About the property

Unique hideaway for adults $310/night/ four people, 3 bdrms., 1/1/2 baths

"What a beautiful, hidden gem you have here!" "The Treehouse had everything we needed....most especially peace, quiet, and rest in beautiful surroundings." "Going to sleep and waking up to the gorge outside was one of the many reasons to love this house." "We feel refreshed and recalibrated..........thank you for providing such a unique and enchanting home!" Just a few comments from our guest book at The Treehouse.

The Treehouse sits on the edge of a 60 ft. cliff, overlooking the hills, with a babbling brook down below. Unique, fun, and probably unlike anything you've experienced! Well-equipped kitchen, gas Hearthstone fireplace in living room, miles of trails out the back door for hiking, snowshoeing, or backcountry skiing. Relax in the hot tub, or fire up the wood sauna and roll in the snow (you know you've always wanted to!). Many private trails, right from the door, lead to the brooks and waterfalls. Go have a picnic, just like when you were a kid.

In the spring, summer, or fall, bring your bike for a tour of the back roads, or the new Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, just a half mile down the road! Hikers will love the nearby Long Trail, or riding the gondola up to the top of Mt. Mansfield. Every season is truly spectacular here.

Three bedrooms, two with queen sized beds, one with twin beds. Living room also has one full sized convertible. 1 1/2 baths, washer/dryer, Dish TV. Central heat, backup generator in case of power outage, Free wireless internet. Near Stowe, Smuggler's Notch, and Jay Peak Resorts. For cross country skiing, there is the Trapp Family Lodge (where you can also book a sleigh or wagon ride, depending on the season) and the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. Vermont has also become renowned for its wineries and microbreweries. Definitely worth taking the time to tour them. There is so much to do in this little piece of heaven, or do nothing at all. Make your own adventure!

Because of the layout and location on the house (on a cliff), it really is not "kid friendly" , especially for young children.

No pets, please. This is also a non smoking property.

About Sandy Bender

I am a native Vermonter (also called a "Woodchuck") who loves the peacefulness and serenity of the northern Vermont hills. My husband and I raised our family here, and now I spend my time working on the trails in the woods, shoveling horse manure, and trying to keep the fox from stealing my chickens.

Sandy Bender purchased this house in 2014

Why Sandy Bender chose Stowe Area

This property is just "down the road a piece" from ours, and I've had my eye on it for years. We were able to buy it last year, and have put our heart and soul into upgrades, fixes, and additions. I think you will find all the comforts of home, but better, because you're on vacation!

What makes this house unique

If you're looking for a unique place to vacation, close to all the outdoor activities you can think of, this is surely it!

*My guests have all written in a Guest Book we keep over at The Treehouse, talking about their stays. I treasure it! If you're interested, and want to see their recommendations, please feel free to let me know and I will email them over. Thanks for your interest!

Guestbook comments from the owner

The property is all we had hoped and more. Every detail was thought of and we felt at home immediately. It's obvious how much love and care you've both put into your "Treehouse" near Stowe. If and when we come back for a visit, we'll definitely be staying here. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

Cozy and unique vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

My time at The Treehouse ranks among my top vacation experiences yet!

My husband and I decided we wanted a trip away to relax and enjoy the winter sports Vermont has to offer. We chose to stay at The Treehouse and couldn't be happier with our decision!

We arrived late at night after a series of flights, and were delighted to find the fridge stocked with breakfast for the next morning! Sandy, our host, was so wonderfully considerate to save us an early morning trip to the grocery store. The house was beautifully furnished and impeccably clean. The place was tucked away amongst loads of trails, yet a short drive to the ski resorts. The hot tub was clean, filled, and ready for our arrival! The windows were huge to allow for lots of natural light in the daytime. Sandy was incredibly helpful and accommodating with our questions and concerns. We were able to do lots of snowboarding, exploring, and relaxing- precisely what we needed!

My husband and I are so grateful for our time at The Treehouse and will certainly be back soon!

Perfect Vermont escape

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Sandy's treehouse over the New Year holidays with some friends and we couldn't have asked for anything more for our holiday! The house is located in a peaceful and picture perfect corner of the woods and has everything you could want for a winter vacation: hot tub, sauna, lovely living space and comfortable bedrooms and access to a couple of private nature trails. Sandy was extremely helpful with the reservation process and gave us lots of tips to help plan our stay, pack appropriately and get there safely. The kitchen is really well equipped and Sandy even left us some much appreciated maple syrup and fresh eggs. Would definitely recommend this house to a couple or close friends who are looking for a quiet escape in a lovely location. We can't wait to come back!

Treehouse In the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed at Sandy's treehouse near Stowe, Vermont. This was an awesome hidden treehouse in the mountains and had everything you could need on a vacation... hot tub, sauna, snow sleds. It was truly a magical vacation. Sandy went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed, including fresh eggs, maple syrup, fresh baked cookies, and more. She met us when we arrived to give us a tour of the property and explain how to work some things (such as the electric fireplace). She gave us recommendations on fantastic places to eat in the area, as well as some good ski slopes for beginners (Smuggler's Notch versus Stowe) and other things to do in the area (different trails to visit during our time). She also called to check in on us when she heard the roads were covered in ice and to let us know the snowplow was en route. Overall, this was an awesome vacation for my family in an awesome, unique location with a wonderful host. Thanks so much Sandy!

Unique Treehouse

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at the Treehouse over XMAS holidays. The property was gorgeous. Sandy was a most gracious host. She had baked us free shortbread cookies, fresh eggs, and maple syrup. The property had everything you could imagine. The beds were all so so comfortable. Sandy was very easy to deal with during the reservation process as well. Anything I mentioned she went above and beyond in getting; including board games which we enjoyed and a XMAS tree already up when we got there. I would highly recommend this property for anyone traveling to that area.

Homey Treehouse

  • 5 of 5

When I first drove into the driveway, I was in awe of this unique home! It is such a cool looking building, and even has a sauna a few meters from the house. I feel right at home and cozy staying in this "treehouse". There are so many different places to curl up and read a book, surf the web, or admire the Vermont nature with all of the windows. Great walking trails right from the door, internet is fast, kitchen is great. Many bedrooms, and you don't feel crowded. I loved the shower on the 2nd floor, very roomy and clean! Overall, great experience! If you're looking for a home-away-from-home, treehouse getaway...here's your place!

Vermont is home to many wineries, craft beers, and distilleries, all with tours and tastings. Johnson Woolen Mills is three miles away for indulging your "Inner Woodchuck", Butternut Mountain Farm in Johnson is 'the' place for maple syrup and other Vermont products. Don't forget a visit to the famous Trapp Family Lodge, where you can book a romantic sleigh ride with the beautiful Belgians, Rex and Burt. Then or course, there is Ben and Jerry's in Waterbury. If you are more interested in "doing stuff", just down the road from The Treehouse is the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, which connects neighboring towns and countryside by bike, skis, horses, or on foot. Right out the door are trails for snowshoeing, hiking, and wandering in the woods. As you see, you can be busy every hour you are here, or just hang out in the hot tub and relax. The choices are endless!
