This is a very special 200+ year old former dairy farm (3900+ sq feet of house) on 72 Acres. 2 stocked ponds and plenty of space for large gatherings, family reunions, executive retreats, or just to relax in private seclusion.

The upper deck, large screened porch, hot tub, fire pit, and patio areas all provide unique gathering areas.

The real experience with this property is enjoyed on the outside and you and your guests can spend all day relaxing and exploring the property. It is truly serene and peaceful. With that said, the house itself is comfortable and nicely set to allow everybody their own space.

The location is also ideal for visiting downtown Washington DC or Baltimore (about 45 easy minutes drive to each). Downtown Urbana, Maryland is only 5 minutes away for dining and groceries. Downtown Frederick is about 10 minutes away and has plenty of great restaurants, antiquing, and lots to do.

The farm has goats, ducks, geese, chickens, cats, and horses. Come see the baby goats in the spring and have farm fresh eggs for breakfast every morning.

There are 2 stocked ponds (largemouth bass, blue gill, catfish, and crappie). Fishing is allowed without special permit or MD license, although bass is catch and release only. Swimming is allowed in the upper pond.

Hunting is allowed on the property but only with special permission and additional cost. Deer hunting only, during normal MD deer hunting season.

Words cannot describe how nice this property really is. Sleeps 14 easily, and finished attic can sleep multiple kids. Camping is also allowed for those adventurous types.

Plus, we have 3 very nice deep Queen blow up mattresses that can be set up in the attic or one or both of the front rooms.

The house has 2 TV's. One TV in the downstairs living room and one TV in the attic (in space we created specifically for kids to hang out in). The house also has basic Cable TV, DVD, and strong wireless access. While both TV's are nice, we only have the cable hooked up to the downstairs TV. The upstairs attic TV can be hooked up using chrome cast or any other wi fi device.

The main structure of the house is more than 200 years old, built from chestnut logs, and the logs have been exposed to help add to the charm and history of the property. There is a small stone building on the property that originally functioned as a smokehouse and living quarters for farm help.

2 full baths in farmhouse, and large outdoor bath w/ shower in adjacent old dairy barn.

House has modern plumbing, full set of new kitchen appliances, and full size washer/dryer. 3 wood stoves help augment heat and add to the charm and experience of the property. Firewood for both house and fire pit is included in cost of the rental.

*** Note - The upper bathroom is attached to a bedroom, and so anybody using the upper bathroom will have to go through the bedroom for access. Please think about whether this will work for your guests. Both bathrooms are on the same side of the house (above each other). The lower bathroom is attached to the kitchen. The Dairy Barn bathroom is a short walk across the drive and is very nice.

About Jeff Aronson/Owner

We purchased this property in 2010 and immediately fell in love with it's country charm. It is not the fanciest or the most upscale piece of property, but it is comfortable and homey and it is easy to find your self relaxing here. We have been coming here almost every weekend for some time, but as our kids have gotten older (and we have gotten busier) we have found that our visits have been spreading further apart and we decided it was a shame to have the property empty when it should have life and happiness surrounding it. This is why we are so happy to share the experience with you.

Growing up close by in Montgomery County, it ws very important for us to stay close to family and friends in the area. When we told people we had bought a farm, they were shocked to learn how easily accessible it was and how comfortable it felt to be here. Once they came, it was hard to get them to leave. This is how we feel almost every time we are here.

What makes this farmhouse unique

This property allows the privacy and peace that country living provides, while being close enough to both Washington DC, Baltimore, and downtown Frederick to enjoy easy access to all of the areas main attractions. There are very few properties available like this that are this close to the Washington DC and Baltimore. MD.

Also, the laid back set up of the property is very conducive to all types of outdoor gatherings and it is a great place for kids of all ages to explore.

Amazing place! Beautifully kept, and relaxing.

This place is amazing. I and about 16 other people stayed here. We had a beautiful weekend. The animals were just icings on the cake. The home is super clean and well kept. There is board games to play and all the rooms are beautiful in their own way. Owner is super pleasant. I have done rentals on here before where owner just hard to deal with but not with Jeff! He is just great! I definitely recommend this to anyone looking to disconnect and relax away. Definitely will be back!

Delightful stay as we attended several events for a wedding in Frederick. Had several guests for a brunch and the screened in porch was fabulous for entertaining. I could have stayed there all day! An interesting historical property and a fun place to explore and wander around. Only reason we did not give this 5 stars is because of the upstairs bathroom situation. It was awkward to walk through a bedroom to get to the bathroom or walk downstairs in the middle of the night. But the owners were upfront about this in their property description. Very nice place to stay and the owners were very quick to respond to any questions we had after we arrived. We would recommend this property!

Exhale & Enjoy

First, the property owner Jeff Aronson was just great. When another rental we were going to use fell through, I reached out to Jeff and he was able to get the house cleaned and ready for my group within a matter of hours. He was hospitable and also very flexible with the number of days for our Friday to Monday stay.

The property itself is not newly renovated or luxurious. What it is however is an escape from every day life where you can just take a breath, relax, and enjoy time with your family or friends. It’s a big farm and house with an awesome gigantic screened-in porch that we found ourselves constantly taking advantage w whether that be while drinking coffee as the sun came up or playing board games with the kids in the evening.

There’s enough to do on the property so you can keep yourself entertained with two ponds for fishing/floating, a fire pit for s’mores, horses and goats, and a variety of games (air hockey, fuse ball, ping pong) in one of the buildings.

Two hours from Richmond and less than an hour from DC, it’s a very nice weekend getaway to truly just get away.

I dropped it to four stars for a few reasons. It’s a 200-year-old house and as such is fairly worn and the layout of the rooms and bathrooms is a little off putting. The hot tub was not functional when we were there even though it was in the pictures. And there are folks on the property from time to time to help maintain the farm and animals that may turn some people off. We didn’t find them overly intrusive, but we were definitely aware of them.

Overall, it was a great choice for my family for a three-day getaway. We were able to relax, spend some quality time together, and use the property and house regardless of the weather.

Great Place You Won't Be Disappointed

Although we live in MD we rented this beautiful property to stay during my son's wedding, rehearsal dinner and reception weekend. We were not disappointed and the pictures do not do this place justice. There is plenty of space indoors and out to accommodate a large group and in our case the owner, Jeff, allowed us to have our rehearsal dinner catered there. I got so many compliments on how beautiful the place was it was truly a great evening and the weather was just beautiful. Jeff is very responsive in all communications and has a very detailed package on the history of the property and what to do in the area. I am thinking about having our family reunion there (small group). Thanks Jeff everything was great, I just wished I had more time to explore and enjoy.

Great Value, Spacious, a Lot of Fun

This is a beautiful farm house located *seemingly* in the middle of nowhere, in the countryside. I say seemingly because it has that relaxing countryside feel despite being a 5-10 minute drive from breweries and some great food options (not to mention Starbucks / supermarkets / etc...

I highly recommend this house. Everything was well taken care of and maintained. There is a ton of space for sleeping, playing yard games, etc... The picture here do a good job of representing some of the space, though the view from the porch looking out over the farm / ponds is better in reality. It's also fun to have chickens walking about the property. Next door (in their own sections), there are also goats, horses, etc...

The owner was extremely responsive and helpful with local recommendations, etc... It is a working farm so someone came to the property a couple of times per day. While that may bother me, the person was not at all intrusive (and does not enter the house).

We were there for a bachelor party, and our group consisted of mid-to-late thiry-year-olds. It was perfect for us. We played some old drinking games, grilled meat, and caught up over the fire pit at night. This would also be a great house for a family or two or three as there is a lot to do and a lot of space.

A great time at a tremendous value. I would stay here again if I'm ever through the area with a group.

Long weekend at the farm

We are from out of state, but were attending a graduation in the local area. This was a great alternative to hotel rooms. We took the opportunity to spend a long relaxing weekend with extended family. The farmhouse was a great old home with beautiful log walls in the original section. We loved the atmosphere of the farm, and spent a lot of time outside sitting around the fire-pit or playing ping pong with the kids. It's a lovely location, and even my teenagers were hanging at the fences watching the baby goats. I would definitely recommend it as a getaway location!
