Apartment in Dunas Douradas, Nr. Vale do Lobo, Central Algarve - peaceful location minutes from pool/beach

This spacious, bright, first floor apartment is situated in a quiet location of the resort, and is within a short walk to all the facilities of Dunas Douradas. These include a very large outdoor pool, a baby pool, a lovely terrace with lots of sunbeds, 2 tennis courts, Xenia the restaurant with its lively bar and the main reception. It is within a 20 mins. walk to the beach or 5 mins. drive. The mini market is beside the clubhouse.

The open plan layout of the apartment gives a feeling of light and space and as you enter the whole apartment opens up in front of you right through to the south facing covered terrace overlooking landscaped gardens.

The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and microwave, conveniently located beside the dining area.

The guest bedroom and its adjacent shower/WC room is to the right of the entrance. Here there is also a large walk-in lockup area where buckets and spades, beach body boards and additional blankets and duvets are stored. This can also be used as a lockup for any valuable items.

The south facing master bedroom floods with sunshine in the morning, it has a double bed and an ensuite bathroom. Both bedrooms have air-conditioning units (hot and cold). The living room is very tastefully furnished to ensure easy holiday living and has a flat screen TV with cable TV, a DVD and radio/CD player. The main sofa has a pull-out bed.

Wi Fi for internet connection is available free of charge in the apartment.

MINIMARKET: There is a small mini market near the main Clubhouse which stocks the basics. In the summer it is open each day, in winter it has set times (please check these at Reception).

TENNIS: There are two tennis courts within a 3 minutes walk from the property. A resident coach is available. The courts can be booked through the main Reception.

Within a 5 minutes drive are the 14 courts of the Vale do Lobo Tennis Club and there are weekly programmes of coaching and competitions. In Quinta do Lago, there is also Jim Stewarts Tennis Academy for weekly roll-ups.

RESTAURANTS / ENTERTAINMENT: There is an immense choice of restaurants for all tastes and budgets. Information and recommendations are available form Reception or found in the info booklet in the apartment.

There are two shopping centres within a 10 minutes drive from the resort. At the Buganvilia shopping centre you will find cafés, an Italian restaurant, an Indian restaurant, and an upmarket Japanese Sushi & Steak house. During July and August, a classy nightclub/bar is open.

Quinta Shopping is an elegant open area of luxury shops and restaurants, outdoor cafés and potted trees, creating a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy lunch, dinner or just an evening drink at the nearby pub, the Melting Pot. Here you will also find 3 very upmarket restaurants, catering for most palates. If all you're looking for is a lunchtime salad or baguette, Deliti or Cubo are the perfect place.

We bought the apartment because we felt that Dunas Douradas (which means golden dunes) is the perfect spot for a wonderful holiday, whether you're a family or a couple wanting a sunny break. Although it is set in a quiet location within the resort, the apartment is close to all the facilities of the clubhouse, and the beach is just a 5 mins drive away. On the beach, sun shades and loungers can be hired, there are water sports available in the summer months and the beach restaurants are open all year. Within a short drive there are also lots restaurants and nightlife. For golfers, there are many golf courses in the area. Families can relax knowing they are in a safe environment.

What makes this apartment unique

Dunas Douradas is a fantastic resort for a holiday for families or couple as it is so near the beach and there are so many facilities nearby.

We provide beach/pool towels so you don't have to bring those with you. There's always a good supply of buckets, spades and body boards for the kids.

The resort is very secure and the apartment is just a short walk to the pool, the restaurant Xenia, tennis courts and minimarket. The great thing about having a restaurant/pub on site, is that you can have a lovely relaxing evening and walk back to the apartment without having to worry about drinking and driving. Perfect!

Excelent. location. Very nice well equipped property.

The property was very clean, well maintained, with very good communication with the owner. It is in an excellent location within 1 minute walk of a lovely gated private pool with extremely good restaurant and bar food club and has two tennis courts. Highly recommend.

The apartment was perfectly situated near to the reception, pool, tennis courts and Pool bar and restaurant. It is about 10 minutes stroll from the beach where there are other bars and restaurants. The complex is well designed and constantly being tidied and manicured to a very high standard. The apartment is very well equipped and furnished and the owners being local means that if there is any thing one needs they are on hand.

I fully recommend this apartment and although it is not inexpensive you get what you pay for.

The long sandy beach of Dunas Douradas is a 15-20 mins walk away and just 5 mins by car. There are several beach restaurants overlooking the beach and sea, many of which remain open during the winter. In summer, water sports facilities are available and sunbeds and sunshades can be hired for the day.

Water sports are also available on the lake of Quinta do Lago.


Dunas Douradas is a 25 min journey to the airport. As there are many facilities at Dunas Douradas and restaurants are within walking distance, a car is not essential.


The nearest town Almancil is about 10 mins by car. Vilamoura is a 20 mins journey by car. Vale do Lobo is 5 mins by car. The nearest nightclubs are 5 mins by car.

The nearby Quinta Shopping is an elegant shopping area with shops, restaurants and cafés and a pub. Pleasant surroundings in the attractive plazza to enjoy a coffee or a light lunch. Banks, supermarkets are all available within a short distance. Within walking distance from the townhouse, the clubhouse at Dunas Douradas has a very large outdoor pool, a terrace and pool bar, a restaurant, a minimarket that is open 7 days a week during the week. There are also 2 tennis courts and a resident coach is available. Within a short drive there are the 14 courts of Vale do Lobo Tennis Club and in Quinta do Lago is Jim Stewart's Tennis Academy. Nightclubs of Vale do Lobo and Quinta shopping are within 5 mins by car.

Booking Notes:
Booking is done through the owner of the apartment. 50% of the rental cost is required upon booking as a deposit. The balance to be paid 30 days prior to arrival. Payment accepted by cheque or cash, in sterling or in euro.

Changeover Day:
Saturday changeover is preferred, however during the less busy season; other arrival days can be accepted. Entry to the apartment is usually around 3pm and departure should be 10.30am. Early/late flights please let me know and I'll try to accommodate.

Notes on prices:
Rental prices are in Euros. Payment in sterling accepted. Long winter lets considered, price on request. Late bookings may be discounted depending on availability and not in June to end August. 3 or 4 nights bookings considered (not possible in July or August).

  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
