John and I lived in the West Country. John had a small business for twenty years, and I was a school cook at the local infants school for nineteen years. We had for a long time dreamed of living in the Mediterranean area, and in 2003 we decided to take the plunge and have never regretted it

Outside: Your apartment has its own private entrance and shaded car parking. The large garden has a fenced swimming pool measuring 9x4 m with a depth of 1m - 1.8m, with a large tiled surround, a large barbecue, table and chairs, umbrella and sun loungers. There is also outside lighting for those wonderful summer evening barbecues by the pool. The garden is laid out with gravel beds, and planted with an assortment of climbing plants, shrubs and palms. There is an assortment of wild birds in the vicinity which are fascinating to watch. Cleaning/towels/linen/maid service: The apartment cleaned on arrival. Bed linen is provided, as are beach and bathroom towels, tea towels and kitchen towels. Linen can be changed midweek if required. A maid and laundry service can be provided at a small extra charge.

An Oasis in rural Spain

Jane and John offer a genuine welcome to their home, and your home for a few days.

The casa is in the heart of rural Spain, a real experience of the land and the people, away from the frantic tourism of other areas.

The local village of Estacion has everything you need to eat well in your casa if you want to settle down and chill out as we did.

Lorca is a lovely place to stroll around, a little bit of everything for a day trip; history, shopping, food.

The coast is not too far- we went to a old favourite beach- Playa la Carolina not far from Aguilas.

The luxury of a private pool is a real bonus here- in need of a break and flying to Spain, to then rest by a pool with no interruptions except for an occasional hot breeze. Perfect!

Quiet sanctuary

We spent a lovely 2 weeks at the apartment. Jane and John were great hosts always close by for advise etc but never intrusive. The apartment was as described and the outside space was great, there was always shade somewhere which was much needed in the heat of the day. The pool area was fantastic and a great size for swimming etc. The location was quiet and peaceful which is just what we were looking for. I would recommend the apartment and we hope to return for another visit.

Beautiful, quiet countryside apartment

The apartment had everything needed for our stay - it was well equipt. It was close to town and had great access to the autovia (motorway) if you're planning on travelling around Murcia as well as neighbouring Almeria - as we did. It's not far from the coast either.

The pool area was private, perfect place to unwind and relax amongst the beautiful, cared for gardens.

Our hosts were perfect, we couldn't have wished for more! Especially their wealth of knowledge on the area. Would love to stay here again.

Excellent accommodation in a peaceful location

An excellent, very comfortable flat in a quiet rural location, but still only 15mins to the centre of Lorca and 30mins to the beaches at Aguilas. (Nice as these were, we preferred the beaches around Mazarron, a 45 min drive but worth it)

The local village is only a couple of miles away and has all the banks, supermarkets and bars needed for daily life, although lacking the variety of a town such as Lorca.

A lovely private pool with a shaded pergola as well as an excellent sun terrace with views to Lorca as well as the mountains, are really nice features of this wonderful flat that helped us relax almost immediately.

Jane and John are very friendly and helpful hosts and made us feel very much welcomed and at home.

Excellent Rural Location. Easy Drive to Many Points of Interest

My Wife and I enjoyed a relaxing week here. The owners are friendly and helpful. We alternated days of relaxing by the pool with outings to various locations including, Aguilas, Cartagena, Sierra Maria, Caravaca de la Cruz and Barranda Ethnic Museum. Heurcas and Sierra Espuna also nearby.

Coast/Beach:

The two sandy beaches of Aguilas are a 25 minute drive away through mountains plus other beautiful coves and beaches dotted along the coast in either direction of Aguilas.

Would you like to be taken out birdwatching whilst staying at our apartment? Experienced local birder, Dave Elliott-Binns, would be willing to take you out to Cabo de Gato to see Greater Flamingos and other coastal/salt pan birds, to the Sierra de Maria for Griffon Vultures, Eagles and other forest birds or to El Fondo Bird Reserve for reed and Marsh dwelling birds. Travel:

Lorca is situated 2kms off the motorway.

The nearest airport is San Javier (Murcia) approximately 1 hours drive.

Alicante is Approximately 1 hr 20mins drive away, although at peak time it could be a little longer, but the motorways are excellent.

A car is essential and several car hire companies can be found at both airports.

It is possible to travel on the European rail network, although not from the airports, but there is a rail and coach station in Lorca if you fancy a day out not driving.

Distances:

The nearest village are a 5 minute drive and have banks, tapas bars and a couple of small supermarkets which supplies your every need. There is also a petrol station.

City of Almeria - approx 1 1/2hrs drive

Granada - approx 2 1/2hrs drive

Mazaron - approx 1hr drive

Cartegena - approx 1 1/4hr drive

Further Details:

Lorca is an absolute delight, visit the medieval quarter and visitor centre or take part in some retail therapy. Visit Lorca at Easter and watch the most magnificent procession you are ever likely to witness.

Take a day out and visit the medieval town of Caravaca De La Cruz, drive onto Maratalla and return through Bullas and the breathtaking scenery of Siera Cambron.

There are many markets offering the finest and freshest fruit and vegetables, also herbs, spices, cheeses and olives.

There are magnificent Cathedrals in Lorca, Murcia, Cartegena and Almeria.

There are Castles in Lorca, Veloth Blanca and Almeria.

Pueblo Mojacar is a whitewashed village set in the hills, and the small town of Nijar which specialises in ceramics and fabrics, both on the way to Almeria. The list goes on, but if you want to experience real Spain, among friendly people who are very proud of their heritage, then this is the place to come, we feel you will not be disappointed. If you are interested in painting, you could always pay Mary Eames a visit, she organises one day painting classes, and provides all materials and a lunch. we can put you in touch with her.
