Overview

Photos and Description of this holiday apartment in Kent - Vernham Dean Studio

Self-catering, access to woodland garden, 5 miles to sandy beach

Luxury self-catering studio apartment, situated over the double garage, which sleeps two. Large living area with shower room and kitchenette. Double doors out on to south facing balcony. Studio is bright with views over large garden and wood. A small covered heated swimming pool is available for use at guest's discretion between March and October and a hot tub is available all year round. These are shared with us the family. There are 4 acres of woodland to explore. Wake each morning to the beautiful sound of bird song from the many varieties of birds in the wood. Shower room has plenty of storage space and corner shower . Kitchenette has 2 burner hob, grill/microwave, toaster, fridge with small freezer space, toaster and kettle. Full linen is supplied and changed weekly. 3 seat leather sofa is very comfortable both as a sofa and a bed, Separate storage for duvet. A double bed has been added and there is a gate legged table and 2 dining chairs catering for meals. Entrance via one flight of external stairs. Wireless Internet connection.

Swimming Pool: A heated swimming pool is available from about April to November, it is heated to about 80degrees and is covered except in prolonged sunny periods. Swimmers swim at their own risk and it is requested that people do not swim alone.

Woodland: The house is surrounded by a wood which is accessible to guests. However we do not own the whole wood and you are asked to respect our neighbours. There is a vast array of wild life, from squirrels to badgers, from blue tits to jays. You are welcome to walk or just sit and watch. Several small streams criss cross the wood but these are easily crossed and provide more entertainment from the wild life.

Eating Out: There are two Pubs in the village which both have restaurants serving typical English fayre. Most local villages have their own pubs which do meals. Our village also has a bakers/butchers and Post Office/village store. The nearest supermarket is Tesco 6 miles away.

Why Patricia and Michael Jupp chose Kent

We built our house in 1998 and added the garage with studio over in 2007. The house is set in 4 acres of woodland which is always changing through the seasons. We are in an area of outstanding natural beauty which is why we love the area.

What makes this apartment unique

Our swimming pool is great during the spring summer and autumn and we added a hot tub in February 2013 which will be available to guests throughout the year. A great way to unwind after a day of sightseeing or just to relax any time.

Me and my partner had a lovely 2 night stay here. The location is very rural with beautiful scenery. It is very peaceful and relaxing. The studio is very well equipped. The hot tub was great! We would definitely stay again.

lovely, quiet studio, just right for two

  • 5 of 5

This "small but perfected formed" studio has everything you could want for a week away and when the temperature rises and the roof comes off the pool, it couldn't be better!

We had a lovely time exploring the countryside and villages around the area and would recommend it to anyone!

There is no oven, however the microwave and two ring burner was more than adequate and anyway we were on holiday so we ate out more often than not!

Special thanks to the lovely hosts and we hope Jay makes a speedy recovery x

Perfect cozy hideaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 6 days in Patricia and Michael's apartment before embarking from Dover on a cruise. Patricia and Michael were the consummate, welcoming hosts. They helped us with several problems, and even invited us into their home for dinner when we didn't have a car to get around. They afforded us our privacy, but were there for us when we needed them. The apartment is perfect for two persons, very cozy, clean, light, airy, quiet, and centrally located for drives all around southeast England. It was well equipped with everything we needed. We didn't have much time to enjoy the yard, pool, and patio, but they were very appealing and inviting. We would definitely recommend this apartment! Thank you!

Lovely, relaxing break

  • 5 of 5

I was pleased to be able to book this place at fairly short notice and it was smooth sailing from there. Patricia gave us a warm welcome and showed us round; everything we needed was provided. It's a lovely setting in the Kent countryside and the only noise is from the frequent visits from birds in the garden. It's topped off with the hot tub (just great!), pool (which we didn't get round to using) and plenty of outdoor seating. The coast is just a short countryside drive away too. I'd thoroughly recommend and am looking for an opportunity to return!

Cosy'n'comfy in Kent!!!

  • 3 of 5

This lovely apartment is ideal for couples looking for peace and quiet surrounded by nature.

We did have a problem with the hot water for the kitchen sink, but the price overall was very reasonable.

Unable to find tea towels or egg cups, but overall we loved our visit and would come back.

Many thanks for your helpful and courteous hospitality.

Best wishes Paul and Linda

Owner's Response: We are always available to help with any issues, tea towels were hanging on the trolley and egg cups could have been available if we had known. However we have since heard from Paul and are very glad you enjoyed your stay and would like to return some day.

Good shopping at Ashford Shopping Outlet, Canterbury and the County town of Maidstone on the River Medway. For train enthusiasts there is the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch railway and the East Kent Railway, both run trains throughout the year. Dover, Walmer and Deal castles are all within an easy drive and are run by English Heritage and for walkers we are on the Saxon Shoreline with amazing views over Romney Marsh. Canterbury Cathedral is a 30 minute drive and Rochester Cathedral is 40 minutes. Our local sandy beach is Dymchurch which is 5 miles away across the Marsh, or Hythe is pebbles and 10 miles away.
