A cosy cottage in a privileged natural environment (Sleeps 4)

This little country home is set in the Chira basin and offers a tranquil and private delightful natural environment. Inside, the house accommodates 4 persons in two bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom with all the basic needs for a comfy stay with also Satellite TV. Outside the house, the spacious terrace overlooks the beautiful valley and it is perfect to enjoy outdoor meals in the covered barbecue area. Next to it, the heated pool invites swimming all year round.

Perfect for those seeking a peaceful rural retreat and families with kids, it is also a dream for mountain and hiking lovers as there are many breathtaking walks in the surrounding countryside.

Heated Swimming Pool:: The 7m x 3.5m swimming pool (1.25 and 1.75m deep) is situated on a terrace with magnificent views across the valley. The south facing orientation ensures the area takes advantage of the sun throughout the day and its elevated position often brings a cooling breeze for a welcome relief to the heat of the summer. The whole area has been fenced to provide security for children but in such a way that this does not affect the views from the swimming pool.

Activity holidays:: The house is in a location which is great for outdoor sports and adventure activities such as hiking, bycicle tourism and mountain biking with many routes within walking distance and a great variety of difficulty levels. There are many old tracks that used to connect the various towns and villages from the coast to the summit which converge at the Chira basin with delightful spots to enjoy magnificient views over the Pilancones Natural Park and the neighbour island of Tenerife. You can also enjoy rock climbing and free fly in this natural Gran Canaria.

Lovely house and garden

The house was lovely and clean and the garden well kept and colourful. The area is suitable for a quite holiday and great for walking. We did not find any shops or restaurants near. So shop before you arrive and enjoy your time at the house. Beatriz was very helpful with the booking.

Wonderful remote house away from other tourists - perfect for a relaxing holiday!

Great location in centre of the island, perfect for exploring both the mountains and coast. Wonderful house with lovely swimming pool and

fantastic outdoor kitchen. Doing a large shop at the supermarket close to the airport before you arrive at the house is definitely recommended. There are small local shops around 15 minutes away, but with limited selection. All in all the perfect place for a relaxing holiday.

Great location

If you like walking then this is the place to be! Most of the best walks on the island are within a 20minute drive of here. Stock up well on your way up as the supermarket is over an hour away. There is a good shop in Santa Lucia which is 25mins away. There are also a few good restaurants there as well. The house has a nice rustic feel about it and has a great outdoor BBQ / eating area. The pool was very welcoming on a daily basis, my only complaint would be the roller for the pool cover does not work very well so a lot of hard work and effort goes into removing it!

Our stay March 2011

This is a charming and cosy little house with great outdoor space set in beautiful flower strewn valley (in March anyway). A car is a must as it is off the beaten track and make sure you stock up before heading up the mountain as its a long way to the shops!

Once there, the scenery and walking is stunning and my 2 girls (3 and 5) loved the dry river beds, flowers and of course the pool.

Its cold at night up here so bring a fleece and warm clothes in winter and spring. Don't expect a hectic night life, but if you want peace and quiet and a proper chillout, bring books, stock up the fridge and give it a try. The owners are helpful and communication is simple and strightforward by email.

a bit disappointed

We, a family of 4 spent one week end of December in the house which is rustic but nice with the pool, the patio, the wonderful view, the lemon and orange trees, the outdoor equipment and the weather (a bit cold though). The house is completely isolated which is very nice on one side but with some drawbacks on the other side that you have to be aware of. Indeed, you have to know that it takes 20-25 min to go to the first restaurant and 40 min to go to the first (small) supermarket with a crazy road. It takes 1 hour 15 min to reach the beach (which is very great, especially Los palomas) again via a road made of (at least) 350 turns. Despite the fact that the house is isolated, it was not quiet simply because of the continuous barking of a few dogs during the day and...during the night (but maybe we were not lucky). The final negative point was the temperature of the swimming pool: it never exceeded 20-21°C unlike what we have been told before the stay and during the stay (and despite the use of the "cover" during the night!). Anyway, the contact with Beatriz before and during the stay were extremely good and very professional.

Finally, I would suggest the owner to give a better description of the different places to go like restaurants, supermarkets, walking trails...

Tolles Haus in absolut ruhiger Lage

Haus und Grundstück inkl. Pool sind wirklich traumhaft, sauber und entsprechen absolut der Beschreibung. Vielleicht etwas wenig Stauraum für Kleidung, die ein oder andere Glühbirne (inkl. der im Kühlschrank) gehört erneuert und am Gasherd sollte man die eine Elektroplatte besser nicht verwenden, den ruck zuck ist die ganze Hütte dunkel, weil die Sicherung rausfliegt, besser nur auf/mit den drei Gasflammen kochen. Die Lage könnte man als "fernab vom Schuss" bezeichnen, was so ja auch in der Beschreibung steht, aber vor Ort sind die Dimensionen doch noch mal anders. Es gibt zwar einige Häuser in der Umgebung sowie auch eine kleine Bar, aber das war's dann auch schon. Als Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen ist die Lage gut, der Stausee sowie diverse Wanderwege liegen quasi direkt vor der Haustür. Aber man will ja nicht jeden Tag wandern gehen, nä?!? Fünfzehn Kilometer bis zum nächsten (kleineren) Supermarkt hören sich zwar nicht ganz sooooo schlimm an, gefühlt sind es jedoch eher 30 bis 40 KM, da man aufgrund der Serpentinen und teilweise recht engen Straßen nicht wirklich zügig vorrankommt. Da iss nix mit eben noch mal schnell los, weil man was vergessen hat.....

Die Vermieter sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit, kommen 1x wöchentlich um Pool & Grundstück zu reinigen sowie die Betten frisch zu beziehen.

Fazit: wer's wirklich ruhig will und wem die weiten Wege nichts ausmachen, der ist in dem Objekt bestens aufgehoben und fühlt sich sehr wohl.

A short walk down the road from the house takes you to our small village of Cercados de Araña, with its basic amenities, whilst the waters of the Chira reservoir can also be reached on foot encouraging even the laziest to make pleasant strolls around. The restaurant La Candelilla is always open and it is just at 6km. For further amenities, the attractive hillside town of San Bartolomé de Tirajana with its glistening streets of whitewashed houses is 15kms away and a pleasing range of local restaurants can be reached at the same distance, whilst the coast is 30kms away with the best beaches of the island like Maspalomas and El Inglés and beside them are the Salobre Golf course and Aquapark.

Other Activities: Archeological sites, birdwatching and gorgeous stars at night.
