Helios Court Villa is a modern build in a style that pays tribute to the classical Venetian heritage in the architecture of Corfu. Sitting comfortably in its private surroundings the villa provides beautifully appointed 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, luxurious, spacious and thoughtfully laid out accommodation with numerous areas to bring you together to socialise or that allow you to find a quite space away even from those we love most.
The tranquil location enjoys views to mountains, sea and the most fabulous sunsets that this part of Corfu is famous for. Features include full air conditioning, optionally heated pool, Broadband & WiFi coverage throughout, a well-appointed kitchen, gas bar-be-que, indoor and outdoor dining areas, 2 flat screen TV areas with a range of English language programmes, BlueRay and DVD players, stereo with CD, iPod and phono' jack.
Our elegant villa is situated in a quiet residential area within 500m of markets and tavernas and only 1500m from the gently shelving sands of Arillas beach and its Blue Flag, warm, shallow, protected waters and also close to several more of the best beaches on the Island. Arillas is a peaceful family resort with a great choice of places to eat and drink rather than somewhere to party the night away. On a two week stay you could easily eat at a different place every night. We are yet to have a bad meal. Greek food is a vastly underestimated delight.
Our Villa has the most fabulous outdoor space surrounding the 8m x 4m main pool plus half moon shaped paddling pool that can all be optionally heated to suit you in the cooler months (add £25 per day). The deep end of the pool still allows the playing of volley ball which we greatly enjoy. The quiet and private pool terrace is a gated and walled suntrap, protected from wind. There is a shaded pergola covering a sofa and armchairs around a drinks table. Two 4m Parasols give optional shade to the 6 sunbeds.
The shallow half-moon paddling pool can be optionally separated from the main pool area for the safety of children.
The Veranda facing the pool terrace provides ample outdoor dining space for six and can extend for drop in friends, there is a large gas fired bar-b-que. (gas is provided)
Under the other covered veranda at the front of the house is a little table and chairs ideal for morning coffee or reading in the afternoon shade whilst listening to the Cicadas.
Upstairs on the sun terrace is a large circular sofa set where we enjoy gathering to enjoy the magnificent sunsets over sundowners. There is a large parasol here too and the sofa set is designed to be easily pushed together as a double sunbed for a further sunbathing area.
Helios Court provides ample parking for numerous cars.
The 3 bedrooms are arranged as a romantic Kingsize Master Suite with its ensuite shower room and 2 spacious twin bedded bedrooms. Each room has a capacious wardrobe and cavernous chest of drawers. There is a combination safe and a Hairdryer is provided in the master suite.
The two twin bedrooms share a large family bathroom with both a shower cubical and bath.
Optionally a cot can be provided and will fit in any of the bedrooms for our smallest visitors.
The Great Room
At the heart of our villa is a large family space that provides ample indoor dining, a well equipped kitchen and a small seating area served with satellite TV and a DVD player allowing supervision of your small guests while preparing food. Satellite TV here covers a number of children's favourite channels, news and Sky Sports for those "can't miss" events.
Our compact kitchen holds a surprising amount of modern equipment. This includes a gas cooker, with oven, a large fridge freezer, microwave, 4 slice toaster, kettle, cafetiere, blender, juicer etc. There are ample cooking pots and serving dishes as well as table and glass wear. With time and such fresh ingredients you might be tempted to prepare something extraordinary!
We provide a welcome pack for your arrival of basic provisions but please let us know if you would like us to provide more extensive shopping on your behalf or indeed if you would like to be catered for during your stay on a particular evening or longer period.
Upstairs "Chill Out" Sitting Room
The luxurious, light-filled, sitting room upstairs is separate enough from the downstairs as to not disturb the bedrooms. Comfortable sofas are arranged around a large table, ideal for playing the range of games stored with a surprising number of books for you to enjoy in the book case.
Here you will find a CD stereo with an iPod Dock and Phono Jack to allow most media players to pipe your choice of music. There is a 50" LCD Flatscreen TV upstairs with a Blueray Player. The TV channels popular English language series and movies via our Netflix account.
Please feel free to bring CD's, DVD's or Bluerays to suit you.
We can upon request provide separation of the main pool area from the shallow half-moon paddling pool. Care should of course be exercised but this gave us comfort with toddlers. We can also provide stairgates, a baby changing mat, high chair, hand held blender, baby listener and even a baby sitter! All the trarraces are high enough to contain a child and the columns are spaced for safety.
We found most villas fairly fraught with dangers for young families and designed ours with the lessons learned from years of such holidays and with the owners’ experience as a qualified child care professional.
In the square near the villa is a small childrens playground.
We provide both Bathroom and Pool towels which are changed midweek. Please bring beach towels should you wish to us them.
We do not provide baby linen for hygiene reasons.
There is a parking space by the gate to the pool terrace allowing paved access directly to the pool area. We have a ramp available to allow access to the dining veranda. This has been used to park a mobility scooter in the past. Only a small lip separates the veranda from the downstairs of the villa which is sized to accommodate a wheel chair. The Master Suites' shower is lipless and will facilitate access. Please inform us though if you require a shower chair. The toilet facilities do not however have grab handles etc. The road down to the beach can be negotiated by wheel chair but thought should be given to pushing a wheelchair back uphill to Helios Court. Successful holidays have been enjoyed by both rather elderly and visitors with limited mobility.
We recommend Arillas Car Hire should you feel you need a car for your stay.
We regularly don't hire a car for our trips but we are a family that enjoys walking and our children are of an age where they don't need to be carried any more. The main beach is only 1500m (under a mile away) but if you have elderly relatives, toddlers in pushchairs etc. then you might want to consider this option. Car hire is available quite reasonably on a day rate basis in Arillas as are dune buggies, quadbikes, bicycles, etc. to suit all pockets.
Be aware there is quite a steep slope for 100 Metres of the 1500m walk.
Helios Court Villa is a strictly non-smoking accommodation.
Stag and Hen groups
No. Never. Arillas isn’t that kind of place.
Corfu is the Green Gem of the Ionian Islands in the turquois of the Greek Mediterranean. The Island itself was made famous by the books of Gerald Durrell with readers falling in love with its climate, wildlife and the quirky warmth of its widely English speaking people. Over 100,000 Britons visit Corfu each summer and it is served directly by BA from Heathrow, Easyjet and Ryanair. Arillas is a peaceful village by the sea in the North West of Corfu about 40 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Corfu Town and its international airport.
The village has proven most resistant to change over the years and most of its tavernas, restaurants and small hotels are family owned and operated and passed through generations. Arillas has largely avoided the financial calamities of other parts of Greece in recent years. There is a cash machine in the village we have never known to be empty.
The long beach is narrow and gently shelving which makes it ideal for families. Although nudism is strictly illegal in Greece it is tolerated at the very northern end of the beach past he headland, due to a long history of naturalist, yoga, meditation centres in the area. There is certainly something very spiritual about this part of the world. You will bump into many tourists who have been coming to Arillas every year for decades and really can’t put their finger on why. The warmth, honesty and genuine hospitality of the people is unique in our experience of global travel.
Arillas has a couple of bars and numerous restaurants and tavernas but it is nothing like the tourist hot spots of Sidari (only 6km away) or the more developed resort of St Stefanos which is still within a walk of our villa.
We chose to make our second home in Arillas and we hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do.
