Why Nick Timms chose Cléré-du-Bois
Many family holidays as a child made France and the Loire region a special place and when taking on the venture, La Vieille Ferme was the perfect fit. The location is ideal for the best of the climate, travelling times and proximity to places of interest. La Vieille Ferme and Cléré have the charm and the typical French countryside lifestyle that we love whilst also having the comfort and quality that we want our guests to enjoy!
What makes this Cottage unique
A heated covered pool is a real winner to suit all weathers and all seasons. Added to that the Ozone system with no salt or chemicals and a jet stream to swim against, it's a big plus! The location is unbeatable. The warm climate you find south of the Loire river. The central position between some of the best Châteaus France has to offer, Futuroscope theme park, a zoo with a rare giant panda, the Brenne National Park on our doorstep and the vast array of local activities, market towns, vineyards, eateries and picturesque countryside to enjoy!

Very relaxing holiday
We spent a week at The Dairy. The accommodation is great with everything you need. It was brilliant having a dishwasher so we didn't have to spend our holiday washing up! The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to be able to cook a nice meal if you don't want to go out to eat. The pool is lovely and a great way to relax after a day of sight seeing or reading. We played a little badminton. There is a table tennis table there along with other games. Angela and Derek are always on hand should you need them.
This part of France has everything from Chateau to vine yards. Great county parks, lovely scenery and peace and quiet. Although it was late September the weather was fantastic and still reaching the high 20's. We would really recommend staying with Angela and Derek if you want a peaceful hassle free holiday in a lovely part of France.
We are delighted that the holiday delivered on every level and we look forward to your return visit.
A Small Piece of Heaven in the Loire
We have just returned from one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever enjoyed. Angela and Derek French have created a small piece of heaven in the Loire with a four gite luxury conversion of former farm buildings in the lovely village of Clere du Bois. A car is essential but all of the chateaux are within easy driving distance and mostly on traffic-free roads through beautiful countryside. If you are looking for an authentic French holiday experience, this is the place to go. Mr and Mrs French live on site and are attentive, helpful and incredibly welcoming hosts without ever being intrusive. Based on the number of people who return repeatedly, it would seem that many other guests have had a similarly wonderful time there.
We are so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday at La Vieille Ferme and hope to welcome you back on a future occasion.
A wonderful gite
The attention to detail and the care and attention from the lovely hosts is what makes this a different experience for a holiday. The gite is very well equipped and extremely comfortable , with modern bathrooms and a lovely bed. Each time we visit we love it even more
A magical hideaway in rural France!
Our stay at La Vieille Ferme was booked with little notice and from the first point of contact with our hosts Angela and Derek we received a warm welcome. Our holiday was booked with relaxation in mind, and when we arrived at La Vieille Ferme we soon realised this is exactly what we were going to get! Our accommodation, The Dairy, was a home from home, and perfect for a couple's getaway, with all essential amenities and lovely touches including our own BBQ and a welcome bottle of locally produced wine. The grounds, barn, sun terrace and swimming pool provided the perfect location for days of relaxing in the sun, and exploring the local area. The local bakery was closed during our stay due to vacation, but Angela and Derek accommodated with a delivery of bread each morning and were very happy to recommend some of their favourites. We will certainly be returning, and plan on bringing family with us next time!
We are so pleased that the Dairy provided the perfect location for your relaxing holiday. We look forward to your return visit to La Vieille Ferme.
Wish we had found this place before!
We are lucky enough to go to France a couple of times a year and always
stay in a gite. We stayed in The Dairy for a week during May and can
only say that we wish we had found this place before. If we had, we
would have been back without doubt. It is located in a lovely quiet
village, beautiful countryside and so easy to get to the chateaux of the
Loire. The accomodation was first class: absolutely immaculate,
spotlessly clean and had all the mod cons you could ask for. There is a
beautiful swimming pool which is heated and covered which was great as
we were able to use it no matter what the weather (though that was near
perfect too) but also before the sun got really going in the morning. We
could have a swim and then head off out for the day. We will be visiting
again next year!
We enjoyed a wonderful time at this gorgeous gite. High quality furnishings and cleanliness made for a very comfortable stay. The surroundings were immaculate and peaceful. The pool was a huge bonus particularly as it was heated to a very pleasant temperature and the fact that it had a covered roof was invaluable on damp or overcast days. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful owners were always on hand. I would highly recommend this gite for anyone who is looking for some peace and quiet. The dairy would be ideally suited for a couple with one child or indeed a couple with a friend, as at one end of the gite it has a self-contained bedroom, dressing room and shower room that can be closed off by a door that leads into the open plan lounge, kitchen, diner.
