Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday villa in San Vito Chietino - Beautiful Italian Villa

3 Bedrooms, two bathrooms, sleeps 8/10

A large family friendly Italian villa perched on a hillside with stunning views over the Adriatic sea. Just below the house there is a lovely secluded cove, wonderful for swimming and diving for mussels! Uchello Marino has three very spacious bedrooms, two of which open onto a large terrace overlooking the sea. Downstairs there is a wonderful kitchen with seating for 12, fully equipped with everything you will need for experimenting with Italian cuisine. There is also a lounge with double doors onto a large terrace with orange trees, again with uninterrupted views of the sea. The villa is surrounded at the back by trees and there is a lovely walk through an orchard and ancient olive groves. A mile away is San Vito marina with shops, bars restaurants and an incredible gelateria!

The resort of Passo Lanciano is less than an hours drive from the house which has very good motorway links.

Top, 1891 metres, it has 2 green runs, 15 blue, 9 red and black runs offering a mix of wooded and open skiing for all abilities. Two ski schools. The larger, sophisticated resort of Roccaraso is an hour and half from the villa and holds world cup and Olympic events and has swimming, ice-skating and bowling too.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had such a lovely time, no one wanted to come home!

Your house is absolutely lovely, so much charm, we're so happy we stayed there and San Vito was a favourite. We went into the mountains to Bomba, Pennapiedimonte, Casoli, Altri and others and thought the old town part of Lanciano was as beautiful and atmospheric as anywhere we've been. We spent out last day in San Vito at Cavaluccios and ate in the restaurant. What a wonderful spot. The Abruzzo region will stay in our minds and we will definately be back.

Very atmospheric Italian villa

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautifully decorated roomy villa with gorgeous views of the sea. There is lots of outside space with a terrace that one can eat outside on (again with beautiful views!). A rocky cove is short walk away. The area is wonderfully nontouristy, with mainly vacationing Italians. We had a lovely holiday here. We mainly cooked at home, but there is a nice village close by with good restaurants and a fantastic gelateria. There are a selection of different types of beaches that are a relatively short drive away. Eileen (the owner) was very good with Emails and answering questions. HIghly recommended if you want to feel at home in a very comfortable villa, and discover a charming and less visited part of Italy!

Owner's Response: Abruzzo does feel very undiscovered compared to Umbria or the Marche and there are some fabulous places to visit within the immediate area of the villa. It is a joy to visit - whatever the season.

Cozy house with wonderful veranda

  • 5 of 5

The house is surrounded by trees and located in such a way to enjoy silence and isolation, while being 3 minutes drive from the marina of San Vito Chietino. The large veranda offers a great view of the sea and it is lovely to have lunch and dinner there. Good value for money choice. The area offers plenty of opportunities to go to different beaches (sand, rocks, gravel) and many very good restaurants specialized in seafood are around. It is also possible to head for the mountains that are about 1 hour driving away.

A beautiful house, immaculately presented

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect holiday here. The house is beautifully presented and we'll maintained and has the perfect setting with stunning views over the Adriatic which took our breath away every morning. Close by you will find beautiful beaches, one within easy walking distance, supermarkets and a great acquapark a short drive away. Dealing with the owner was an absolute pleasure, Eileen always easy mailed or text'd back ASAP and was very friendly. We are would go out of our way to recommend this house to anyone wanting a relaxing family holiday. Ian Bull

Not disappointed, very much as described

  • 5 of 5

This family villa did not disappoint our expectations. It is a beautiful home, with all the comforts and more for our family of eight. The view of the Adriatic is stunning with spectacular sunrises. The town of San Vito Chietino is quaint and most definitely has the best gelato at Copa Di Dora. A short drive from the villa and my morning espressos started off my days like a local. Just sitting at the cafe watching the morning routines was a joy.

Meals on the villa's terrace added to the serenity of the place. The bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen provided everything needed for our stay at the home.

As described, a short walk to the cove provided private swimming for our family anytime of day. A short drive away and we had access to several beaches. A drive to upper San Vito is a must as the view from the lookout on top provides some beautiful views of the countryside.

We would definitely come back and recommend the Villa to others looking to enjoy a lovely town with great Italian hospitality.

Only recommendation, trees are growing tall and are beginning to hide the view to the sea, trimming them would definitely enhance the view and make overlooking the Adriatic from the villa that much more breathtaking.

Character Villa

  • 5 of 5

A distinctive Italian Villa of great character. It is situated in a very private position with wonderful sea views The kitchen and all rooms for that matter were well equipped, and all the beds were very comfortable. We had a wide age range in our party and they all thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The local area is geared up for tourism yet it has not been spoiled by this. The local town has a warm friendly feel about it. The uniqueness of the property with the spacious balcony and terrace meant that this was not the average holiday let, it felt more like a home, and proved to be the perfect base for our visit to this region. Eileen Marino the owner of the villa was particularly helpful and the detailed brochure she provided was a Godsend. The restaurants she recommended were good (visited most of them), probably our favourite was the nearest (less than 100m away) apart from the value for money and the quality of the seafood it meant that we could walk home. I would thoroughly recommend this property, and this region of Italy, we will be returning.

Relaxing hideaway with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

My friends and family had a fantastic holiday at Uccello Marino this year. This is the second time that we have stayed at this very spacious, tranquil paradise. In May and June we had a superb relaxing break. lots to do kids kept constantly on their feet with activities ranging from white water rafting up in the mountains to lovely strolls in the surrounding woods.

We highly recommend this villa to all generations as a wonderful peaceful holiday location.

Owner's Response: We are delighted you enjoyed your second stay at the house. We have around five famlies who have stayed at Uccello Marino several times and it is always a delight to see them returning to our house in Italy. I think the secret is the villa offers privacy but is also close enough to the village and beach that friends or famlies staying there don't feel too isolated - having to drive miles to get to a restaurant, bar or supermarket. Visitors enjoy the views of the Adriatic from the house and the local markets in the villages nearby selling wonderful local food. Abruzzo is a hidden gem and gives a real flavour of Italy.

In Abruzzo, overlooking the Adriatic, close to the region's many golden beaches. The villa is situated on the coastline where you find the protected Trabocchi - wooden fishing huts built on stilts. There is a lovely seafood restaurant a few minutes walk from the house and a mile away from San Vito marina. The port of Ortona and the medieval city of Lanciano are 20 minutes away, as is the stunning Benedictian Abbey of St Giovanni in Venere. There is also an open air pool and tennis courts within fifteen minutes drive, golf 40 mins, and the regions' famous water park in Vasto. The area plays host to numerous traditional festivals often involving wonderful Italian specialities and live music. Within easy reach are the Apenine mountains and the Maiella National park where there are plenty of beautiful walks, mountain bike riding, and horse riding. In the winter there is skiing at Passo Lanciano and Roccarasso. Rome is 2.5 hours away. Pescara Airport 40 minutes.
