Why John and Susan Behrens chose Iznájar
We've always loved Spain and the Spanish. We particularly fell for this area because of the proximity of the lake, the distance from the coast (not too near!), the distance from the airport (not too far), the shape of the countryside and the warmth of the local people. We love being able to get to the main roads quickly and still be able to be peaceful at home. The views were a bonus.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
We quite often have people to stay so the days take two styles ; either we are off early to sight see somewhere - there is so much choice around and the roads are convenient in every direction; or we hang around locally - walking, horse riding, playing tennis and swimming, or even reading, writing and painting - sometimes just chatting and sleeping. we have also discovered sea kayaking with the grandchildren! There are several restaurants near by that we really like, so we quite often eat out a bit, even though we enjoy cooking. The owner of one of them will even cook especially for you for a special occasion. There are a number of fiestas and ferias in the neighbouring villages during the year and it is fun to be around when they are taking place.

Great place to stay
Great place to stay. Well equipped fantastic pool and glorious views across the valley. Very peaceful
1 week stay in Iznajar with kids and grandparents
Lovely farmhouse with well maintained pool, plenty of outdoor space to eat in the sun or shade and easy access to local amenities. The surrounding olive groves are beautiful and you feel in the middle of countryside, even though it is only a 1 km drive down to the nearby restaurants and a BP garage where you can get milk, wine, beer etc. Plenty of space for a family of 6 , great BBQ and kitchen facilities. Iznajar is only a few miles away and a great place to visit for amazing views across the lake, a few cafes and bars, butchers and small supermarket. We also enjoyed a trip to Antequera just 45 minutes away with amazing fortress and some great tapas bars. The churros at La Antequera were top notch and I can well recommend this cafe for a pit stop. All in all a great place to relax and use as a base to explore this stunning part of Andalucia.
Relaxing and remote with great places to visit.
Beautiful traditional house in rural area. Well equipped, comfortable living and fantastic pool. Near enough to visit Grenada, Cordoba, and Nerja. Local bar very welcoming with good food and table football and pool table. Happy days.
Thank you for choosing to stay at our house. We’re so pleased you had a good time and we’re happy there.
Wonderful and very well equipped villa
We had a glorious week at this villa, it had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Beautiful location, lots of space, great outside courtyard for eating and a gorgeous pool.
Thanks for your review. We’re so glad you had a good time.
Damp, not clean and not able to put loo paper down the loo. Would not stay again.
As yours was the first rental of the season and a week that we had given for a charity fundraiser, we so wanted it to be perfect for you and were very sorry that it didn't work out that way. We personally spring cleaned, including all the drawers and cupboards and outdoor furniture, at the end of March and aired everything. However there was an unprecedented rainfall in April which I'm afraid none of the local Spanish country houses coped with well. It is a shame that you didn't contact myself or our agent immediately and we could have addressed your concerns while you were there.
It is always helpful to have feed back and we will add airing to the cleaner's tasks if a similar situation recurs.
As far as the loo paper is concerned, I'm afraid that, other than in the cities, in Southern Spain it is not permitted to put loo paper down the loo as the systems don't cope. Bins are always provided.
We loved the salt water pool nestled in the hills
This traditional stone house looks out over the hills and is perched amongst olive groves. The thick stone walls, shady courtyard and terraces make for a tranquil and cool hideaway from the midday sun. Eating dinner on the terrace under the vine was charming, with the handy "pool kitchen" nearby being very practical. The salt water pool was a particular treat and safely fenced off to suit those with children. We stayed in the little "apartment" off the courtyard and enjoyed the extra space of a separate living room and private bathroom from our friends in the main house. The aircon was extremely effective, though the traditional design off the house meant that we rarely needed it.
There is a large sandy beach on Lake Iznajar 8km away where non-motorised water sports are permitted (paddle boats and kayaks for rent in the summer) and where you may swim. Fishing is permitted with a licence. The Costa del Sol with its many and varied beaches is an hour away.
Good airports are Malaga (1 hour) and Granada (45 mins). Car hire is affordable and available at either airport and is essential to make the most of your stay.
