The Villa Dama De La Sierra is set in a stunning position overlooking some of the prettiest whitewashed villages in Andalusia. Having spectacular views of the mountains and the coast from Malaga Bay in the West to Nerja in the East. As the sun begins to set, you will start to feel the fresher cooler mountain air and as the shadows lengthen, then give way to truly breath-taking sunsets. The villa is situated on the hillside in the National Park on the footpath to La Maroma, at 2069m (6,828ft) the highest peak of the Sierra Tejeda-Almijaral mountain range which towers over the villa. The setting is beautiful, very quiet with no background noise from any roads and is located by the side of a private lane. An ideal base from which to explore the area, go to the beach, walk-in the hills, or just relax by the private pool. Get the barbie on and have a glass of chilled wine with friends and family, you have found paradise.

About Anthony & Andrea Neale

We have a big family of four boys and now grand children too. Going away on holiday was always difficult and trying to please everybody was hard and in many instances proved a disappointment.

Why Anthony & Andrea Neale chose Canillas de Albaida

We decided to buy our own Villa in Spain and design and build our own holiday experience. It had to be suitable for all of us to use and enjoy coming year after year. One of the main reasons for choosing this area of Spain was for the weather (the best climate in Europe). It is also superbly located to lots of different activities that we and the boys really enjoy, skiing; golf; paragliding; walking; horse riding; kite surfing you get the idea, lots to do and see. The Villa must comfortably accommodate the nine of us. Giving us plenty of room, so that we are not to trip over each other and invading each other’s space.

What makes this villa unique

We added a games shack and play area that is located away from the Villa. Therefore, those that want to be quiet and read, swim, or simply soak in the Sun can do so. We placed DVD payers in all bedrooms, this allows for some quality “me” time, while watching one of the hundreds of the films we have. This arrangement has proved successful with our family. We look forward to getting together here but we can all still do our own thing, without annoying anybody else in the process. The Villa and all its thoughtful details have been designed specifically to have a great holiday, in a great location. This too has proved a big hit with our guests. The proof of which is over 25% of our bookings are made by previous guests returning, some for the forth time.

Notes on accommodation: Part air-conditioned, with central heating and log fire. A drinks chillier located in the pool house is filled with bottle beers, wines, bottled water, soft drinks and mixers. A small charge on each item is made over the supermarket price. The amount consumed can be replace like for like, or can be deducted from your bond and any balance is returned to you. Outside: A private pool for the sole use of the guests. Individual sun-lounges can be easily moved around the 3 terraces to stay in or out of the sun during the day. A BBQ area and outside eating area is available with stunning views of the sea. Utility Room: Washing machine, iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Quality cool bed linen changed each week. Beach towels and bath towels included changed each week, or as required. The villa is professionally cleaned between letting weeks and during your stay as required (a separate charge applies). Other: Games shack with pool table, a 32" LCD TV and Nintendo Wii games console, board games. Outside play area for football & basketball, full size table tennis, mini tennis set, swing ball, badminton set, pertanque. Fun for all the family.

As a party of four adults, and three teenagers, we visit this area of Spain every Easter. This was our first stay at this villa and it exceeded all our expectations.

It's further up the mountain than we normally go, but we are used to the windy roads and the views are absolutely breathtaking. Located on the very edge of the national park the surrounding scenery is stunning. There are numerous well marked walking routes connecting the numerous tiny villages nestled in the valleys. Apart from the occasional goat bells the location is as peaceful as you can get, a real gem of a place to get away from it all.

The surrounding villages all offer restaurants serving fabulous food at incredibly reasonable prices (we did a huge amount of eating out).

The villa itself was immaculate and, I feel larger than the photos suggest, there was plenty of room for two families. It was spotless and very well appointed. If we hadn't eaten out so much we would have found everything we needed in the kitchen and all of the little touches inside made it feel like home. The games shack was a huge hit with the kids as was the table tennis table that was in constant use. The villa was the best we have stayed in in all our travels in Spain.

It was a pleasure to liaise with Anthony, the owner, who made the stay and arrival at the villa very smooth. The welcoming jug of sangria went down very well.

There is no negative criticism I can give to the villa or it's location, it made for the perfect holiday, we had a fabulous time and can't wait to return.

Horse riding with extensive trails up into the mountains, for all abilities. We are able to offer GPS guided walks in the mountains from outside the front gates of the Villa. Paragliding holidays with tandem option for those who want to have go. We also have a Satellite Navigation system available for your Hire Car with the pre set destinations and ‘home’, so you will never get lost.

Car hire is essential to fully appreciate the area. 50 mins Malaga airport, 95 mins Granada airport. An airport pick up service is available and car hire waiting at the villa if preferred. Turn-by-turn sat nav available at the villa with some popular pre set destinations. This is a real time saving device.


Archez 5km (3 miles). Competa 7km (4 miles). Veles-Malaga 18km (11 miles). Nerja 37km (23 miles). Malaga 57km (36 miles). Alhambra Palace Granada 100kms (63 miles). Gibraltar 200km (123 miles).

Within 7 mins drive of: great restaurants and bars, discothèque, shops, bank, doctors, dental surgery. Taxi available to Nerja and the coastal strip. Good bus service into Torrox from Competa if required.

All bookings confirmed with a 25% non refundable deposit. The balance is due 8 weeks from the date of arrival. Payments are accepted by, personal cheque and bank transfer. Final balance to include £150 damage bond. Refunded by Inter-bank transfer after a satisfactory inspection, within 7 days. Fair usage of electricity 30 units for each rental night, additional units 0.10p. Gas central heating and logs are available if required at 12 Euros per day, payable locally.

We will work around our guests needs and be as flexible as possible.

Notes on prices:
Rates shown are per bedroom required per night. A minimum of 3 bedrooms may be rented during May, June, July, August, September, Easter and Christmas. Two bedrooms may be rented at other times with a supplement of £100 per week (pro-rata). Example 2 bed option in April = £25pn x 2 bedroom option = £50pn x 7nights = £350 + £100 supplement = £450. 3 bedroom option in June £31pn x 3 bed = £93 x 7 nights = £651 per week.

  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
