As an interior designer I saw the potential for saving and restoring this little cabin. It was almost 2 years of hard work. I rent it out to help pay for the cost of my restoration and to let others enjoy this little place as much as I do. Its is my favorite place to be.
My design studio and home are just a few miles away from Dog Trot which makes it easy to manage. I really enjoy meeting all the nice people that have stayed at my cabin. Many guest have returned back for multiple stays. Some guest have left behind a nice note telling me how much they enjoyed staying at Dog Trot Cabin...which makes all of my hard work worth while.
Owner/Property Manager purchased this cabin in 1989
My little cabin is located across the street from Fletcher Park, an 80 acre nature park and within the city limits of Cleveland makes Dog Trot a unique get away close to my home.
Location, Location, Location just a few minutes from historic district of downtown Cleveland and short distance from equestrian events.
My husband and I rented the cabin for an extended time for contract work I was doing in Cleveland. The cabin could not have been more perfect, it was clean, had everything we needed and it was in a safe, quiet community. We enjoyed watching the wildlife-the family of seven deer often visited the property while we were there, a chipmunk lives in the cinderblocks and would come out to say "hello." Our dog loved all the land to run around on! My husband enjoyed the wood burning fire pit/grill and I loved reading on the red swing. The Cleveland area is nice, we liked to visit the Greenway park and walk our dog-it runs along a creek. Restaurants in the area that we liked were Aubrey's, City Café and 5 Point Square. Anne was an excellent host and we were so grateful for her generosity in letting us stay there! We look forward to visiting again!
I was just looking for a nice spot to take my wife near the mountains for her birthday and was surprised to find this quaint cabin so close to Cleveland. This little house is like stepping back in time but in a good way. Ms Anne was so easy to deal with. We'll stay here again when we're in Cleveland. Thanks Anne for putting all the hard work in to restore this beautiful property.
From the fresh flowers through the house, to the beautiful patio in the back, this place is amazing! Had a great, quite, relaxing time!
The cabin is located in a quiet setting near town but has the feel of being in the country. Anne, the owner, provided the best customer service and everything was exactly as listed in the property description. It was immaculately clean, well-maintained and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this rental to friends and family, and look forward to returning for another stay at Dog Trot Cabin. It was the most relaxing vacation I have had in many years.
Although it has been a while since our stay and I am just now writing a review, I have fond memories of this trip. My husband and I stayed here when celebrating our 5th anniversary. Admittedly, we started booking too late and couldn't find anything in Chattanooga, but are glad we found this oasis.
The cabin was incredibly clean which is something I am picky about with rentals. The decor was also so homey and inviting. The back patio was a nice spot although fairly buggy in September. The welcome snacks and dog treats were above and beyond expectations and so thoughtful.
Although Cleveland didn't have much to offer, we did enjoy Cafe Roma, rafting on the Ocoee, and walking through Fletcher Park across the street.
My husband and I had a great stay at Dog Trot Cabin. Very cozy and relaxing. Very well appointed. Spent some time hiking and enjoying the scenery at Cherikee National Forrest. Close to restaurants but also secluded enough for a retreat. Anne the owner was great to work with.
you can conveniently hop on I-75 and be in Chattanooga's Aquarium, Imax district within 30 minutes from Dog Trot. Head up Highway 64 to the Ocoee Whitewater center home of the 1996 Olympics. Lee University is just a short 5 minute drive from Dog Trot.
