About the property

4 Bedroom, 4.5 Bath Family-Friendly Beachfront Estate with Amazing Ocean Views

Relax "Under the Palms" in a 1930's-style plantation home with the 2015 best beach as your backyard (literally!) This spacious, 2-story beach house offers gorgeous ocean views, a large front yard for BBQs, and miles of secluded beach outside your backdoor.

NOTE: We do NOT allow WEDDINGS, RECEPTIONS, OR EVENTS OF ANY SIZE.

IMPORTANT: For all other inquiries, please click "ASK OWNER A QUESTION" and introduce yourself before making a reservation request! Please do NOT use the "Request to Book" or "Book it Now" button. Our beach house is very special to us, so we take time to get to know our guests before approving any reservation requests. Sharing about yourself, who you will be traveling with, the purpose of your travels and your plans for your vacation will help us to determine if our house is appropriate for your needs.

A spacious beachfront estate awaits you on breathtakingly beautiful Waimanalo beach. Get away from the noise and the crowds and enjoy a relaxing vacation in the countryside. This 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath estate was designed especially for enjoyment of our spectacular ocean views. Enjoy unbeatable ocean views from the second-story picture windows that line the living room, dining room, and upstairs bedroom, while a fully equipped kitchen looks out on the lush Ko'olau Mountain Range to one side, and the ocean to the other. Plentiful windows and island breezes keep the house cool and naturally well ventilated, however air conditioning is also provided for the comfort of guests who may not be used to our island temperatures and humidity.

All bedrooms offer gorgeous ocean views as well. In fact, you can take in the world-famous Waimanalo sunrise without leaving the comfort of your bed! All bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning and ceiling fans. Children in particular love our twin-size window beds available in two of the downstairs bedrooms. Fall asleep to the gentle sound of the waves and the wind rustling through the coconut trees from any room in the house. Enjoy stargazing on the beach, or simply enjoy the reflection of the moonlight on the water from your bed.

The property includes a coconut grove in the spacious front yard, a paved BBQ area, and direct access to the beach. Savor ocean views and the island breeze from your private second-story lanai, accessible directly from the living room. Waimanalo beach is also perfect for boogie boarding, a favorite pastime of local children, and you'll find plenty of boogie boards in the garage for your enjoyment.

Enjoy the property as if it were your own. The house is equipped with a keyless entry lock, which will allow you to check-in at your leisure anytime after your official check-in time.

We like to get to know our guests before finalizing any bookings. Please click "CONTACT OWNER" to contact us rather than the "Request to Book" button. Please let us know the purpose for your visit and tell us about your family or the group with whom you will be traveling. This will help us ensure that the property is appropriate for your needs so that you can enjoy a relaxing vacation.

Also, please note that if you are requesting to check-in on a date when we have another guest checking out, you will be required to check-in late (at or after 6 pm). Similarly, you will be required to check-out early (at or before 9 am) if we have another guest checking in the day you are checking out. This is due to the fact that our house is quite large and takes a significant amount of time to clean between guests. We appreciate your understanding of this policy as it allows us to adequately prepare our home for you or for the next guest.

Waimanalo is where the cars move slow and the island breezes blow - truly the place to get away from it all. Enjoy a sleepy, beachside community of local residents with very few tourists. You'll find small convenience stores and restaurants only a few blocks away, including a 7-11, a McDonald's, and a few local favorites: Serg's Mexican Kitchen, Keneke's BBQ (which also serves up local style - read "large" - shave ice!), Ono Steaks & Shrimp Shack, Hawaiian Island Cafe, 'Ai Love Nalo vegan restaurant and Waimanalo Market Co-op. Although Waimanalo is secluded, it's only a 10 minute drive from Kailua town, with its multitude of restaurants, boutiques, and other conveniences, including a Whole Foods and Target.

Families and snorkelers alike will be happy to know that Waimanalo is also home to world-famous Hanauma Bay, where thousands of brightly colored tropical fish swim around our corals to the delight of generations of children and adults.

For an up-close marine life experience, drive 10 minutes up the highway to Sea Life Park. Swim with dolphins, sea lions, sting rays, or even sharks! See the world's only wholphin, experience a top rated Hawaiian luau, enjoy dolphin and sea lion shows, touch sea urchins, learn about penguins, and feed sea turtles all in one day!

The Honolulu Polo Club plays on Sunday afternoons at 3 pm during the summer and fall months (May through October) at the polo fields which are located within walking distance of the house. Entrance is $5/adult, and free for military and kids 12 and under! If you've never seen a polo game before, you are in for a good time, and there are even free brochures about how to watch the game. The polo club also offers lessons for riders of all ages and ability levels.

Almost perfect... the house, the beach, the remoteness exceeded expectation. But...

  • 4 of 5

I stayed here in August with my mother, sister-in-law and our combined 5 kids ages 11-15. The house was perfect for us, well situated on the beach, with windows facing the ocean to take full advantage of the view. The house had all of the amenities, including plenty of beach chairs and toys. The first afternoon we settled in and spent the entire evening playing in the surf. Literally nobody else there on a truly pristine white sand beach. It was awesome. The next day though one of the kids was stung by a Portaguese Man-o-war... and we soon learned that we had arrived during an "infestation"-- which yielded the beach un-swimmable for the remainder of the week. Each time we thought it safe and ventured in-- within minutes someone was stung. Total bummer! Not Chloe's fault-- but I do wish there had been some warning that this happens on the eastern-windward side of the island. Had we known what to look for-- or how common and in the end fairly minor the stings are, the kids would not have been so frightened. They hurt for 20 minutes or so and as long as you are not allergic-- the pain subsides. But gone was our ability to swim out front in any kind of care free way. On the bright side, we did explore other parts of the island and go on hikes inland-- all of which were great. But I was so looking forward to the beachfront holiday and that fantasy did not come true.

Owner's Response: Aloha Jill, I am so glad that our house was perfect for you, and that you were able to enjoy all of our amenities and a lovely first evening on our beautiful beach! I am so sorry, however, that you were unfortunate enough to have come during a Portuguese Man-of-War visit. We have never had guests encounter so many and it is infrequent that our guests are stung. There is a risk of them on all Hawaii beaches, however, so thank you for alerting me to the need to inform future guests about this possibility. I have now included a warning in the informational email I send to guests prior to their visit, including information on how to spot Portuguese Man-of-War, what to do if you see them, how to treat a sting and where we stock remedies in the house. I am glad you were able to enjoy other parts of the island and I am sorry again that your stay at our beach house did not turn out the way you expected. I hope you will have a better experience on our islands in the future! Mahalo, Chloe

Once again a fantastic stay - perfect for an extended family. Very child/toddler friendly with lots of toys and equipment. The new renovations looked great and are a big improvement.

Best vacation ever!

  • 5 of 5

The house was incredible, and the location even more so. Sweeping views of the ocean and Rabbit island from every room, and just 50 yards to the beach. We got up every morning for the sunrise (I am NOT a morning person), had a little sunrise swim, then ate breakfast and went back into the water until lunch. then back out to til dinner, then back out for a moonlit swim after dinner! Rinse, repeat. Our friends with kids loved it too, because the waves were fun for adults to bodysurf but small enough to not be dangerous. If you, like us, just want to get away and turn off the news and recharge your batteries and soak up the views and the sun and the surf, you will be happy as the day is long. Can't recommend it enough. I wish we could do it every year! They have everything you need, once you get groceries you don't even have to leave the grounds. 10 boogie boards, beach chairs, snorkels and fins, outdoor showers, beach towels, etc. We ate in most nights or went and got plate lunch at L&L BBQ or at the Aloha Steak and Shrimp shack down the street. I wish i was a kajillionaire and we could have stayed for a couple of months instead, but I'm thankful for the time we had. Thanks again for the Hawaiian hospitality!!

The perfect place for our Hawaiian getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We love this house! My family of 6, my mom, and my sister's family of 3 stayed for a week and were not ready to leave! The kitchen is well-equipped. The home is clean and bright with gorgeous views of one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen. It was so easy to fall into an island rhythm: Coffee on the lanai upstairs to watch the sunrise, a run down the beach, low tide beach-play in the surf, a walk to a few of our favorite eateries for lunch, then an afternoon of some excellent body boarding! Our kids range in age from 8-18. They all had a blast! The home has everything you need for the beach. The outdoor showers with hot water were well appreciated! We used the upstairs bedroom(the spacious bedroom with the most amazing views) as master suite in addition to the master bedroom. The upstairs bedroom is off the kitchen/dining room and is separated by a curtain in the doorway, it also has a staircase from the first floor that we used a folding screen to provide privacy and prevent kids from using those stairs (there is another set into the living room). Privacy was not an issue. The sounds of the surf and constant the breeze provides a lovely white noise. We all enjoyed the puzzles and games provided. Our beds were very comfortable; the linens nice. The younger kids loved the window beds. We were sad to leave this little piece of paradise and are already planning our return!
