Town house in Prospect, St. James, Barbados - Peaceful Central Location, 5 Min Walk To Beach

This development, overlooking a beautifully landscaped waterfall, designed to allow persons using the swimming pool and gazebo area's to enjoy a view of the beautiful Caribbean sea, where jet ski’s, yachts and other pleasure craft may be seen as they pass you by. The property is less than 10 mins drive from the city of Bridgetown and is situated on the luxurious West Coast where many of the famous film stars, entertainment celebrities, prime ministers and presidents reside when they visit the island. Three of the islands premier golf courses; Sandy Lane, Royal West Moreland, the new "Apes Hill" (which is reputed to be the best in the Caribbean) are all close. This development ideally set in the hills of a cul-de-sac is located at Prospect St. James Barbados and consists of seven beautifully designed town houses. The properties were suitably created to take advantage of the contours of the land and overlook the scenic west coast of Barbados with 180 degree panoramic views of the ocean.

About Bev White

The property is owned by two families, Glyn and Beverley White and Dennis and Denise Brownlow. we met on holiday in St. Lucia 20 years ago and now we are more like family than friends.

Why Bev White chose Prospect

With so many properties to choose from its always difficult to make a choice, however this property ticks most of the boxes for us.

The deciding factor has to be the outstanding views of the beautiful west coast along with the location; being half way between Hole Town and Bridgetown, and the beach at the bottom of the road is just the icing on the cake.

What makes this house unique

The property is spacious with air conditioning in all rooms and benifits from 3 full bathrooms which is great when there are more people staying.

The views from the balcony off the lounge and the roof top terrace is simply stunning and one of the best on the west coast. There are also sea views from the kitchen window and the two ground floor bedrooms.

There are no other developments like Costa Vista which has a mediterranean feel and look. The property has become a landmark and is clearly visible from the sea or air.

After a hectic 2 weeks we just simply relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful island and its people. We ventured all around the island using the yellow reggae buses, "what an experience, fantastic!"

Notes on accommodation: All living areas have air conditioning with ceiling fans to dining room, lounge and main bedrooms. Not suitable for wheelchair access or very young children. The main guest comment is that the pictures on this site do not, do the house justice. The amazing views can not be over stated, they are undoubtedly some of the very best views on the west coast of Barbados. Outside: Roof terrace 550sqft with table and chairs external electrical sockets should you wish to plug in a music appliance, there is also electric lighting as well as bamboo oil lamps. The roof top terrace has a BBQ and it's an amazing, breath taking place to chill and absorb the serenity that it provides. The new swimming pool is awesome! and it's almost like an infinity pool as you just gaze at the beautiful Caribbean sea while you keep cool and relax. Our gardens are landscaped and offer many seasonal tropical flowers and shrubs. The first floor bedrooms both have a balcony with views to the Caribbean sea of the west cost, so does the large balcony off the living area. You can even view the Caribbean sea when using the kitchen. Car parking for two cars. Utility Room: Washing machine and ironing facilities. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen, towels and beach towels included. Maid service is provided once a week. Extra visits can be arranged if required. Other: We are the only unit out of the seven that provide sun loungers with mattresses for our guests.

Great views, clean, spacious, comfortable, go for it!

The views really are stunning. The apartment is very clean with lots of rooms so everyone comfortably has their own space. The pool is on top of the hill with great views.The kitchen is really well furnished so it is easy to prepare your own meals and food can easily be bought at the bottom of the hill at the local supermarket. Beaches are nearby but for my girls it was a drive not a walk since the hill to the apartment is rather steep (which enables great views). It is centrally located so easy to access Bridgetown or beaches.

The only problem was that the internet connection was rather poor and frequently not working. Perhaps they need a new router. Perhaps it is the internet provider. Happily we connected more as a family but for doing a little work on the side it was inadequate. I can easily recommend the unit to families and mixed families since there are lots or rooms!

A villa in paradise

The villa was more than we expected for the price. Elma was there when we arrived, and was very helpful during our stay. It was wonderful to wake up and sit on the veranda with our morning coffee and watch the monkeys in the trees with their antics. We enjoyed the pool in the late afternoon after a tired and hot day. The rooftop balcony was a favorite spot to bring up a bottle of wine and watch the sunset before dinner. If I ever come to Barbados again, I would definitely stay here again.

Other people noted that it was very hard to find so we located the villa on google maps satellite and got the gps coordinates.

We had a fantastic time!!!

We just spent 7 glorious days in beautiful Barbados. There were six of us who stayed at the property and everything interms of room and accomonidations were teriffic.

The only problem we had was finding the house on the first day, using the google map location was not correct, thank God for the helpfull people in Barbados who eventually got us to the right place.

The layout of the house was great, everyone was able access bedrooms and bathrooms without feeling cramped, we were able to cook meals on the days that we did not wish to go to resturants, the nearby grocery store made that super convenient. We did not make use of the pool as we preferred to go to the beach, we visited the beach that was down from the house, and we also visited some beaches that were only short drive from the house.

All in all we had no problems with the house and had a great time and if you do not mind walking up or down the stairs because of the split levels you will have a great time also.

Fabulous town house with great views

My husband and our two young adult children enjoyed our stay here immensely. It was very spacious for the four of us and the stairs were a great work-out! It was a joy to have our morning coffee on the balcony and watch the antics of the 'green monkeys'. It was a pleasurable walk down to the beach and Jordans supermarket was so handy. We went to Wendys' for some good home cooking which is around the corner and up the hill. Need a car to get there though. Bought fish from Oistins market and cooked it for dinner a few times as eating out in Barbados can get a bit pricey. Hubby made use of the cheap Bajan rum and made rum punch nearly everyday! The pool was nice for cooling off and wasn't that busy as not all of the townhouses were being occupied at this time. Thank you Bev and Glyn for allowing us to stay at your home-away from home and we do plan to return someday. Rhonda and Peter P.S. Excellent no faults

This property is in a quiet area with lovely views and well equipped would not hesitate in recommending it to anybody but has a steep hill to climb I would advise car hire but you have a bus stop at bottom of hill and you can get anywhere on them. also a well stocked supermarket the pictures do not do it justice.

Excellent Location & Breathtaking Views

We had problems communicating with the owners. The PIN provided for location was wrong , phone contact numbers no answer, taxi , locals could not tell us where the condo was situated.

The condo, met our needs for 4 couples. Needed some repairs . The views, pool, balconies provided a beautiful view of the carribian watching the sailboats and daily visits from the monkeys .Short walk to the market and buses and Fitts Village. Beach a bit rocky safe to swim.Weather beautiful..

The condo has a lot of steps interior to each level and exterior to the pool.

Would have liked a BBQ as advertised since we went to Paynes Market frequently. Rent a car is a must to see Barbados. The housekeeper once there was amazing .

The nearest beach in in Fitts village and is a mere 6 min walk from Costa Vista. paynes bay is 5 mins by car and provides all the water sports, snorkeling is great and you will get an opportunity to swim with wild ocean turtles.

The best way to view the west coast beaches is by sea, and there are many catamarans that sail out of Bridgetown providing an opportunity to sail up the west coast, snorkle with turtles and explore reefs. We have used many and we highly reccomend using "Cool Runnings"


Grantley Adams International airport is a 30 minute drive from Costa Vista.


Fitts village is 500 yards away, while Hole Town is a 7 min drive. The capital Bridgetown is also 7 mins by car.

There is a local supermarket at the bottom of the hill called ‘Jordans’ for more choice try the Sunset Crest Plaza in Hole Town. You can buy most things that you can in Europe or in the US. There is a good selection of fresh meat, fruit and vegetables. For fish lovers, the fish market in Bridgetown is highly recommended, don't be shy, venture inside. There is also a large supermarket at ‘Warrens’ approx 3 miles away. In Bridgetown there are more shops and a very good ‘Cave Shepherd’ department store. This company has small outlets at both the Sunset shopping malls. In order to ensure you gain the benefits of tax free shopping which has a massive saving you must carry your white immigration card with you, to be handed over when you pay. All tax free items can be taken with you with the exception of alcohol and tobacco, which must be collected at the airport on your departure. Jewellery can be found in ‘Colombian Emeralds’and ‘Diamonds International’ they are very good value in comparison to UK prices. The local currency is the Barbadian dollar and the exchange rate varies from about $3 to $3.8 to £1 sterling. The US dollar is always $2 Bds to $1 US. There are several banks locally. All banks will change cash and travellers cheques. Cash machines (ATM’S) can be found outside all of the banks and it is very easy to obtain cash at any time of the day. All major credit cards are accepted in shops and restaurants. Local calls from the apartment are free, international calls are barred. The most cost effective way to make international calls is to buy a local pay as you go SIM card for your mobile phone. Don’t forget to ensure that your mobile is not blocked before leaving home. There are lots of places to see and include Welch Man Hall Gully, Andromeda Gardens, The Flower Forest, Harrisons Cave and Tyrol Cots Heritage Village this is the former home of Sir Grantley Adams who was the first Prime Minister of Barbados. Other places to visit are the Animal Flower Cave.
