Nice little haven
5 of us rented this apartment for a girls trip. Having never been to NYC, we didn’t know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. The location is PERFECT! Nestled in a cute neighborhood on the upper west side, you have easy, walkable access to restaurants, shops, groceries, subways, Central Park and the American Museum of Natural History.
The arrival instructions were clear and getting into the apartment was easy. The apartment was meticulously clean and a decent size with 2 separate bedrooms and one bathroom. I wouldn’t say I’m a frequent traveler, but I get around. There were no instructions, suggestions or otherwise. I guess I’m used to finding WiFi code, helpful instructions etc, but there was nothing. Had I known to look at the router box for a code, it would’ve saved me a lot of phone calls and frustration.
We found the beds to be comfortable, but the front bedroom (bunk beds) ran really warm. A fan was already in there, so that helped some. I sleep thru anything, but my companions said it got noisy at times during the night.
The kitchen is seriously lacking in any kind of utensils! No coffee cups?! There is a coffee maker, but no cups. Drinking my coffee from a plastic tumbler bordered on indecent 😂 plus the plastic glasses all had cracks! (Very) Limited silverware, no cooking untensils, pots, pans or anything. And no kitchen towel? Yes, there were paper towels, but come on. Also, there was one smallish bath towel per person and I think one washcloth? Extra towels would’ve been wonderful.
Would I stay here again? You bet! It was a nice little haven in a fantastic location but hit a thrift shop, spend a few bucks and stock the apartment with the basics at least.
Great neighborhood; ok property
The apartment is nicely located a couple of blocks from the 1 & 2 lines and from Central Park, and there are a lot of restaurants in the area. The apartment is located in the back of a building so that the windows look out on the walls of other buildings. It is a very quiet place, but there's no view of the city, so just think about what you want.
The apartment is sparsely furnished - plastic glasses, no paper towels, and only one bath towel per person (and not nice ones). Beds are fine. When we arrived, the place had not been cleaned. The property manager sent someone to clean right away, but I had to go to a business dinner that evening without being able to freshen up from travel. The manager had agreed to a discount when I called in the problem, but we have not received compensation. Once the garbage was taken out, linens changed, and everything cleaned, it was nice enough.
