Bedrooms 5
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 6 nights

About the property

Chessetts Lodge - 4 Bedrooms + Loft//3Baths/Bar/Pool Table/VibraAcoutsic Tub/ New Hot Tub.

Chessetts Lodge is a stunning custom built house, which was completed in January 2016. It is an impressive property, named after Chessetts Cottage in England. It has all the comforts and amenities of a luxurious log home, but with an English background and flair. You will be amazed from the second you drive up to this gorgeous villa. It is approached via a private road and is situated in its own grounds of some 14 acres, atop Pennsylvania Peak, just South of Alma and only 30 minutes drive from Breckenridge. Surrounded by Pine and Aspen Forests, there are spectacular views of the surrounding white-capped 14,000 ft peaks and the valley rivers and lakes.

There are 4 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with an additional loft and reading area, which has a Queen size sofa bed, providing further accommodation, if required. The downstairs has a massive recreation room with a full size custom bar, with a sink, refrigerator, bar stools and glassware. There is a full size pool table and lots of comfortable seating surrounding the gas fireplace, which has a flat screen television above it. There is a large private sauna with multi coloured lighting, just off the shower room..... towels are provided for guests wishing to use the sauna, at the end of a hard days' skiing or hiking. There is also a fully equipped laundry room, ski locker for your personal equipment and a bedroom, with 2 twin single beds.

Upstairs on the main level, there is a luxurious kitchen with marble counter tops and custom cabinetry. All of the appliances are of the highest quality and are stainless steel. You will have all of the amenities and cookware that you will need to prepare your meals. The kitchen has an island with barstool seating, so that you and your friends, can cook and chat at the same time! The dining room seats 10 people.

The great room has vaulted 2 story ceilings with floor to ceiling windows on all sides. It is fabulous and has stunning views of the mountains, the valley, and the surrounding forest. There is a gas stove to keep the room extra cosy. The seating is leather and extremely comfortable. There is also a small library with books and games for everyone. There is a bathroom on this level as well. Two of the bedrooms are located on this main floor. One has a king size bed and the other, a queen size bed.

There are televisions in almost every room with satellite programming. There is also wireless internet for emails and surfing the internet. It is not for streaming movies though.

Upstairs there is a master suite with a sumptuous king size bed with equally luxurious linens and furnishings. The attached private master bath has a custom tiled walk in shower as well as a vibra acoustic tub. It is large enough for two people. It is even better than a hot tub!

There is also a large loft which has a queen size sleeper sofa, providing additional accommodation, if required. The reading area is also located in the loft, so that you can see the stunning views from the big comfy lounge chair that is provided.

The outdoors is one of the most spectacular qualities of this home. You can hike to the top of Pennsylvania Peak right from the front door of the Lodge. The approach road is shared by one of our other lovely homes called Snow Crest. There is a brand new hot tub at Chessetts to relax in after a day of hiking or skiing. It has awesome views!

If you can think of an outdoor activity, you will probably find it within 10-20 minutes of the cabin. It is a great place to call your "Base Camp".

This is a beautiful home to spend any season of the year. The access is year-round, because the driveways and roads are ploughed, but you will need a 4-wheel drive vehicle, with either snow tires or chains. There can be deep drifts after a storm and it can become quite slippery if the snow melts and refreezes. Please have the proper equipment during the winter months.

The property Chessetts is on is private with many many acres to hike, play, and explore. You can even climb to the top of Pennsylvania Peak. The home is totally secluded and private. There is only one other home in this area. You will be very near the National Forest where you can hike, ATV, snow shoe, or climb a mountain. Breckenridge is only 30 minutes from the home where you can ski or board at a 5 star resort.

Absolutely beautiful!!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was absolutely amazing!! Chessett’s Lodge is beautiful and I hope we can go back again. The only issue we had was with the oven. It wouldn’t warm up and function properly. Just a note for the management company as they may not be aware. :)

Spacious,well maintained, secluded lodge

  • 5 of 5

This large, recently constructed Lodge provide plenty of space for our group of six friends. It served as the perfect home base for exploring the many Colorado 14ers nearby and excellent fly fishing. The large kitchen and dining area allows for large dinner gatherings. The lower recreation room is great for evening fun, including pool games. The place was spotless when we arrived and is well maintained.

Late Winter Experience (mid-March)

  • 5 of 5

Went up to the house for a last minute vacation change due to poor weather at our previously planned location. We arrived late at night to the home. The home was super-clean and comfortable with a plate of cookies in the kitchen for us. The home was warm and luxurious with a wonderful view out to the mountains. No neighbors or other distractions of any kind. Kids built snow forts and had snowball fights. It is about 30 minutes from Breck (in snowy conditions). We really loved the experience and would recommend this home as a wonderful rental. If going during winter, I highly endorse the 4WD needed to get up and around the area with the volume of snowfall.

60th Birthday Treat

  • 5 of 5

We had booked to stay at another cabin but on arrival found the facilities were not in full working order, as such we were offered Chessetts Lodge as an alternative.

We were extremely happy with the accommodation, the house was not quite finished as it was not meant to be on the rental market until early February. The only issue was that blinds had not been installed but given the property sat on its own 14 acre lot privacy was not a problem.

We were able to leave the house at 7:30 in the morning and made it to the slopes in time for the lifts to open for a full days skiing. On the way home we stopped at city market (close to the base of the gondola) that was very convenient for picking up provisions for the evening mail. More convenient was the sauna when we arrived home to relax the aching 60 year old muscles!!! and after recovery a nice beer and a few games of pool before (and after!!) dinner.

Having come out with 3 generations of the family it was nice that there was enough space to either play games and socialise together, or if quite time was needed there were TV's in all the bedrooms where the beds were extremely comfortable and allowed for some quality down time!

There is an oversized kitchen and a table that will sit 10 comfortably this allowed for one of the most memorable birthday meals I have ever had. There is nothing so priceless as having the entire family sat round one table for a lovely home cooked meal.

I will be recommending this property to all my friends, those who want a family gathering or those that are simply seeking a luxurious base to explore the beautiful surroundings.

We will definitely be returning.

Top Tip: Bring slippers, the basement floor which is flagstone can be cold until the room heats up.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a comprehensive and honest review for Chessetts Lodge. I am really glad you enjoyed your stay. It is such a gorgeous home and now people are starting to find it and realize what a fabulous place it is to stay for a vacation. I hope you can return every year. I appreciate the suggestion for slippers downstairs. Maybe we can check on getting some for the renters to use while there if they forget their own. The blinds are being installed this week and when the weather gets warmer, the owner will be working on other improvements like a nice fire pit, a grill on the deck with patio furniture, and even a hot tub towards the end of the summer. Chessetts just keeps getting better and better.

Fabulous stay, Great location, Will definitly be returning

  • 5 of 5

I am an avid skier and Breckenridge is one of my favourite resorts however staying in Breck town can be extremely pricy especially for a group of people. I found Chessetts lodge whilst searching the internet and booked it up for week.

On arrival we were amazed at the attention to detail, this house has everything you would expect from similar luxury accommodation that you would find right on the slopes for a fraction of the price. It takes 30 mins to drive from the door to the carpark at the bottom of the gondola which takes you to peaks 7 & 8. Very similar times to the bus services that serve some of the lodges in and around Breck town.

I would recommend skiing Mon-Thurs, the slopes will be your own and the car parking is only $5 per day in the gondola parking lot.

Back to the has a sauna which is excellent for relaxing the muscles after a hard day on the slopes, each bedroom has its own TV and there is a games room complete with bar, pool table, TV/music system for some more lively entertainment.

The quality of the furnishings in the house is excellent and the location stunning. Chessetts sits on its own 14 acre lot and has views of pine and aspen forest with the tops of mountains visible above the trees.

I was enjoying a morning cup of coffee one day only to see a moose walk up the driveway!

I can not recommend this property enough for families or larger groups who want to get away from it all but with sufficient entertainment on site or world class skiing within minutes. 4 wheel drive a definite!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words and review of Chessetts. It is so exciting to actually have people staying there. I watched the home being built and designed specifically for renters to enjoy and now it is really happening. I had a feeling that this home would be one of the most popular homes in the Central Rockies and it seems to be coming true. Thank you again and please come back for your next vacation. There will be a new hot tub by next fall and many more new improvements. We will keep you posted on all the exciting changes.
