Dagrum sleeps up to 8 in 4 bedrooms. It is a fantastic family holiday home situated in probably one of the finest locations on the island. Because of its hilltop position the house is not overlooked and the pool and terraces provide complete privacy and stunning views across the island. But it is not just the views! Dagrum is well equipped to ensure all the family have a great holiday. The kitchen boasts all mod-cons, including a dishwasher; a good sized pool, if slightly strange in shape will provide hours of fun for the kids and the terraces with sun loungers and parasols will give sun lovers exactly what they want. For those with other things on their mind we do have a good internet broadband service and 3G mobile (depending on your provider). And all less than 10 mins from the sea and 30 mins from the airport.

Outside: The pool area is the focus for many. The irregular shaped pool is some 8m by 5m sloping from about 1m to over 2m in depth. Surrounded by terraces on two levels with sun loungers, parasol, table and chairs there is always some shade available. The built in barbecue is sadly ineffective but a more portable one can be used either here or on the upper terraces. These are either accessed up stairs from the pool area or directly from the sitting room. To the south is a covered terrace with a sofa and small table and chairs. To the west an open dining terrace which benefits from the best of the views is partially shaded. Table and seating for eight makes this a great place for any meal but watching the sun go down over Monte Toro is particularly magical. Off this area and with steps leading down to the pool is another sun terrace with sun loungers and a parasol. Not being overlooked means that all is enjoyed in the utmost privacy.

Beach and Es Grau: The extremely family friendly beach at Es Grau is less than 10 mins drive away. Dinghy sailing and pedaloes are also available. For the more energetic there are walks from here along the coast in both directions as well as through the Parc Natural. Otherwise there is easy access to everything that Menorca has to offer, all within less than an hours drive.

While Es Grau is nominally a fishing village it has become very much a holiday village. But the majority are local Menorcans or Spanish who have weekend/holiday houses here and have done so for generations. There is a small supermarket, beach shop, and a couple of bars and restaurants. The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed.

and ... : A car is essential. The airport at Mahon is 12km away, under 30 mins by car. The centre of Mahon itself is about 6km and generally less than 15 minutes drive. Ciudedella, at the other end of the island is 50km and less than 1 hour away. A small supermarket for all day to day needs is in ES Grau, more modern well stocked supermarkets are easily accessible in Mahon.

Available on the island is pretty much any activity you care to name. In particular we are 30 minutes away from Minorca Sailing at Ses Salines. They provide a host of sailing activities for young and old. Also available are horse riding, diving and a host of other water based activities.

Walking is an effort in the summer months but when cooler there are some exquisite trails, particularly along the coast.

S’Albufera comes alive with birds in the spring and autumn as a significant migration stop and for the bird watcher becomes a bit of paradise.

About Bruce Williams

Who are we – Bruce & Nicky Williams. We live in Kent in the south east of England.

We have just taken the villa over from Nicky’s father. He bought the plot and built Dagrum in the early 70?s when Nicky was in her teens. Every year long family holidays were spent in the villa, a tradition we have continued. Our three daughters have spent every summer holiday in Menorca. Our youngest is now 25! Dagrum has become a much loved family holiday home.

Why Bruce Williams chose Mahón

Nicky’s father never felt the need to rent the villa and so up until 2011 the house was never “on the market”. Only family and close friends stayed.

Our resources are such that we need to rent to cover the cost of running the house but we are very keen to maintain its family friendly nature and character. We are and will be upgrading to ensure that we meet our guests expectations but we do not want to create a sterile quasi hotel cum spa experience.

The property is managed locally by the most super lady, Sarah Davies who runs Todo Villas and lives nearby. She has lived on Menorca most of her life, is completely bi-lingual and manages many, many villas. You will undoubtedly meet her during your stay and we know that she will do as much as she can to make your stay as flawless as possible.

What makes this villa unique

We do so want everybody who is a guest in Dagrum to feel at home and have the most enjoyable holiday. So please treat it like home, kick back, relax and enjoy. We're back to the old routine now, but sun-kissed and very refreshed after a glorious week.

The villa, we all agreed, was superb and an integral part of our enjoyment. The position was amazing and we derived much pleasure from watching red kites circling and listening to the birds which seemed to chat at night too. The pool was brilliant and one of my personal pleasures was getting up and having a swim and then doing a few exercises/yoga at the edge of the pool , only to return again to the water. I'm missing that already! The kitchen was excellent and many a fine dish was created using your comprehensive equipment! What a change to find a kitchen for cooks.

Sarah too was really helpful and made our final Saturday easier as our flight was not until early evening.

I know it was through a business arrangement that we visited Dagrum, but your friendly replies and thoughtfulness over our little grandson really made a difference to the whole arrangements and eventual holiday. Thank you.

We are not people who regularly holiday abroad, but should we ever return to Menorca, then we'd certainly be in contact and would always be ready to recommend Dagrum to those who wish to visit.

Cots and high chairs can be arranged on request. All bedrooms have oscillating fans. In winter electric heaters are available. The house is built on the top of a hill, not a flat plot. This means that there are changes in level on each floor. The bedrooms are on the ground floor and the living rooms are above. While this is ideal for catching the views and a breeze it does mean stairs both inside and outside down to the pool. The pool can be closed off with gates for safety when small children are about but if you do have real problems with stairs, be warned! We have had all ages staying, from a matter of months to late 80’s and never had a problem with accessibility but it does just require a bit more care and a bit more time.

The Perfect Holiday Home

It is difficult to think of enough superlatives to describe this villa! The setting is amazing - in a quiet area, part of the S'Albufera National Park, with stunning views which means you can totally relax and enjoy your stay. Inside the villa is absolutely fabulous, wonderfully equipped, spotlessly clean and the attention to detail makes your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The kitchen? Wow it was quite breathtaking and both my daughter and I revelled in the amount of space and facilities in there which is not something we normally do on holiday! There are books to read, games to play and enough terraces to sit on for everyone to have their own space when needed (important when you have teenagers!). The pool is a wonderful bonus and we made use of it day and night. Its location means that you are never far from places to visit should you wish to drag yourself away from the villa and the village of Es Grau is only a 5 minute drive away where you will find a lovely beach, wildlife walks, places to eat and shopping for basics. Huge thanks to the owners for their excellent communication before we arrived so that we felt we confident of knowing what to expect and how to get there.

Only down side - we had to come home!!

Would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting a little bit of heaven on the beautiful island of Menorca!

we had a great holiday, fell in love with the island of Menorca all made the better with a fabulous Villa to spend the week in. The owners were so helpful throughout the whole process and everything ran smoothly.

The villa was roomy, well equipped, fun shaped pool, always able to find sun or shade.

Dagrum is located in the 5000 sq hectare 'Parc Natural' de S'Albufera. Its stunning hilltop position means that it is not overlooked and it has 360 degree views across the island. To the east and north are views of open countryside, the fishing village at Es Grau and the sea; to the west a glimpse of the lake, S’Albufera, and then an uninterrupted view across to Monte Toro, Menorca’s highest point. Completing the panorama to the south are further views of the Parc and open countryside. We are less than 10 mins from the sea and 30 mins from the airport.

In the same family ownership since being built in the 1970's the 'Urbanizacion' was to be a large golf course development. Only some 40 houses were built over many 100's of acres before development was stopped and the course is now overgrown. The whole area is now part of the much larger protected nature reserve

Golf: If you are a golf addict Menorca is unlikely to be the top of your list of destinations. However the 18 hole course at Son Parc is less than 30 mins away.
