Relax "Under the Palms" in a 1930's-style plantation home with the 2015 best beach as your backyard (literally!) This spacious, 2-story beach house offers gorgeous ocean views, a large front yard for BBQs, and miles of secluded beach outside your backdoor.

NOTE: We do NOT allow WEDDINGS (ceremonies or receptions), parties, or events of any size on our property.

IMPORTANT: For all other inquiries, please click "ASK OWNER A QUESTION" and introduce yourself before making a reservation request! Please do NOT use the "Request to Book" or "Book it Now" button. Our beach house is very special to us, so we take time to get to know our guests before approving any reservation requests. Sharing about yourself, who you will be traveling with, the purpose of your travels and your plans for your vacation will expedite your request as it helps us to determine if our house is appropriate for your needs.

A spacious beachfront estate awaits you on breathtakingly beautiful Waimanalo beach. Get away from the noise and the crowds and enjoy a relaxing vacation in the countryside. This 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath estate was designed especially for enjoyment of our spectacular ocean views. Enjoy unbeatable ocean views from the picture windows that line the living room, dining room, and upstairs bedroom. A fully equipped kitchen looks out on the lush Ko'olau Mountain Range to one side, and the ocean to the other. Plentiful windows and island breezes keep the house cool and naturally well ventilated, however AC is provided for the comfort of guests who may not be used to our island temperatures and humidity.

All bedrooms offer gorgeous ocean views as well. In fact, you can take in the world-famous Waimanalo sunrise without leaving the comfort of your bed! All bedrooms are equipped with AC, ceiling fans and floor fans. Children in particular love our twin-size window beds available in two of the downstairs bedrooms. Fall asleep to the gentle sound of the waves and the wind rustling through the coconut trees from any room in the house. Enjoy stargazing on the beach, or simply enjoy the reflection of the moonlight on the water from your bed.

The property includes a coconut grove in the spacious front yard, a paved BBQ area, a 4-burner Weber Genesis II BBQ Grill, and direct access to the beach. Savor ocean views and the island breeze from your private second-story lanai, accessible directly from the living room. Waimanalo beach is also perfect for boogie boarding, a favorite pastime of local children, and you'll find plenty of boogie boards in the garage for your enjoyment. Two private, outdoor showers with warm water allow you to enjoy a comfortable rinse-off before returning into the house.

For your convenience, two washing machines and two dryers are provided. We have a laundry room on the first floor with one washer and dryer, along with an ironing board, laundry sink, and clothes drying rack. A Dyson stick vacuum is also located in the laundry room. A second, high-capacity HE washer-dryer set are located in the garage, along with an extra large drying rack that easily accommodates beach towels. We know our guests frequently travel in large groups and could use the extra machines!

Enjoy the property as if it were your own. The house is equipped with a keyless entry lock, which will allow you to check-in at your leisure anytime after your official check-in time.

We like to get to know our guests before finalizing any bookings. Please click "CONTACT OWNER" to contact us rather than the "Request to Book" button. Please let us know the purpose for your visit and tell us about your family or the group with whom you will be traveling. This will help us ensure that the property is appropriate for your needs so that you can enjoy a relaxing vacation.

Also, please note that if you are requesting to check-in on a date when we have another guest checking out, you will be required to check-in late (at or after 6 pm). Similarly, you will be required to check-out early (at or before 9 am) if we have another guest checking in the day you are checking out. This is due to the fact that our house is quite large and takes a significant amount of time to clean between guests. We appreciate your understanding of this policy as it allows us to adequately prepare our home for you or for the next guest.

Waimanalo is where the cars move slow and the island breezes blow - truly the place to get away from it all. Enjoy a sleepy, beachside community of local residents with very few tourists. You'll find small convenience stores and restaurants only a few blocks away, including a 7-11, a McDonald's, and a few local favorites: Serg's Mexican Kitchen, Keneke's BBQ (which also serves up local style - read "large" - shave ice!), Ono Steaks & Shrimp Shack, Hawaiian Island Cafe, 'Ai Love Nalo vegan restaurant and Waimanalo Market Co-op. Although Waimanalo is secluded, it's only a 10 minute drive from Kailua town, with its multitude of restaurants, boutiques, and other conveniences, including a Whole Foods and Target.

Families and snorkelers alike will be happy to know that Waimanalo is also home to world-famous Hanauma Bay, where thousands of brightly colored tropical fish swim around our corals to the delight of generations of children and adults.

For an up-close marine life experience, drive 10 minutes up the highway to Sea Life Park. Swim with dolphins, sea lions, sting rays, or even sharks! See the world's only wholphin, experience a top rated Hawaiian luau, enjoy dolphin and sea lion shows, touch sea urchins, learn about penguins, and feed sea turtles all in one day!

The Honolulu Polo Club plays on Sunday afternoons at 3 pm during the summer and fall months (May through October) at the polo fields which are located within walking distance of the house. Entrance is $5/adult, and free for military and kids 12 and under! If you've never seen a polo game before, you are in for a good time, and there are even free brochures about how to watch the game. The polo club also offers lessons for riders of all ages and ability levels.

Magical Hawaii Beach House!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Under the Palms. The house fit us perfectly. It was spacious with incredible ocean views from every room. Large front and back yards with hot water outside beach showers. The town of Waimanalo was the perfect pace for us. The beach was beautiful and felt like our own private beach. Chloe was very attentive to our questions and gave us great suggestions on where to shop and eat. We will definitely be coming back!

Absolute perfection

  • 5 of 5

I can not say enough about this property, I could honestly go on and on describing just how perfect it was. I took my family of 8 here and from the moment we walked up those stairs to see that incredible view we had officially arrived to "Beach Heaven". Every single room in the home has an ocean view (All Bedrooms, kitchen, living room).

Chloe is a true gem, she was great from start to finish. I was traveling with 10 month old twins and Chloe went beyond and had 2 high chairs, play pin, etc ready for me on arrival.

No need to bring anything to this home, it literally has it all. I have rented many homes through VRBO and other sites and this by far was one of the best ! We had a vehicle which made going to the store easy. I was a bit nervous knowing this was the windy side of the island but rest assured with 80+ degree weather you welcome the mild wind. We went in November and it was perfect.

I had many excursions planned throughout the island for my family and we honestly just wanted to stay at the house and play at the beach. Waimanalo is definitely one of a kind. We quickly became acquainted with The locals around the immediate area that would come by the beach in front of the house daily. Great people.

We will be back for sure !

Owner's Response: Aloha Raquel, I am so happy to hear that our house provided “Beach Heaven” for you! It was no problem at all to provide an extra high chair for you – you’re the amazing one for traveling with infant twins! I’m so glad that you enjoyed our beach house so much; I will say that most of our guests say that they wish they had spent more time at the house and less time sight-seeing! Thank you for your very kind review, and we hope to host you again soon! Mahalo, Chloe

You can't get closer to ocean than this large, comfortable house situated with great views from all the rooms. The lanai is well shaded and a large amount of glass protects from excess ocean breezes. With the kitchen and living room on the 2nd floor, the times when the family are together give everyone a sense of the ocean at all times. Recently-added air conditioning made a major difference since the week we were there in October was quite warm. While neither the living room or kitchen were especially large, they were spacious enough to feel comfortable.

Chloe managed everything from reservations to our time there masterfully. There are four large digital tvs, but one developed problems and she immediately removed it and took it to the other side of the island to get it fixed. Otherwise, no problems.

The beech deserves special mention. It goes on for longer than we could walk in both directions, and was very wide. The waves, as one sees in the picture, were gentle and the shallow water continues for quite a distance, so this is ideal for hanging out or walking, if not for surfing or snorkling, although there's plenty of that elsewhere on Oahu.

Beds were very comfortable and modern, sheets, towels, etc. were plentiful and of good quality. The house, we guessed, might have been constructed in the 60s or even earlier and then updated, but don't expect marble and glass and the other more modern stuff we are personally used to, but didn't miss because we were here for the best Hawaii has to offer -- and we got it.

Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: Aloha Howard, I am so glad to hear that you were able to thoroughly enjoy our amazing ocean views! And, of course, our beautiful white sand beach. Thank you for sharing with other guests what to expect with our home. Our beach house was originally constructed in the 1930’s and remodeled significantly in the 1980’s, with continual improvements made all the time. Throughout all of this, we have worked very hard to maintain the historical character of the home in its original 1930’s plantation house style. We know that there are luxury homes out there with modern finishes, but we have chosen to remain faithful to our local style and history. Thank you also for your patience and understanding about the TV; technical difficulties do happen from time to time and I am so glad we were able to fix that for you right away. Thanks again for taking the time to review our property! Mahalo, Chloe

Beautiful Home on a Beautiful Beach!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here (5 people) for my wedding, which was up the street at Waimanalo Beach Park. The setting is amazing, and the beach is uncrowded and beautiful. The home had everything you need for the beach, including chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling gear, etc. In addition, the property has outdoor showers and an outdoor toilet, a grill, a garage, a gate, and many other amenities.

Three bedrooms are on the first floor (each with their own bathroom), and the living room, kitchen, and an additional bedroom (less private, as there is no real door) are on the second floor. This worked well for us, with my husband and I in the master bedroom, 1 person each in the other bedrooms). The recent addition of individual air conditioners in each room was really great. We didn't need it upstairs, as the house is designed to have great air flow and is kept cool by ocean breezes (which were quite heavy when we were there). But downstairs, we ran the air conditioner in our room at night, and it made it quite comfortable to sleep. I know that few rental homes have AC, at least in the price range I was looking in, so this was a great amenity and I imagine it would be even more necessary in summer for those of us used to having it.

I loved staying in Waimanalo, which has a beautiful beach and is close to many sights and activities such as Hanauma Bay, Makapu Point and Beach, and the Sea Life Park. Kailua, to the north, is about 20 minutes away, and Waikiki is about 30-40 minutes. I love this part of Oahu and would definitely stay here again! Chloe was very helpful and attentive, and is easy to get in touch with.

Owner's Response: Aloha Jen, Mahalo again for choosing our beach house for your wedding accommodations! I am so pleased to hear that we provided everything you needed, and that our new air conditioners made for comfortable sleep – that’s a priority for us! We installed them after previous guests informed us that they weren’t used to our tropical weather; we do want our guests to be as comfortable as possible. I am also happy to hear that you enjoyed the wonderful beaches and attractions near our house and discovered the beauty and tranquility of the Windward side. We’d love to host you again! A perfect "10" .. really!

  • 5 of 5

We had a phenomenal week with 3 families under one roof and glorious room to spread out! A beach with white sand that stretches the property, check - Winds that cool you from lounge chairs on our spacious beachfront patio, check - 4 beautiful clean bedrooms (with ocean view) and bath, check! We were just so impressed with these accommodations and the number of amenities that came with our lodging that we had no desire to leave. Beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, sand toys and more. The spacious gated yard in the front and back yard that leads to the beach made everyone feel at home. Two refrigerators made food storage a breeze. Aunty “M” never made me feel this welcome.

The home sits on the east side of the island with beautiful white sand beaches and trade winds to keep you cool. With unparalleled views of the ocean out the back & the mountains out the front, this is an ideal spot. Thanks for sharing your home with us, we would love to come back!

I'm so glad that it had everything you were looking for, and we feel so blessed to be located on such a beautiful beach. This is a wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Eight adult members of my family stayed here 9 days, and loved it. The house looks through the palm trees to the beautiful white sandy beach directly in front. The ocean water is warm!! We enjoyed swimming and walking the beach. Chloe provided lots of chairs and water toys to enhance our experience. The home was spotless, and stocked with good quality kitchenware, towels, & very comfortable beds. AC in each bedroom and the living room. She provided all the common spices and condiments, cooking oil...most anything you could ask for. All the rooms look out at the beach, plus a roomy deck for outside relaxing. Everything is in good condition. Coded locked gates provided security, as the front of the yard and the beach are public property.

We were on Oahu for a wedding, and this was the perfect place for us to stay. We got our whole damage deposit back, too!

Owner's Response: Aloha Gwen, I am so happy to hear that you loved your stay at our beach house! And I am delighted to hear that the small (and not so small) things we provide enhanced your experience and ensured that you had everything you needed. Thank you also for informing other guests that our house is indeed locked and secure. Just to clarify, the front yard is private and enclosed with a fence and a locked gate. The back “yard” is actually the beginning of the public beach, and is therefore public property. This is what it means to be literally beachfront! And of course, we always return the damage deposit in full if there are no damages. Mahalo again for choosing our beach house for your Hawaiian vacation and we hope to host you again soon!
