As an interior designer I saw the potential for saving and restoring this little cabin. It was almost 2 years of hard work. I rent it out to help pay for the cost of my restoration and to let others enjoy this little place as much as I do. Its is my favorite place to be.
My design studio and home are just a few miles away from Dog Trot which makes it easy to manage. I really enjoy meeting all the nice people that have stayed at my cabin. Many guest have returned back for multiple stays. Some guest have left behind a nice note telling me how much they enjoyed staying at Dog Trot Cabin...which makes all of my hard work worth while.
Owner/Property Manager purchased this cabin in 1989
My little cabin is located across the street from Fletcher Park, an 80 acre nature park and within the city limits of Cleveland makes Dog Trot a unique get away close to my home.
Location, Location, Location just a few minutes from historic district of downtown Cleveland and short distance from equestrian events.
Although it has been a while since our stay and I am just now writing a review, I have fond memories of this trip. My husband and I stayed here when celebrating our 5th anniversary. Admittedly, we started booking too late and couldn't find anything in Chattanooga, but are glad we found this oasis.
The cabin was incredibly clean which is something I am picky about with rentals. The decor was also so homey and inviting. The back patio was a nice spot although fairly buggy in September. The welcome snacks and dog treats were above and beyond expectations and so thoughtful.
Although Cleveland didn't have much to offer, we did enjoy Cafe Roma, rafting on the Ocoee, and walking through Fletcher Park across the street.
My husband and I had a great stay at Dog Trot Cabin. Very cozy and relaxing. Very well appointed. Spent some time hiking and enjoying the scenery at Cherikee National Forrest. Close to restaurants but also secluded enough for a retreat. Anne the owner was great to work with.
What a great little place. We had mostly rain during our three night stay here, but what a great stay it was nonetheless. Anne (the owner) was a great source of information and checked in to see how we were doing. Not only that, but a few "welcome" snacks were left out, not only for us, but for our two dogs as well. The location of the cabin in Cleveland, TN is just a few minutes from restaurants and stores, but it feels like you're forever away when you drive down the driveway to the cabin because it's much more secluded than it appears. The cabin is located right in a residential neighborhood, but you get very little noise from the street and the neighbors on either side of you are located up on giant hills. There's also plenty of tree cover.
I loved all the decorations inside and just loved it here. The thread count on the sheets must have been about a million because they were the softest sheets I've ever been on. In the mornings I sat out back on the red swing and got to read. There is also a stream on the property that you can hear from the swing.
The only issues we encountered was the neighbor to the right (when you're looking at the back of the cabin) lets their dog run freely. Multiple times everyday we would find him on this property. This was an issue because we had our two dogs with us and so before I let them out, I had to do a perimeter sweep to make sure he wasn't around, and if he was, I had to chase him back to his house. Additionally, the soaking tub, while it looks wonderful, wasn't very useful. The hot water ran out before the tub was even half way filled up. Not only that, but the overflow drain is located about 1/2 way down the tub, so when I got in, the water hit the overflow drain and started draining and my stomach wasn't even covered. I basically got in the tub, and got right back out. But that aside, we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Anne, if you're reading this, I think we could be friends if our lives ever crossed in day to day living. Raccoons have always been one of my favorite animals and I'd love to hear the story of how you came to own some. I spent a lot of time looking at your photos of them. Thanks for sharing your little piece of Tennessee with us. We had a lovely trip and I loved it here.
This review is long overdue--this is an absolutely lovely cabin. Definitely one of my favorite places to stay using HomeAway so far. My dog loved it as well. Very clean, beautiful, and relaxing. Highly recommended.
A great little getaway that is perfect for a small family and a couple of Yorkies. It's quiet and secluded, but your not far from anything that you will need. Be sure and look for the deer in the front yard early in the morning.
It's a prefect little cabin, secluded but convenient. It's homey and comfortable, just a wonderful place to get away.
