Wonderful weekend in a quiet and comfortable cabin.
The cabin was clean, cozy and totally off the grid. Sue provided great hospitality and the mountains around were spectacular. I truly recommend this farm and eager to repeat in the future.
The cabin is so very comfortable and inviting and the scenery is breathtaking.
We only explored a small part of the immaculately maintained property. We're just 3 old guys that have been camping together for over 40 years. This is by far the nicest place we've stayed. Sue and her husband were super accommodating. We are already making plans to return next year. Bring your walking shoes and check out the grazing sheep, the many wooded mountain trails on the property and the clear mountain stream. Most of all, bring the camera.
The hosts were so very friendly and gracious. The cabin was charming, clean, and very comfortable. The wood stove had been set before we arrived so the cabin was warm and inviting. The weather had been such that there were no Fall colors but the mountains and green fields made up for it. The wandering sheep made it seem all so peaceful. We were told there were hiking trails and a wonderful stream on the property but unfortunately due to health issues, we were unable to take advantage of them. A drive along Bull Pasture River toward Williamsville was ,in a small way, a beautiful substitute. A trip to Monterey allowed for cell phone connection otherwise being without cell phone and WiFi for 5 days was a welcome break. I highly recommend this charming spot.
Beautiful trails! Nice people and animals!
The birding was nice, especially near the cabin and along the fields. This is a gorgeous landscape with a spectacular night sky to boot. The belt of the Milky Way is quite sensational. The farm animals are endearing as well as Eden. Sue and Bobby were very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. At the Highland County Museum I saw a clock that was one of my ancestor's, dating back to 1835-1840.
Wonderful, peaceful property!
The stay was perfect. Very cozy cabin surrounded by beautiful scenery. The trails were great, the views were amazing, and the hosts were very welcoming. Perfect spot for us to get some r and r!
Peaceful, welcoming, great trails, fascinating mushrooms
The cabin was clean, comfortable, had everything we needed. Sue and Bob were welcoming, Eden the dog made sure we knew the way on the trails. We had phenomenal views of the stars at night. It's way out there and quiet, just what we wanted. We even managed all the VA/WV hills and curves without car sickness. Easy to get to Senaca Rocks, NRocks (ziplining), Cass railroad, Green Banks observatory. We got our money's worth and then some! Sue warned us beforehand to come with groceries, she was right! But the very small stores in McDowell, Monterey and Franklin were fun to poke around in.
25 minutes from Monterey, home to small shops and a few restaurants. 1 hour from the Homestead Resort, 90 min to Snowshoe, Canaan Valley, or Whitegrass.
