Charming 2+2 pax apartment with 2 bathrooms and private terrace with amazing view of the city center and its domes. The apartment is located in an historical building with elevator in Campo de' Fiori, the very heart of Rome. The area is full of bars, typical restaurant and museums and just few minutes walking from all the most important city spots.
Internet WiFi and air conditioned are provided.
The apartment was better than expected and the view from the terrace is sensational. Lele and Andrea were impeccable hosts, even arranging airport transfers. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 6-night stay and look forward to a repeat visit in a few months.
First - the view in the pictures really are as good as they look. The apartment will sleep 4 - but if you have more than two adults it would be tight as the 2nd & 3rd beds are a pull out and two oversized ottoman-like seats pushed together.
Positives - great view, elevator to flat, market downstairs and butcher next door - plenty of places to eat, quiet inside the apartment
Neutrals - A/C in bedroom and in main room (keeps everything cool enough), kitchen is workable (see more below)
Negatives - VRBO doesn't collect the city tax - so you have to pay in cash at check in, no metro anywhere close - be prepared to walk.
The location is pretty well equi-distant to the major sites, but you will be walking 15-25 minutes unless you want to take the bus. Warning on the buses - they can be very crowded. If you are a family of four, you may not be able to get all on the same one.
Kitchen is functional. However, if your plan is to cook in every night it can be a bit cramped (particularly if you are used to an American style kitchen). One side note - if you like coffee, there is plenty of equipment. But only one wine glass?
Overall, you are getting what you pay for - a clean apartment, with A/C and a fantastic view
We spent a week in this beautiful apartment right in the heart of Rome. The location is perfect. Just outside the door to the building is the Campo de' Fiori, with its bustling daily market where you can find everything you could possibly need to cook a gourmet meal in the apartment's well-stocked kitchen. If you don't feel like cooking, the square is full of good, reasonably priced restaurants. In the late afternoons and evenings, the place comes alive with musicians and street performers. Pick any table, order a cold drink and enjoy the people-watching! From the apartment, you can walk to all of the major sights - St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican museums are a 15 minute walk in one direction; the Colosseum and Forum are 15 minutes the other way. Piazza Navone, the Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain are minutes away. Rome is a very walkable city and the apartment couldn't be better situated.
The apartment itself is exactly as pictured. It is spotless, with a large living area that has pull-out beds, and a folding screen that separates it from the kitchen, for those who need extra sleeping space. The separate bedroom is spacious and the bed is comfortable. The kitchen includes pantry items like spices, sugar, paper towels, dish soap, laundry soap, etc. An unexpected bonus was the inclusion of a portable wifi connection. You just pop it in your pocket and then have access to the internet wherever you are in the city - very helpful for those times when we needed to rely on Google maps to find our way home!
The highlight of the apartment is the beautiful rooftop terrace. It has ample furnishings and even has a built - in barbecue, complete with coals (there is a great butcher shop just outside the door to the building - Il Fiorentino). We enjoyed our morning coffee and an afternoon glass of wine on this beautiful deck every day. It is an amazing place to watch the sun set on the Eternal City.
The owners and managers were extremely helpful and easy to deal with. They arranged an airport transfer for us, and were quick to respond via email whenever we had any questions. They provided great restaurant suggestions for us - in Trastevere, we ate at Da Teo and Trattoria Da Carlone (both excellent), and in the Monti district we had an amazing lunch at Cafe Romana. I would highly recommend a stay in this beautiful apartment - you won't be disappointed!
