Secluded and private, this spacious 2 bedroom/2 bath, 2,500 sq. ft., cliff-side home is four-stories with stunning ocean and mountain views, WiFi and air conditioned bedrooms.
Two spacious and comfortable bedrooms share the big bathroom which has bathtub/shower and a lovely Juliet balcony overlooking the beach with mountain views. The bedrooms have a wide covered terrace with commanding ocean view and outdoor seating. The Hummingbird Bedroom (sleeps 4 max.) with a queen-size bed and a matrimonial/full-size bed, a private balcony with mountain, ocean and garden views. The Jaguar Bedroom has extraordinary ocean/beach view, a queen-size bed and daybed.
A second full bathroom and additional daybed are located off the main floor living area. The serene sound of the ocean is heard throughout the house.

The oceanfront location--set 100+ feet above the beach provides splendid, clear views of the Pacific coast. Swimmer-friendly local Matanchen Beach with its charming palm thatched ramadas offers shady seaside dining with deliciously fresh catch of the day, cold drinks and an ocean breeze. Guests can either drive or make the easy 7-10 minute walk to the beach from the house.
Located in Aticama, Nayarit, a quaint and friendly village (pop. 1,500) just off the beaten tourist track, a great getaway in authentic, old world Mexico. This rental is ideal for serious birders, writers, getaways, or romance and renewal. Not suitable for small children (under 8 years old) as the pool is not enclosed and the steep height along cliff edge is not child proof.
The home's setting is backed by a one-and-a-half-acre, organic mango orchard and tropical garden of bananas, pineapples, star fruit/carambola and other seasonal fruits and palms. The multi-story house is open air in design with numerous screened windows to catch the sea breeze and highlight the views. The bedrooms have air conditioning but seldom needed in the high season. Plenty of outdoor living space for relaxation, or meditation including a pool, lanai with lounge chairs, a tree shaded patio off the living room and covered terraces on each floor—all with wonderful views of Matanchen Bay and coastline. The rooftop terrace offers a pair of hammocks to enjoy 360° views of the ocean, Sierra Madre Mountains, beach and surrounding countryside.
Spacious, comfortable and eclectically furnished, the house sleeps six (max. eight*) and offers two full bathrooms with additional outdoor showers available for after the beach, and at poolside.
Enjoy the peace of mind and convenience of purified drinking water from every indoor tap with an in-house Ultra-Violet water purification system. Four, high bar stools for sitting around the kitchen's wood island, a gas range, electric coffee maker, toaster, waffle iron, blender and assorted and essential cooking utensils. Ceiling fans and screened windows throughout the house; all-cotton bed and bath linens provided. Cook as you wish or meals may be ordered in advance. Maid service included for week long stays or more, additional cleaning days and meal preparation are an option.

The gated property grounds are one and half acres and full of bird activity. The garden surrounding the house is lush and green with tropical plants and palms--at times fragrant with scented jasmine, white ginger, mock orange and golden chalice vine. Guests enjoy seasonal tropical fruit straight from the garden including bananas, limes, pineapples, coconuts, papayas, guavas, avocados (Nov/Dec), mangos (May/June/July), passion fruit, starfruit/carambola.
A house library, dominoes, and board games e.g. Scrabble, chess set, puzzles, playing cards are available for entertainment. Evening time is magical with owl hoots, nightjars and fireflies brightening the night. At Casa Babina, celestial drama includes moonrise over the mountains, and its silvery reflection as it sinks over the ocean, rose-hued sunsets, perhaps a glimpse of "the green flash" at sunset, clear night skies for star gazing.
Activities nearby include excellent birding, beach swimming, fishing, surfing, hiking, trek/swim at El Cora waterfall, whale watching excursions, participating in release of turtle hatchlings, shell collecting or simply indulge in a good book in the hammock. Visit Aticama's Cultural Center comprising an art gallery, public library with WiFi. Each Sunday morning during tourist season from mid-November to April, a lively community market (or tianguis) is held in the courtyard of the Cultural Center, where locals and visitors gather for fresh homemade food, local, shade grown coffee, fresh fruits and vegetables, tropical plants and flowers, handicrafts and secondhand goods. The nearby Aticama Community Museum displays a good collection of indigenous artifacts found in or around the Matanchen area, and historical exhibitions, it is also home to the free monthly spay/neuter clinic for cats and dogs providing a wonderful community service for the Matanchen area.
Summertime in the tropics (July-Sept) is dramatic, humid and green, it's also mango harvest and monsoon season with fantastic thunderstorms mostly at night. Inquire about our special green and shoulder season rates. September is customarily big surf season.
