The perfect place to stay!
This was the third year staying in Villa 50 and it won’t be the last. The villa and outside area are absolutely perfect and provide everything you would need. There is so much space to choose from to sit and eat and enjoy a glass of wine.
The Villa is situated on a quiet golf resort which is just a short drive from Salema where you will find a beautiful beach and plenty of places to eat and relax.
There is a large supermarket just down the main road from the golf resort which is perfect to stock up for your stay. There are so many lovely beaches and places to visit in the surrounding area too.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to family and friends as it has now become like a second home when holidaying on the Algarve.

Very nice but with a few problems
Check-in is at the resort’s office. They asked for a security deposit which I had already paid with owner. The house is nice. Not very private as the homes are very close so noise and barking dogs were an issue sometimes, espyin the early morning. There is no air conditioner. It was HOT! The pool was a relief from the heat. The outdoors and pool area was messy and many broken pool floats were piled around. The owner had not been to the home for two months and was relying on the resort pool and cleaning services to keep it up. The carpets were stained and the bathroom had ants. The owner wanted to address the ants immediately but we didn’t want the chemicals sprayed in the home while we were there and with no air circulation. There was not hand soap or toilet paper, which is usually provided. The owner said that she’d add 10 pounds to our security deposit return to purchase these items. You must bring everything if you choose to stay here. The last issue was the security deposit return. I ended up losing money, not because of anything that we did, but because the owner wanted my bank information to send it and I wanted it done through PayPal, as we did at booking. We do not ever provide our account or routing number to anyone for anything. We stayed in Portugal for a month in five different villas. This is the only villa that requested our bank information. PayPal is more secure.
We were pleased that Andrea & her guests thought that the villa was nice but are sorry that Andrea and her guests did not have the best of stays at Villa 50
Security deposit-I am not aware why the resort Reception office requested a security deposit and will take that up with the management team - they are aware of the cleaning issues below and that we are very disappointed with these issues.
Cleanliness-We pay the resort team to look after and clean the villa, and generally they do a good job. One of the key reasons for using resort cleaning staff is that they are there 24/7 to rectify any issues any guests have on our behalf. The carpet was laid last year and is steam cleaned thoroughly at the start and end of each season. It is then vacuumed as part of every clean between guests. However, resort management had not advised me of the stain, otherwise I would have organised a steam clean before the guests checked in. A steam clean was done as soon as the guests left (& as Andrea notes I offered to send a team to address all cleaning issues as soon as I received her email, if that could have been done without disturbing their stay). The resort cleaning team will also normally spot any ants and clean accordingly; again we regret that this was not spotted.
The villa is let as a self-catering holiday and we ask guests to replenish any goods e.g. liquid hand soap, olive oil, herbs etc they finish on a “trust” basis. I am very sorry that this was not done and was happy to be able to reimburse Andrea for soaps she purchased. The resort are instructed to leave one new loo roll plus one spare in each bathroom and WC - again it appears they failed to do and have been made aware of this issue.
Pool toys-We do not provide any inflatables for guests but I know that guests who have bought some often leave them at the end of the holiday for the benefit of the next guests – we do expect pool toys which are obviously broken to be binned by them or removed by the resort cleaning team at the end of their stay. We offered to have them removed immediately and following this we instructed the resort to remove all inflatables at the end of each stay.
I set up a US $ account following requests from previous USA guests for the transfer of funds to avoid both parties being penalised by currency exchange rates, fluctuations & currency fees.
Resort team usually do a great job but let us down this time - our aim is to rectify any issues as soon aware of them
We had a wonderful time at villa 50. The villa was very spacious and comfortable with everything we needed. Sandi was very helpful with all our questions as were the resort reception. Thank you all!

Ther nearest beach is under 10 minutes drive from the villa at Salema with more remote beaches at Zavial (15 minutes - great restaurant) and Cordama (20 minutes) which are both fantastic for surfing and families a like..
Faro Airport is approximatey an hours drive away along the motorway and flights leave daily to the UK. Lisbon is approximately 2.5 hours away by motorway offering daily flights to the UK.
All restaurants, spa, pools and leisure facilities are within 5 minutes walk from the house. The nearest village is Budens, 1 mile away, with a very well stocked supermarket, bakery and petrol station. The nearest town is Lagos 15 miles away, with larger supermakets, restaurants, bars, boutiques and a yacht marina.
