beyond the Marina is one of the nicest beaches you'll find anywhere. The sand slopes down very gradually into the Sea, so it's very safe for kids. There are a couple of beach-bars, plenty of loungers & umbrellas, and nice relaxing background music. Bliss !

The walk back through the back streets of Estepona is enchanting. We think we know it well, until we discover another quaint narrow cobbled street leading to yet another pretty square surrounded by flowers, tapas bars, cafes, & superb sea-food restaurants.

Booking Notes:
I ask for a 250% deposit on booking, and for the balance to be paid 8 weeks before the holiday.

Changeover Day:
We try to be totally flexible on arrival & departure days, though we do generally ask our guests not to arrive before 3pm. and to vacate by 10am on day of departure. If the day involved is not a "changeover" day, then we try to be flexible on that too.

Notes on prices:
I am happy to negotiate special prices for extended Winter holidays, such as 4 weeks for the price of 3.
I am also happy to negotiate low-occupancy discounts except during peak periods.

If a holiday needs to be cancelled, I will refund any monies paid as long as I have the opportunity to re-let, less any additional advertising expenses to do so.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
