Absolutely stunning home providing everything we needed
The house was beautiful, set up in the mountains with stunning scenery. There was little in the way of restaurants nearby although mimmi bnb was very good.
The pool was huge and the beds comfy, he really an absolutely beautiful home who h we would come back to in a heartbeat
lovely house, amazing views, great pool
Perfect for what we wanted, a stylish house in a peaceful location with lovely pool and garden. It is remote, up a bumpy track but the nearby village has a great cafe, bakers, butchers and a mini supermarket; about 10 mins drive. Wonderful local restarants and towns, as well as being near the lake. We flew to Florence, approx 2 hours drive away. Neighbour welcomed us and is nearby for any help, she was great.
We had a wonderful holiday. Gorgeous garden with a spectacular view. The pool is the perfect size for a dip and our grown up boys loved it. Madeleine was there as we arrived to show us around and very helpful and friendly. We had perfect peace and a comfortable stay. To be recommended and repeated.
Stunning villa, views, pool and location
Authentic, lovely Tuscan villa nestled in the Tuscan / Umbrian hills. Tranquil and rural yet within easy driving reach of local supermarkets, restaurants and an abundance of interesting towns and villages with their various attractions, festivals. Tastefully furnished with a mix of modern and traditional, but includes all mod cons. The private pool is a real bonus. Wholeheartedly recommend!
Thanks so much, we're delighted you enjoyed your stay.
Casa Sorbello - peaceful with stunning views
Casa Sorbello is perched high above the valley offering fantastic views. The villa is spacious, clean and well equipped. It is also very peaceful with a fantastic pool and lovely gardens. House keeper Madeleine was very attentive and helpful, but never intrusive. Excellent shopping in Umbertide (approx 12 miles,) and some great restaurants in between, however a car is essential.
Overall a very restful holiday was enjoyed. Hope to be back.
Great review, so pleased you enjoyed your stay, you love Casa Sorbello for the same reasons we do. We look forward to welcoming you again. Thanks, Matt.
Villa is modernised, well-equipped and well maintained located in the mountains about 30 minutes from Cortona and Lake Trasimeno. It has a prominent position with extensive views overlooking the Niccone valley. There are shops in Mecatale (about 4 miles away) and in Lusciano Niccone (about 5 miles away) where there is also a very good pizzeria restaurant. There is another good restaurant about 4 miles away in the opposite direction towards Umbertide. Recommended for families and groups who want to get away from the crowds.
Beaches on either side of the country on the Adriatic or Mediterranean coast are about 3 hours drive.
7 airports serve the area, with several daily flights.

Perugia can be reached in less than an hour, Florence and Forli are about 2 hours drive, Ancona, Bologna and Pisa about 2 1/2 hours and Rome 3 hours.
Car hire is essential.
The nearest small town, Mercatale, is 10 minutes by car and has 2 supermarkets, butchers, an excellent baker, chemist, banks, Post Office, bars, petrol station and a family run tratoria. Larger supermarkets can be found at Camucia and Umbertide both about 25 minutes drive.
Florence is about 2 hours drive, Siena 1 1/4 hours, Assisi 1 1/4 hours, Cortona 1/2 hour, Perugia 3/4 hour.
Casa Sorbello is an ideal base for sightseeing trips to the famous walled, medieval cities of Florence, Siena, Perugia and Assisi as well as the smallar but equally beautiful towns of Citta di Castello, Cortona, Deruta, Gubbio, Montepulciano, Montone, Orvieto, Speleto, Todi and Urbino among others. These towns are steeped in history and offer a wealth of art, archetecture and ceramics as well as many restaurants where you can relax and enjoy the culinary specialities of the area.
Lake Trasimeno with its beaches and restaurants is about 25 minutes away. Here there are facilities for sailing and windsurfing and a regular boat service runs to the islands of Isola Maggiore and Polvese where a pleasant day may be spent. Passignano is a little resort town on the northern shore of the lake where boats and pedalloes can be rented.
Tennis courts are available for rent in Mercatale and there are riding stables nearby that offer one of the more pleasurable ways of seeing the countryside.
