Master BR has King bed and TV. 3 guest rooms have queen beds. One BR has bunk beds. TV room with surround sound system.

Our home is close to the world class Fort Desoto Park. This is an 1,136 acre park made up of five interconnected islands, with beaches, piers, an old fort, biking and jogging paths. See http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/05_Ft_DeSoto.htm

Our home is a great base for so many outdoor activities, and many guests choose to spend most of their time right out the house, enjoying the bay, the pool, the views, and the relaxing feel of the place. Our home had been rented until recently through a rental agency, and we have just switched to VBRO. Guest comments in our guest book, over 13 years of sharing our home through rentals, are universally positive - in fact, glowing!

We welcome discussions by phone once you make the initial contact through VRBO.

About Bill and Gwen Mann

Gwen and Bill: We live in downtown St. Petersburg and love the area. Being nearby, we are available to assist when needed. We love boating (sorry boats not included in rental) and biking, and keep a couple of bikes in the garage for guests. We have had this second home for 14 years, and moved our primary residence recently from Gainesville, Florida, 160 miles North, to a condo in downtown St. Petersburg.

We have two adult daughters and families (total 5 grandchildren) and the Bayhouse is where we gather. Eleven of us, and we feel very comfortable in this home.

Bill and Gwen Mann purchased this house in 2002

Why Bill and Gwen Mann chose St Petersburg

We are on a beautiful bay in a quiet neighborhood. Downtown St. Petersburg is less than 15 minutes from the Bayhouse and is vibrant with restaurants, shops, museums and more. The beach (our favorite is Pass-a-grille) is just a 15 minute ride away. Rental fee includes taxes (we pay the county 13%) and cleaning ($200 is our cost). Only extra fee is $99 for damage insurance, and a VRBO fee which varies with price and we, as owners do not control.

What makes this house unique

Faces directly out on Boca Ciega Bay

Heated pool

Dock...and you can catch your dinner - trout, snook, redfish and more

Quiet relaxing location

Well equipped kitchen if you choose to cook

Very comfortable mattresses on all beds

Home has the feel of a waterfront vacation home

Owner has separate closets so you feel the home is your own - no owners items in the way in closets or chests

Short -15 minute - ride to beaches, park and downtown St. Petersburg

Comfortable, well appointed home, also serves as owners vacation home.

Excellent restaurants and unique waterfront in downtown St.Petersburg

Co-sleeper and pack and play for our very youngest guests

Incredible sunsets over the bay in backyard, and sunrises in the front yard

Green year round, with lots of flowers and plants, and citrus trees

We have never had a disappointed guest - in 14 years of renting!

Comfortable with great sunsets

  • 5 of 5

Our party of six adults and four children was very comfortable at the house on Boca Ciega Bay. Daily sunsets are amazing and we saw dolphins every day. The owners were very helpful and friendly and the house has everything that guests could need during their stay. We had a great time and recommend this property very heartily.

Beautiful home and view!

  • 5 of 5

This was an excellent choice for a vacation! Mr. Mann was very nice and accomodating. The home itself was plenty big for our family. All of the bedrooms were perfect. The kitchen and living room area were large and an open concept which is nice for cooking and family time. The home inside and out was spotless, which we always look for. The pool, the dock, the atmosphere was absolutely perfect. The only downside to this home was the fact that beach type activities are a little bit of a drive (15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic). We definitey would like to return for another vacation!

Amazing waterfront home, perfect for a family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time here! The waterfront views are gorgeous… We watched the sunset every night. I couldn't believe that we saw so many dolphin swimming in the bay. My daughters loved watching all of the wildlife, from the beautiful birds to the fish. The house is in perfect condition and had plenty of room for our family. The kitchen was outfitted with everything that we needed. And of course the pool was fantastic!

Wonderful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time. The house is fully stocked with kitchen things, towels, and beach chairs and toys. The house was clean and had a wonderful view. We were able to see dolphins in the mornings. We had plenty of room. The pool is wonderful. The owners are very accommodating, and he even came over and showed the girls how to use Netflix. Thank you for sharing your house with us. We had a wonderful vacation.

Wonderful family friendly home with heated pool!

  • 5 of 5

Bayhouse has so many things going for it, I don't know where to start. It is located in a quiet residential neighborhood directly on the bay and centrally located to many attractions. Bill is a wonderful host and responded immediately to every text or email. The house easily accommodated our family of eight adults, two children, in the bunk beds, and a toddler in a Pack ‘n Play that was provided. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of closet/drawer space in the bedrooms for your stuff. The kitchen has a lot of counter space and is equipped with everything you could possibly need to prepare, cook and serve. There are three common areas, each with a couch and chairs, which come in handy when someone is sleeping because the rest can easily relocate to another area. Being family friendly was an added bonus for us. Aside from the crib, there were beach/pool toys, games, crayons, a children's library and even small colorful drinking cups. Also a pool net for added safety was provided. There were other goodies as well. It's clean, well maintained, exactly as described in the listing and more.

The house was wonderful, but two things about Bayhouse made it outstanding: the fabulous view and the heated pool. The house has an open concept design so whether cooking, eating or just walking room to room you are graced with the view of the glittering water in the pool and the bay beyond with its wildlife. Great blue herons came to visit, as well as pelicans, egrets, anhingas, sea gulls and ospreys, various fish, rays and dolphins. We never tired of listening to the mockingbirds and watching birds dive for fish. The sunsets were stunning.

As for the pool, I’m a beach person and never go into a pool if a beach is available. Learning we’d have to drive to the beach from Bayhouse was at first disappointing. But having a heated pool all to yourself whenever you want certainly changed my mind. The privacy makes it a different experience. All of us in there together laughing, having fun without strangers was kind of nice. With children, not having to schlep gear to and from the beach when the ocean was cool and the weather uncertain was even nicer. Being steps away from their snack, drink and bathroom and the ability to pop a tired and cranky child right into bed after swimming was pretty sweet. But being able to doze in the hammock, take a dip in warm water and just watch the sunset poolside within baby monitor distance was priceless!

The Bay House, 03/12/2016 to 03/19/2016

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at the Bay House from 03/12/2016 to 03/19/2016. From the moment we arrived we felt at home. The house is quite large and its five bedrooms are all very nice. The kitchen is very well equipped and we had everything we needed, just add food and drink. The pool and outdoor patio are awesome. The owner turned on the pool heater prior to our arrival, which worked great for our four-year-old granddaughter. We were able to see lots of fish, dolphins and rays from the dock. The Pass A Grille public beach is just a short drive and we found quick access to a grocery store and restaurants as well. We appreciated the quiet neighborhood and the cozy feel of the home.

This waterfront home is located in a residential area on the Boca Ciega Bay. While the St. Petersburg airport is nearby, Tampa International Airport offers many convenient options.

Beautiful beaches are a short drive with Pass A Grille Beach located 6.5 miles away and Fort De Soto Park located 9.6 miles away.

Vibrant downtown St. Petersburg is 6.5 miles away, with too many attractions to name - a few of our favorites are the Dali Museum, Chihuly Musuem, Tropicana Field, Museum of Fine Arts and Mahaffey Theater. There are outstanding dining options in St. Pete including Bella Brava, 400 Beach, Parkshore Grille and the Birchwood.

There is an abundance of family activities including the Great Explorations Childrens Museum (8 mi.), Sunken Gardens, miniature golf, and of course theme parks in Tampa and Orlando. Busch Gardens is 35 miles and is truly fun for the whole family with botanical gardens, free roaming animal habitats, exciting rides and...Anheuser Busch beer.

There is a Publix grocery store just a few blocks away, as well as restaurants, pharmacies, etc.
