Sweet Sea Side Suite, Anguilla, BWI

The Sweet Sea Side Suite is directly on the water on the first floor of a traditionally designed West Indian home in "hip & trendy / restaurant friendly" Island Harbour and features a lovely water front deck with a ladder into the sea for superb snorkeling (2 sets of snorkeling gear are available, but bringing your own gear is best for proper fit with rented equipment available on island). ). Spectacular sunrises and sunsets from the suite's verandahs and deck are complemented by easy access to our beautiful beaches / casual beach bars / gourmet restaurants--a holiday in heaven

The open plan layout of The Suite brings the outside in and the inside out with the living room and front bedroom opening onto a wide verandah which overlooks and is just steps from the sea whereby the second bedroom opens onto a side patio with lovely ocean views. There is also a sea side deck accessed down a tree covered walkway and is a wonderful spot for sunset (or sunrise) libations and snorkeling access. The Suite is fully screened with the master bedroom / dining room / living room all fully air conditioned with the guest bedroom kept "Caribbean Cool" by double fans. As for the Suite's gracious sizing, the interior areas comprise approximately 600 sq ft with the outdoor covered verandahs comprising approximately 550 sq ft providing a total of of 1,110 sq ft of combined Caribbean bliss.

Guests have full and complete unfettered use of the Suite as well as its verandah and side patio along with the coastal deck and sliding water access ladder for a casual yet elegant Caribbean experience. The easiest and best way to get to the Suite is either with a taxi or by rental car from the airport or ferry terminal, whereby I'd recommend renting a car while on island.

The Suite is on the first floor of my home and is down a secluded driveway accessed from a quiet side street ensuring privacy as only the roof of the villa can be seen from the entry road. I fell in love with the house 20+ years ago and love it daily to this day--although I've lived on Anguilla for over 40 years and have traveled extensively, I've never found a home I'd rather own and am now happy to share with guests.

Please be sure to correctly indicate the number of guests so that proper arrangements can be made regarding bedroom preparation and provisioning--additionally, as base rates are calculated on double occupancy, please know there is a per person per night surcharge for additional guests to cover added costs of electricity / water / propane / wear & tear & breakage--in the event the additional guests are only staying for part of your holiday, please let me know directly so we can make proper adjustments.

Great stay. Perfect spot on the island

Anguilla can be hot so it was nice to come back to a shady cool place at the end of the day. We slept great there every night and I thoroughly enjoyed my own personal deck outside the bedroom to do my morning stretches every morning. We had our coffee down on the deck overlooking the ocean. Good central location with lots of great restaurants and beautiful beaches. Lovely outdoor spaces. We had a couple minor maintenance issues but Scott was right there to make everything right. The only complaint we had is that we think a good deep cleaning is in order. Also bring your mosquito repellent. Mosquitoes love all that shade and the beautiful gardens around the house!

Cozy private suite with great host

We spend two weeks at Scott's cozy suite in Island Harbour. The unit was very comfortable for two people - we spend most of our time on the veranda where the breeze kept us cool and we could enjoy the view of the water. The dock provided space to sunbathe. The ladder to the water was a bit of a challenge for us 60+ year olds so we did not dare the dip. The location is a bit remote so a rental car is a must but there are plentiful beach bars/restaurants in Shoal Bay which is one the more beautiful long beaches on the island. Scott was incredibly helpful - providing recommendations for beaches, restaurants and entertainment. He also responded immediately to a few minor issue we had with TV.

Would stay here again in a heart beat

The views from the deck and dock are incredible. Listening to the surf while you sleep and then sitting up in bed in the morning seeing the Atlantic is unforgettable. We loved staying here and Scott made sure we had everything we needed. He was very accommodating and kind. We're hoping to come back soon for a longer stay!

Can’t wait to actually visit

Sadly, I tested positive for COVID two days before my trip and was not able to go. That said, I gave 5 stars for all categories because from the moment I booked (May 2021), Scott has been the ultimate host. As the Anguillian regulations regarding COVID and entry to the country kept changing, he communicated with me throughout. At one point, it looked like I was going to have to quarantine for 4 days upon arrival so he offered to move me to a much larger (and more expensive) property without charging me above what I had already paid. Thankfully, the 4 day quarantine went away and the plan was to stay with the original booking. He showed great flexibility when I contacted him with my COVID status. Now, I’ll be seeing him and staying at this wonderful property in April. I can’t wait. Thanks again for your understanding and flexibility, Scott!

I’ve lived on island since 1977 having moved here when I was 22—my initial years were spent developing and managing Cinnamon Reef Resort; subsequent years were spent raising a family, getting a Masters Degree from MIT in Real Estate Development and starting a number of on island businesses with a focus on real estate sales; recent years have been spent developing those business with my real estate activity now under the banner of Sotheby’s International Realty (but with my still finding time to take the occasional international motorcycle trip in between it all).

Why they chose this property

The SSSS is in "hip and trendy / restaurant friendly" Island Harbour on the less touristy East End of the island. Renting a car is the best way to enjoy Anguilla as getting lost is nearly impossible given our small size however if you manage to get lost anyone you pass road will guide you to where you want to go--there aren't any "bad" areas of the island to worry about as crime is below nominal...also the snorkeling is great from the water front deck and ladder.

What makes this property unique

My Sweet Seaside Snorkeling Suite is located on Captain's Ridge which is east of Island Harbour, Anguilla's picturesque traditional fishing village--from your veranda you'll be able to watch small local fishing boats going out to their fish pots in the morning and returning home in the evening as the sun sets with easy water access so you never have to go far to see fish! And as for the fluent fish and sensual coral , the snorkeling from the Suite's waterfront deck is superb.
