Lovely spacious house in Villamblard
We had a great time staying at La Petit Foret and found it really relaxing. The house is very spacious with a good size pool and a lovely garden. We enjoyed using the pool once we mastered the pool alarm, although the water was a bit chilly early in the day.
Being within walking distance of the centre of Villamblard was a real bonus and meant we used the local shops, went to the bar for pizzas, and to the annual flea market and evening celebrations with fireworks during our stay.
The bedrooms are all of a good size and there are 2 bathrooms (1 ensuite) plus a couple of loos. There is plenty of space on the middle floor with a kitchen, dining room and enormous living room. The kitchen is modern and well equipped. As there were only 7 of us staying we did not use the kitchen on the lower floor but it has a large table and chairs which opens onto the garden and would suit a larger party.
We met Sally a couple of times, when we arrived and when she popped in during our stay and she was very friendly and helpful.
Would definitely recommend this property.
Great Family Holiday
We have just returned from 2 fabulous weeks in Villamblard. We went with our 3 children and partners and our 3 grandchildren (2 babies). The house was fantastic and the large gardens (with plenty of shade) and pool helped us to cope with the rather hot weather (36/7 degrees). The house is extremely well equipped and comfortable. We tended to use the downstairs kitchen for the most of the holiday as it leads straight into the garden. It was great to have table tennis and badminton equipment etc and the size of the house and gardens meant that we were all able to be happily occupied from pool activities, reading in the shade, playing games etc. Villamblard is a delightful and totally unspoilt village with little through traffic so very peaceful. The surrounding area is beautiful with some gorgeous villages, chateaux etc. We hope very much to return as our 2 weeks there "en famille" was a total success. Many thanks
A picturesque idyll on the banks of the Dordogne
As the large iron gates open onto the drive of La Petite Foret symmetrical firs line your passage into this quintessential French Maison.
Bright white French windows stare out of the beautiful, ivy covered brickwork, conveying the vast amount of light this impeccable home lets in.
I came out here for my 28th birthday with my incredible girlfriend, who arranged it as a surprise, and a few other couples, every one of which looks forward to returning.
On top of the comfort of the house with large double bedrooms, large kitchens and a huge sitting room, highlights include the circular swimming pool, surrounded by the beautiful well maintained and expansive grounds themselves.
The back door patio features a large BBQ where we cooked delicious meals with local produce and herbs picked from the garden. Dinners lasted anywhere between 2-6 hours as sunsets turned to star filled skies with Orion's belt reminding us to loosen our own.
We made a thirty minute drive to a charming piece of river where we rented canoes for the day. We literally watched the world drift by as the sun sparkled off the calm waters. We pulled over for a packed lunch of freshly baked bread and sublime cheese bought from the Villamblard tabac. We washed this down with a glass of crisp white wine we let cool in the waters as we ate.
The numerable activities available in the surrounding area offer the adventure of Asterix and Obelix alongside the calm domesticity of Madeline, as you feel both at home and away at the same time. As I whiled away long summer afternoons, almost getting lost in the large grounds whilst reading poetry and conversing with loved ones, time seemed at a standstill: as if this summer dream would never end - only all to be over far too soon.
I look forward to returning with my family next summer to melt back into the state of calm abandon I felt here and explore everything else this region has to offer.
Great time in a nice property
Our two families, with 5 children, have spent a great time in La Petite Forêt. The house is beautiful, the garden and woods incredible, and the pool met all the children's expectations! The villa is very well equipped. The little village of villamblard is adorable and we have discovered the "guinguette" near the lake of Neufont near Vergt, where we have spent a great evening with a band playing and us dancing. I would recommend the place without hesitating.
Lovely week in the Dordogne
We stayed in this lovely house a few weeks ago. Three families (and a dog) with kids from age 6 to 14. The house was clean and spacious and comes with two kitchens, so plenty of cooking equipment etc. The garden is lovely and the pool is huge. We didn't have great weather so we went out a fair bit. Lots of lovely towns and villages to visit and bike around. There is also a table tennis table in the garden which was great. The local tennis courts are literally next door and you can pay as you go or get a weekly pass. The booking and all related admin went smoothly and Carole and Sally (in France) were quick to respond to any queries we had. All in all a great holiday. Thank you!
