ITS A TRUE GET-AWAY. WE ALWAYS FEEL PROPERLY RELAXED AFTER WE STAY AT NORTHERN STAR COTTAGE.
What makes this Cottage unique
LOCATION IN THE CENTER OF THE CAUSEWAY COAST, ONLY A SHORT WALK FROM THE HARBOUR, CAFE'S AND THE PUB. VERY, VERY QUIET AND PEACFULL. Ballintoy harbour is one the great location sets for the SKY TV epic GAME OF THRONES..

Our little slice of heaven
Where to start with this amazing little cottage... We first booked to stay here 3 years ago. From the start clem and Jayne were fantastic and so helpful! We had been to ballintoy several times and had never seen the cottages tucked away. From the minute we arrived we knew we would be back again and again. The cottage has everything you need and more, it makes you realise you do not need all the clutter back home. Breakfast, lunch and bbq's in the garden (weather permitting) and cozy nights infront of the wood burning stove was just perfect. 10 minute walk down to the harbour and beach with the beautiful o'rourke's cafe and the red door at the end of the driveway, As well the the Fullerton arms in the village if you are away to escape cooking you are spoilt for choice. Our daughter enjoyed the body boards and fishing rods and we enjoyed the wine!!! Phone signal may be poor but I actually loved that and my phone stayed off the entire week! We slept better here than we do at home, long lazy days and nights or walks to watch the sunrise or sunset at the beach, it's just heaven.
We loved the northern star cottage and ballintoy harbour so much that we were the first people to get married on the little hidden beach at sandy port in August last year. If it wasn't for this little peace of heaven and having the time to stay here and find this beach we wouldn't have gotten our dream wedding!
Can't wait to August to spend our 1st anniversary in the northern star cottage xx
Great to hear your story, we will keep the standard high for your return visit in the summer.
Charming, quaint, just right for us
We had a wonderful time. Originally booked the cottage as we were going to wedding nearby. We then decided to extend our time here to make a holiday out of our stay. The cottage is wonderful and had everything we needed, it is very well equiped.

Pleanty still on in the area potatoe festivel at the causeway motor bike race on the strand
Fantastic food at romane wine bar at portrush harbour and shopping at white house portrush
An Irish Cottage
This little cottage, situated in an ideal spot on the coast of Northern Ireland, was truly a restful and renewing retreat. From its location we could walk, or drive, to the small quay or into the village of Ballentoy. We highly recommend the Fullerton Arms for a great meal, with welcoming service.
Note 1: We had difficulty reaching the owner to obtain information on where to find the key, and ascertain if there was a hair dryer and microwave (there are neither.) After two emails
we called and talked with Clem who gave us the number of the box to obtain the key and said he would email that evening with further information. HE DID NOT DO SO.
Note 2: For fans of Game of Thrones this is an ideal location to visit several of the sites where filming took place and also check on some of the carved doors - the Fullerton Arms has a spectacular one.
Great location, very well appointed and very clean. Thanks for the logs.
A Good Location
Very small and it would be very crowded for four. It is conveniently situated beside a very good coffee shop/restaurant. 3 cottages in the same location - it would seem over run at peak season. Having no wifi is archaic!
Thank you for your feedback. The cottage is very well promoted as petite/small and the size is clearly stated in all our promotions. The reason for this is that we want you to have the correct information when you are planning your holiday. Its size is part of the enduring charm that brings guests back again and again.
We do not advertise an internet connection and again this is part of the charm, escapism from the trappings of everyday life, enjoying the beauty of where you are. Most people who need internet are equipped with smart phones or are happy to go to the cafe 2 minutes walk from the cottage. Again we clearly state no internet.
The popularity of the area is legendary and the wonder is that you only have walk a few minutes from the harbour to enjoy the space on your own.
We are very disappointed that you gave us a 2 star review for size and internet especially since this is how we promote the cottage in our headlines. Most guests compliment us on how well equipped our petite cottage is and marvel at how well it works. We work very hard to provide a beautiful and clean accommodation with top quality linens, towels and furnishing.
If you are looking for large, we do have a spacious 6 bed Coach House which is maybe more what you are looking for. All the rooms are large and we promote wifi connection in the Coach House. It is equipped to the same high standard as the cottage as we are working to give you a 5 star experience.
The Causeway coast is rich with natural beauty and good places to eat. Only a few minutes away from your traditional Irish cottage you find such wonders as the Giants Causeway, Whitepark Bay, Torr Head, Rathlin Island,
The White Rocks Portrush and the Bush river that feeds the famous Busmills Irish Whisky Distillery. Great resturants and traditional pub fare helps to replace the calories lost on the beautiful coast walks. The National Trust has protected many miles of beautiful walks along beaches that join cliff tops to headlands from where you can watch the flow and ebb of the great tides that sweep in an out of the Irish sea from the North Atlantic. Fishing is rich as is the sea bird life on Rathlin, reached by regular daily ferry crossings or with fast RIBs that offer tours of the area. Some of Ireland's most famous golf clubs such as The Royal Portrush are only a few minutes away from your base in Ballintoy. To the south the majestic 7 Glens of Antrim are only half an hour away.
Other Activities: coastal sea trips, nature trails.
Golf: Ballintoy is located between the world renowned Royal Portrush and Ballycastle Golf Club. The beautiful Bushfoot Golf Club is a few minutes drive. All three clubs boast North Atlantic beach fronts. There are some 7 Golf Clubs in the area.
