Perfect place for a relaxing break in Brittany. Jenny and Jaques are great hosts friendly but not intrusive. The Gite was well equipped complete with washing machine and dish washer, beds were very comfortable and we use an orthopaedic mattress at home. The swimming pool is small but also a nice feature. The real stars though are the animals and birds. From Paco the adorable rescued donkey, to OK and Gamma the beautiful horses, the 4 pigs, goats, 2 Shetland ponies, a hamster and two dogs Casper and the lovely Bruno. Then there are the many peacocks with their chicks the ducks on the two lakes on site the coypus and the elusive heron who always knew when I was about to photograph him and flew off just before. So if feeding the peacocks with Madeleine crumbs, and all the other animals with your spare fruit and veg is your cup of tea then you might never leave the gite. That would be a pity however as all within an hours drive there are some amazing beaches, chateaus, churches, an excellent zoo with probably the best birds of prey show you will see, some loveley mediaeval towns and of course the magnificent Mont St Michel. Many of the beaches do not have refreshment facilities so take a picnic with you. You will find that the many excellent restaurants in the area all close from about 4pm until gone seven so if you don't want to eat that late you will have to think about eating back at the gite if you do there is a nice small supermarket in Evran the closest village about 10km away and a hyper market which we did not bother with in tenteniac another quite close village . Couldn't recommend this holiday enough and we will definitely be going back sometime soon. One final comment this location is very rural and a car is a must
This was an absolute gem of a place. L'ecurie is spacious and well laid out. The peacocks, cockerells, friendly dogs, ponies, donkey and swan and the suitably aloof (but not really aloof) cats were a delight. We enjoyed the use of the pool - very relaxing. It was peaceful looking out at the ducks and swan on the lake by the cottages and there is a nice walk through the paddocks to the other lake. Herons were in evidence. Jenny and Jacques are warmly welcoming and balance care with a gentility that doesn't intrude. We enjoyed cooking our dinners and sitting round the kitchen table , or sitting outside under the pergola. chatting till late Shops are easily accessible by car (or even bicylce) in St Domineuc (there's a Spar) and on the way to Evran (Carrefour/Contact and Intermarche). Combourg and Becherel are interesting places close by, by car. You can walk to St Thual for some basics like bread and tins and newspapers from the tabac/bar/epicerie in the village. There's also a library there -open on Wednesday evening for a few hours, but Jenny has left lots of books in the house(s), if you would like something to read. We loved it there. Rebecca.
Recently stayed here with my husband and two sons 5 & 1. A lovely holiday home in a beautiful setting. We had a lovely time here and its particularly good for kids with the animals, pool and garden toys. Ideal base for exploring the beautiful area. Jenny and Jacques were very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. Only slight downside was the early morning wake up call from the peacocks but otherwise a lovely place & I'm sure we will be back.
We have just come back from l'ecurie after a week with our Daughter her Husband and two of our grandchildren(one .3 and one 6 months. The accommodation was perfect, the pool just right, and the amazing collection of animals and birds just top it off,the 3yr old fell in love with the Black Swan, the only slight down side, but does not distract from 5 stars is the dawn chorus of peacocks, now we left the best to last, our hosts,Jenny and Jacques they were lovely and so helpful and nothing was to much for them,We would not hesitate to recommend this to any family,in fact we have already recommended it to friends.it was great
We spent a lovely week at this gite. The accommodations were everything we could have asked for and we ate dinner in front of the fire in the kitchen each night. The farm is so charming and my daughter was in heaven. She was even able to feed the animals with Jenny and loved every moment there. It was truly a relaxing week and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you so much Jenny and Jacques!
P.S. Lorenzo sends his regards to Bruno!
My husband I recently spent a lovely holiday at Lesnen Petit Bois. Also in the party was my 23 year old Son, and my two stepdaughters aged 12 and 14. Jenny and Jacques were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. We stayed in L'Ecurie which was well equipped and very comfortable. The highlights for us were the animals who we all enjoyed feeding and the swimming pool, which provided a fun and relaxing end to the day. It was also lovely waking up to the sound of the black swan honking, and the sight of the peacocks and goats strolling around the grounds.
We took day trips to St Malo, Dinan, Rennes and Mon St Michel all of which were within easy driving distance of where we were staying. The weather was mild for October, and we spent the evenings playing board games or watching DVD's in the Gite.
WE enjoyed ourselves so much we have booked to visit again next August and are looking forward to long summer evenings sitting round the BBQ.
Thank you Jenny and Jacques, see you next year!!
