About Bill and Gwen Mann

Gwen and Bill: We live in downtown St. Petersburg and love the area. Being nearby, we are available to assist when needed. We love boating (sorry boats not included in rental) and biking, and keep a couple of bikes in the garage for guests. We have had this second home for 14 years, and moved our primary residence recently from Gainesville, Florida, 160 miles North, to a condo in downtown St. Petersburg.

We have two adult daughters and families (total 5 grandchildren) and the Bayhouse is where we gather. Eleven of us, and we feel very comfortable in this home.

Bill and Gwen Mann purchased this house in 2002

Why Bill and Gwen Mann chose St Petersburg

We are on a beautiful bay in a quiet neighborhood. Downtown St. Petersburg is less than 15 minutes from the Bayhouse and is vibrant with restaurants, shops, museums and more. The beach (our favorite is Pass-a-grille) is just a 15 minute ride away. Rental fee includes taxes (we pay the county 13%) and cleaning ($200 is our cost). Only extra fee is $99 for damage insurance, and a VRBO fee which varies with price and we, as owners do not control.

What makes this house unique

Faces directly out on Boca Ciega Bay

Heated pool

Dock...and you can catch your dinner - trout, snook, redfish and more

Quiet relaxing location

Well equipped kitchen if you choose to cook

Very comfortable mattresses on all beds

Home has the feel of a waterfront vacation home

Owner has separate closets so you feel the home is your own - no owners items in the way in closets or chests

Short -15 minute - ride to beaches, park and downtown St. Petersburg

Comfortable, well appointed home, also serves as owners vacation home.

Excellent restaurants and unique waterfront in downtown St.Petersburg

Co-sleeper and pack and play for our very youngest guests

Incredible sunsets over the bay in backyard, and sunrises in the front yard

Green year round, with lots of flowers and plants, and citrus trees

We have never had a disappointed guest - in 14 years of renting!

This waterfront home is located in a residential area on the Boca Ciega Bay. While the St. Petersburg airport is nearby, Tampa International Airport offers many convenient options.

Beautiful beaches are a short drive with Pass A Grille Beach located 6.5 miles away and Fort De Soto Park located 9.6 miles away.

Vibrant downtown St. Petersburg is 6.5 miles away, with too many attractions to name - a few of our favorites are the Dali Museum, Chihuly Musuem, Tropicana Field, Museum of Fine Arts and Mahaffey Theater. There are outstanding dining options in St. Pete including Bella Brava, 400 Beach, Parkshore Grille and the Birchwood.

There is an abundance of family activities including the Great Explorations Childrens Museum (8 mi.), Sunken Gardens, miniature golf, and of course theme parks in Tampa and Orlando. Busch Gardens is 35 miles and is truly fun for the whole family with botanical gardens, free roaming animal habitats, exciting rides and...Anheuser Busch beer.

There is a Publix grocery store just a few blocks away, as well as restaurants, pharmacies, etc.

This home is the best ever, View, comfort, location, pool, quiet, extremely clean, owners. Every one of the above should get 15 stars. Would love to rent it again for a month next year. Our family had a wonderful month here. Highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a great vacation.

Wonderful, well-equipped and spacious Bay House is a winner!

  • 5 of 5

We totally enjoyed our stay at Bill & Gwen's Bay House! It is a perfect size for large family gatherings (what we had) and a wonderful and relaxing environment. We enjoyed the pool, the sunsets and the new patio cover. While only partially complete, this added a shady place outdoors to congregate. We cooked many meals in the excellent kitchen. Bill is a responsive and responsible host, ever willing to address issues. Our only negative - too short a time to stay!

Beautiful Property

  • 4 of 5

We return to this general part of Florida every year for scalloping and fishing. We have stayed in houses to meet the needs of 8-10 people. This house definitely met our space needs and then some. The common areas were open and well furnished, but not cluttered. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, which was important to those of us who love to cook up the fresh fish and scallops we catch. The outdoor area provided beautiful vistas for us. The owner was very attentive and answered right away when we had questions. It was close enough to downtown nightlife at Treasure Island, yet far enough to provide us with a quiet retreat when we were back at the house. The linens and towels were plentiful which makes travel by air much easier in terms of packing. The house is well maintained. High recommend this place.

Great family vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

Well equipped home. No need to bring anything but food & clothes. Very roomy w/ dining to accommodate all 9 of us at the table for dinner. If we weren't at the beaches (Pass-a-Grill was the best) we were either fishing (caught lots of fish off the dock) or spending time in the pool. It was enjoyable watching the dolfins every morning & even saw a family of manatee. It was fun watching the osprey catch fish & the magnificent frigates gliding above. Bill was a big help guiding us to beaches & restaurants & offered us some mackerel from his fishing outing which we used for a fish fry meal (ummm yummy). Definitely recommend this vacation rental & hope to return someday.

Amazing family vacation! Wildlife and pool fun!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a marvelous stay at the house. It was my family and my brothers family. The boys couldn't get enough of swimming in the beautiful pool. The house has anything you would ever need for cooking as we cooked most of our meals at the house. They have 2 fridges which also came in quite handy because we didn't want to make too many grocery store trips! The beach equipment was excellent as well. It was great to not have to waste money on equipment we were just using that week. The towels and blankets were plentiful, which was really nice as well as I run cold as my husband is always hot! Two of the BEST things about this property--- #1-Bill was an AMAZING home owner and communicator. He is so quick to respond and helpful in your trip planning! He is the best home owner we have ever dealt with and we have done VRBO 8 times now. He went above and beyond to make us comfortable in our stay and we are truly grateful! #2- The wildlife we got to see was incredible. If you rent this home, spend time out on the dock. First of all, it's beautiful and relaxing. Second, we got to see the wildlife. We saw 3 manatee, several schools of sting ray, fish (of course), dolphins almost daily and numerous different types of birds we had to Google! The kids LOVED it and so did the adults. We took our morning coffee out there every morning while the kids all "gamed" on their devices. It was a great house with amazing owners and an incredible vacation! Thanks so much!!

Property exceeded our expectations. Our large family immediately felt at home.

  • 5 of 5

Such a beautiful, spacious and spotless home away from home. Our large family had plenty of space to spread out with the multiple living and dining areas. Views of the bay from the house, poolside or dock were breathtaking. We saw lots of birds, stingrays and dolphins plus incredible sunsets. The home had all the necessary accessories and then some. We did our shopping down the street at the new Publix grocery store. Spent lots of time swimming and grilling out back. Our family did not miss out on beach time either as they are only a short distance away. A huge asset was how accessible the owner was. We certainly did not experience any issues but did appreciate knowing they would be reachable. Would give 10 stars if possible - we highly recommend this property. Will definitely be back.
