About Jane Shallow and David Anderson
Jane is getting up there into the late 50s now, but still likes to canoe, kayak, hike, ski, birdwatch and snowshoe. Dave is getting up there too, but he can still outpaddle almost anyone. At least anyone he's met so far :)
Jane Shallow and David Anderson purchased this Cabin in 1999
Why Jane Shallow and David Anderson chose Ely
This gorgeous cabin is on a remote lake on the edge of the BWCA with large white pines, birch, spruce, fir, aspen and more recently some red oak. Clean water with wonderful bird and wildlife watching, fishing and swimming. Conservation easement permanently protects this 32 ace parcel. For getting away and unplugging. The lake system is Ojibway/Triangle in Lake County.
What makes this Cabin unique
Noticing nature. Swimming in clean water. Miles of quiet paddling. Not being able to drive in and out with the car. Quiet enjoyment very near the Boundary Waters but still luxurious in comparison to camping. If you are uncertain of your abilities, or haven't experienced this area of the country but would like to, this is for you. We will take you in and out and make sure you are comfortable. Transport and guide can stay in a nearby cabin if needed.
100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date. 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
Hidden gem and wonderful support
We couldn’t be happier with our stay. The property is beautiful, inside and out. It has everything you need and more to enjoy yourself in the north woods in comfort.
We have young children and getting to the cabin by canoe was a bit daunting, but Dave the property manager was helpful and considerate throughout. He made the trip feel easy and made sure everything went smoothly from beginning to end. I can’t thank him enough for his help and we can’t wait to come back, hopefully for years to come.
Peaceful place to unwind
This cabin was a perfect place to get away and relax. With kayaks, a row boat, and a canoe provided, we explored the lake and the small islands in the area. It was great for bird watching, fishing, swimming, and star gazing.
The cabin itself was beautiful and very comfortable. It had all that we needed! We really can't thank Dave and his family enough for all they did to make our stay so memorable.
Sanctuary at Shallow Bay - Triangle Lake!!!
This place is a little slice wilderness heaven on earth. The cabin is perfectly situated on 32 acres of stunning natural beauty and quiet. It's appointed with all the features our family wanted and needed; we wish we could have stayed longer. We love the balance of rustic living and luxury. You can paddle, swim, sauna, wildlife & bird watch, hike, all with easy access to the Kawishiwi and the BWCA, while staying in a gorgeous cabin and sleeping in a bed! Dave for offered our family the perfect amount of help and space. Thank you - thank you - we can hardly wait to go back!
The cabin, lake, service and amenities far exceeded our expectations! A big thanks to Jane, Dave and Sue for helping us make our family vacation a fabulous one!
Location is remote on a Boundary Waters buffer lake. Access to BWCA portage is 1/4 mile by water. Location is on the Fernberg Road out of Ely MN. Triangle Lake is clean, deep water, with many rocky islands and small bays. Address on this VRBO listing is not the actual address of the cabin. The cabin does not have an address because of its remoteness so I had to use an address in Ely to make the listing work.
