Why Vivien Gibbings chose Foz do Arelho
We love the property because of its quiet location on the edge of a small seaside town, yet within 2 minutes walk of shops, bars & restaurants. The town has a friendly Portuguese feel to it and there's so much to see in the wider area, historic towns/castles and differing scenery - we're still exploring.

Exactly as described!
This house is exactly as described.
In a quiet location so a car is very useful.
Very clean and well presented property on 3 floors with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. All rooms have a balcony/terrace with the room on the third floor benfiting from an ensuite and a large sun terrace.
A shared swimming pool with the other properties.
Not far from the beach which has a lagoon so safe swimming for children. We drove to Peniche/Baleal beach which is 20mins away which had more waves and larger beach. Perfect location for various sights to see in the area including the Obidos medieval festival which is well worth going to.
The property has everything you need- beach equipment such as body boards, wind breaks etc are found in the basement as are bikes and other items you may wish to use. Also a wide selection of DVDs (which were useful on a cloudy afternoon)
The owner is extremely helpful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Modern and great house in a town near of beatifoul cities: Obidos castle and lagoon, Peniche and Berlenga islands, Lisboa,..

Place to visit:
Obidos - beautiful, historic, medieval town - a walk around the walls with views over the rooftops and surrounding countryside is a must! 20 mins drive.
Buddha Eden - the largest oriental garden in Europe, a hidden gem in the Portuguese countryside. The 35 hectare garden was created as a reaction to the Taliban's destruction of the Buddhas of Bamiyan, in central Afghanistan. Buddhas of all sizes, pagodas, terracotta statues and modern sculptures can be found throughout the gardens. There is a large lake containing koi carp and streams and waterfalls in the tranquil woods. Entry is a modest 3 euros (as of end 2016). Another absolute must! 20 mins drive.

Well worth a visit to see its chapels, royal tombs, cloisters and especially the Room of Kings with 17th-18th century statues representing the Kings of Portugal & walls decorated with blue-white tiles that tell the history of the Monastery of Alcobaça. It was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1989. 40 mins drive.
