beautiful stone cottage with your own indoor heated pool**AMAZING**
This was the second time that we have stayed at this gorgeous stone cottage. It is tastefully decorated and is in a very peaceful location. The heated swimming pool is an added bonus, we enjoyed a swim every day. Our daughter was with us this time and she enjoyed the walk to the top of Thorpe Cloud (in record time)!and of course the stepping stones and walks around Dovedale are wonderful. There is wildlife all around the orchard and adjoining fields and the chickens are at the kitchen door to greet you.The owners Ray and Julie are very friendly and helpful, and thank you so much for the fresh cut roses and bottle of wine on arrival, greatly appreciated. Ashbourne is a lovely town for shopping and eating out and is so near to all the bigger towns like Buxton, Bakewell, Chesterfield and Matlock/ Matlock Bath. We will certainly be coming back again in the future. Thank you Ray and Julie
Thanks for your positive and informative review which is appreciated. It was lovely having you stay at the cottage again and we were pleased you were able to share this holiday with your daughter. You were all very brave crossing the stepping stones and river in the deep floods on the Dove. We look forward to seeing again soon.
Just as described but so much more than expected. It was the little things that stood out wood for the fire, egg cups, polish, dish cloths and lots and lots of refuge bags. So many times we have made visits to home from home property's and yet spend a small fortune on just everyday things. Every little thing is thought of and even threw in amazing walks, views and a fantastic little pub that is within walking distance... Thank you to our hosts your welcome gifts were the icing on the cake!!
Luxury and homely
Lovely welcome and tour from Ray on arrival. The house is beautifully furnished and very cosy. Can't fault the property, it is everything we'd hoped for.
Swimming pool and Jacuzzi were a real treat.
Don't think I'd want to share if it were ours!
The property was spot on with regard to location, facilities, cleanliness and lovely finishing touches, such as flowers, towels, tissues and perfectly equipped. If you like a buzzing village this is not the place, but if you want a peaceful retreat it is great.
The pool is a bonus but there is so much else to enjoy, such as the garden, the wildlife and walks, Dovedale, Ilam and much more.
If you want to shop, then Derby is only 30/40 minutes away in the car with a fantastic shopping centre. Ashbourne is a little disappointing but an oldie worldly place with character. There are a couple of pubs in walking distance, but not at night.
Thank you also to Ray and Julie, who are there if you need them but allow you to savour the peace and quiet. would definitely recommend it.

The cottage is a stone built well equipped and has beautiful views.
My 10year old grandaughter & I had a most wonderful holiday. The owners were genuine lovely people who could not have done more to help us enjoy our stay. Many items, not always included in other holiday lets, were provided, ie extra toilet rolls, washing clothed liquid, salt, pepper, vegetable oil & a large trampoline, which was hastily repaired so it could be used. Whatever was asked of the owners, whenever, they responded without hesitation, nothing was too much trouble. The leaflets provided re local places to visit was excellent, the walks, the places of interest were too many to undertake in a week. We wished we'd stayed longer. I cannot think of anything that wasn't provided that could have improved our enjoyment. To swim each day, or as often as you wished, to wake each day to such lovely views and be confident that the owners, Ray & Julie would always be available if required made this holiday so memorable and such a lovely experience.
Truly delightful cottage with amazing views and a private pool.
Quiet - cool in the hot weather - lovely views
Very peaceful, lovely views, clean, comfortable, cool in the heatwave and shade to sit out in, walks from the doorstep, liked Ashbourne, used the swimming pool every day.. Ray and Julie were lovely and more than helpful.. One of next doors hens laid an egg on the doorstep - what more could you want!

There are many country pubs that offer a friendly atmosphere and reasonably priced food, or high quality restaurants at nearby hotels or within 3 miles at Ashbourne. Ashbourne offers a choice of supermarkets, high street & local bespoke shops, banks and many ladies boutiques. There are a number of Antiques shops in Ashbourne. The pub in the village now named The Old Dog has been fantastically renovated and is great for a drink something to eat, approx. 1/3 mile to walk UP the road.
Shrovetide is an annual event each February which sees Ashbourne closed to traffic & shops boarded up for 2 days whilst the local townsfolk "Upards" take on the "Downards" in a "football" match through the streets with goal posts some 3 miles apart. A spectacle to behold!!
