About this property

An Exotic "Nest" In A Tree With A Surprise At Every Turn. Eclectic Modern Design

Our newest addition to the vacation rental market in Ajijic is a one bedroom, 2 story modern home that is located just 200 feet from the Malecon Park (on the shores of Lake Chapala). This eclectic glass and steel home has a ground floor patio with BBQ, wet bar and dining area (all outside) in a lovely walled in terrace under the shade of one of the gigantic trees. On the first floor there is a built-in table for 4 with a small sitting area as in a studio apartment , modern equipped kitchen and a 1/2 bath for guests (laundry area off the kitchen).
On the second floor you find the bedroom, an office/TV room, a mountain view balcony with Nespreso Coffee maker and wine cooler and of course every room has views of the tree from 270 degrees.
El Nido, which means the 'nest' in Spanish, has ceiling to floor windows on both levels, marble floors downstairs and Mexican cantera stone floors upstairs. A fully electric kitchen with all the accessories for gourmet cooking. Internet (WiFi), Cable TV, Smart TV, purified water, ice maker and solar hot water. We designed El Nido to help you feel like you are in the tree … all the comforts of a 1st class hotel with spaces designed for 1st class casual living. Art works and unique architectural features abound and will leave you with a long memory of your stay in El Nido.
The bedroom has a California King mattress/box spring unit imported from the USA and as in all rooms, a beautiful view of the tree in which you live. Your dressing area is off the bedroom and it is there that you access the small balcony which offers panoramic views of the mountains, the village rooftops, the church steeple and if you're up early enough lovely sunrises over Ajijic every morning!
Complimentary breakfasts every weekend served in your home or at the local restaurants.
The house is located on a very small, tree lined, one way street with no parking allowed, that leads to the Malecon in Ajijic.

The Nest a perfect perch in Ajijic
My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful six weeks in El Nido. The location is excellent. The decor is beautiful, artistic and easy living. The owners Tom and Ricardo took very good care of us and whatever we needed. They responded to our request quickly and kindly. We're so happy we found them and will return again and again.

Awesome House, Great Location our stay was a delight
This property is exceptional, interesting, well designed, charming and so full of natural light because of the many windows and sky lights. An excellent place to de-stress, relax and just enjoy time. It is within walking distance to a wide variety of shops, galleries', restaurants, the Malecon and the Plaza. You could not find a nicer and more helpful owner than Ricardo.

We are a pair of artistic men who love design and originality. We have built and/or remodeled several homes in the area and this time did something we have never done before, created a completely new concept in vacation rentals … super modern, exposed conduit wiring, bare brick interior walls, steel and glass exteriors and the coup de tat is the 75 foot tall tree in the center of the house .. thus the name El Nido (the nest). We run a large second hand/antiques concern in Ajijic. The oldest such store in the area. It is now in it's 32nd year, currently we offer modern design elements along with antiques and art.

Why they chose this property

You have never stayed in anything like this place .. original design features, comfort and convenience to everything the village has to offer while feeling like you are a million miles away from it all when you are nestled in your 'nest'!
There are two gigantic primavera trees on the property (the house is wrapped around one), they are members of the Bignoniaceae and Tabebuia families and bear gigantic yellow bloom clusters in the late spring!

What makes this property unique

Gourmet cookware, European style kitchen, laundry and other features. Complimentary breakfasts on the weekends from two of our local restaurants, plus free home delivery of meals off their menus … just call and order (Weds-Suns only) and they'll deliver at no extra charge, to our guests only! 766 2876
Breakfast in bed! Just call! 766 2876
Capuchino on your second level terrace … just call! With covid changes in hours at the coffee shop you may need to call for the current schedule.
Our guests in Late spring get the treat of being in the tree when it blooms a brilliant yellow and explodes with color you will never forget!!
