Stunning Villa with private pool, sea views Within walking distance of Begur

Bedrooms 5
Space 2,152 sq. ft.
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

South facing villa with five bedrooms, four bathrooms.

Casa de la Luna is an exceptionally stylish villa occupying a beautiful position with panoramic views of both sea and countryside. Located in a quiet residential area, it is within walking distance of the historic village of Begur with its restaurants, cafés and shops. It is a five minute drive from the wonderful beaches at Aiqua Blava, Tamariu and Sa Riera.

The villa is on two levels: The upper level has a large open plan living area with dining and sitting areas well equipped for ten people. There is A/C, Satellite /SKYTV, DVD and CD..WiFi Internet . Sliding French windows lead to a terrace with electric awnings ,sofa and a BBQ for al fresco dining. The upper level has three bedrooms and two bathrooms (one ensuite) all with French windows. One bedroom opens on to the pool area with its sun beds and umbrellas. The lower level has two more bedrooms and shower rooms (one en suite) Out of season THE UPPER LEVEL CAN BE RENTED SEPARATELY for 2-6 people at a reduced rent with sole use of its south facing pool and pretty garden.

Walking Holidays: We are very keen walkers and spend a great deal of our time at Begur walking the coastal paths or travelling inland to the mountains to hike in the beautiful countryside. Walking routes are well waymarked but we can give you any advice or information that you may need to plan a walking holiday. We would be quite happy to suggest walks/routes of varying difficulty in the local area. The coastal path is delightful .It is possible to walk to Tamariu beach from our house. It takes about 45 minutes but the coastal path with its stunning views winds its way from cove to cove for miles.

With a year round playing season and very comfortable weather conditions on any given date the Costa Brava is an excellent choice for a golfing holiday. Remember that May/June/September/October are great months for golfers. The courses are not crowded and the weather is usually lovely but not too hot.. so .. Bring those golf clubs! If you want to bring out a group, we can arrange green fees ,give you the information about all the courses and even arrange transport and in-house catering.Just let us know!

Small coves and sandy bays abound in this area such as Sa Tuna, Fornells and Aiguablava. All within 10-15min drive. There is a huge sandy beach at Playa De Pals-you can walk for miles! Good windsurfing here too. Scuba diving and snorkeling are excellent! Our favourite beaches are Aigua Blava,Tamariu and Callella de Palafrugell. All have excellent restaurants. Our personal favourite is Playa Castell ,a long sandy beach which has a preservation order on it so that it is completely unspoilt. It slopes gently to the water and you are surrounded by greenery .

Sight - Seeing: As we know the whole area of the Costa Brava very well ,we are in a good position to advise you on the numerous site seeing trips that you might want to take. Begur is in an excellent position whether you want to visit a water park with your children , take a trip in a glass bottomed boat to the Medes Islands or explore the local historic medieval towns. This is also Dalí country and an excursion to Port Lligat ,Figueres or Castle Gala Dalí is a memorable experience. Girona is also only a 40 minute drive and is a wonderful city, quite small and easy to negotiate but full of interesting history and some excellent restaurants. There are some fascinating coastal towns such as Llfranc and Callela de Palafrugel which have very attractive beaches, you tell us your interests and we would be happy to give you ideas . We love this area and although we don't want it to become too well known as it is very unspoilt without an English pub in sight , we are happy to share it

Fine Dining: Catalan cuisine and wine is justly famous .There are numerous restaurants to satisfy the most demanding of foodies. Please ask us for some ideas!

About Prue Martin

We are a retired dentist and teacher with two children and three grandchildren. We thoroughlt enjoy our family life but we also love travelling. As often as we can we drive down to our villa through France as there are so many wonderful places to visit. Catalonia is also a wonderful country with a fantastic cuisine and fascinating history as well as beautiful beaches and stunning mountainms.Come and experience it for yourself!

Prue Martin purchased this villa in 2006

Why Prue Martin chose Begur

When I retired from teaching,I decided that I needed a project to keep me busy. We decided to build our own house in Spain and we chose a site with fantastic views over the mountains to the sea. Watching the house gradually become a haven of peace and tranquility took two years but we finally got exactly what we wanted: A south facing house with plenty of sun but shade in the garden.Wonderful sunsets and sunrises across the mountains . A cosy space in the winter and an area with a tremendous history and culture.

Bien amicalement!

Fantastic house in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We were traveling in a group of 9 people, including 4 little kids, and this house was perfect for us. Enough bedrooms, enough bathrooms, well-equipped kitchen, gates to secure the stairs and the pool. And of course the pool was a big hit with the kids.

The house is on a quiet residential street but not so far from the town center or the beaches by car -- very convenient. A car is definitely advisable, and the driveway is a bit adventuresome. But it is grand how the house sits on top of the hill.

My favorite feature by far is the terrace with a table large enough to seat all of us and a view over the valleys and a sliver of Mediterranean Sea.

A perfect choice with spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

I spent a considerable amount of time searching for the perfect Villa and this is exactly what I found. From the initial contact and Prue's almost instant response, her endless patience with my many questions to the final hug and goodbye from the wonderful villa managers Bob, Kerry and James. The Villa is in a quiet residential location but just a short walk to the well stocked supermarket, the beautiful town of Begur is only a couple of kms away and I found a short cut so only a 15 minute walk.

On arrival I was met by Bob & James and welcomed to the villa, they gave me a tour and I was very pleased with the cleanliness and homely feel to the place. The kitchen area is very well stocked with all you will need and Kerry had left me a much appreciated welcome pack. The pool looked very inviting but as it was December I wasn't brave enough to try it. The garden is terraced and very pretty. My favourite part of Casa de la Luna was the front terrace, it has a large dinning table and very comfy sofa. I spent many hours sat on the sunny terrace but my very favourite part of the day was watching the sunset over the distant mountains, I could never bore of that sight. Almost as impressive was watching the sunrise, I set my alarm several times just to watch it.

The internet was fast, the satellite TV had an endless choice of channels and films, the sofa's were comfy and the wood burning stove was cosy on the one occasion I lit it. The villa is very secure and although for the majority of the time I was at the villa alone I felt completely safe.

I had a couple of incidents whilst staying at the villa including my car breaking down, Bob & James could not do enough for me, including finding me a mechanic for my car and letting me back in when I closed the door with the key inside !! They truly are a credit to their profession.

I would, without hesitation very highly recommend Casa de la luna to anyone, whether you rent the whole villa or just the upstairs I am sure you will have a holiday to remember. Thank you so much Prue, Kerry, Bob & James, it's a holiday I will never forget x

Owner's Response: We am delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Casa de la Luna and that our management team looked after you so well. They agreed that you were a perfect guest! We are also in agreement about the aspects of our villa that you loved:The views across the mountains to the sea are terrific and watching the sun go down over the mountains is a magical experience. In the summer,it is great to have a B.B.Q on the terrace where there is dining for 10 people. Sitting by the pool in the summer with a glass of Cava or a gin and tonic is also delightful as there are lovely views from there too. Begur, our local town area is also a fascinating place with an interesting history. It is buzzy and lively without being spoilt. I do hope you will return to stay with us again sometime soon. Best wishes, Prue and the Phoenix family.

Five stars? We would give it 10!

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived at Casa de la Luna, we knew the villa would be truly tested. We were a family of 10, including four active teenagers plus an 8-year-old intent on keeping up with her bigger cousins. The house proved its mettle, handling with grace the task of keeping us comfortable and safe. Being able to install the teenagers in their own space in the lower level bedrooms with their own showers circumvented a lot of stress. When we all gathered in the airy bright living areas, no one felt cramped. There was space to include everyone in family games and chatter. All the equipment was modern and worked well. We usually had breakfast in the villa on the front balcony, along with the occasional lunch or dinner. There were too many tempting restaurants to ignore. And besides, we were on holiday! The house was spotless and we really appreciated the amiable team of Robert and Kerry coming in after the first week to change linens and restore the place to its original state (I can’t say it stayed that way but we did try to keep on top of the kids’ constant mess). The pool was well used by swimmers, the deck enjoyed by loungers sipping sangria. Purpose of this trip was to introduce the grandchildren to Europe by spending two weeks in Barcelona and two in Begur. A trove of Catalonia’s historic sites is within easy driving district of Casa de la Luna. Of course we spent time on various beaches and in the pool, but those are readily available to us in Canada. What Canada lacks and Catalonia provided are places like Monserrat, Tossa la Mer, Sant Pere de Rohde – the list seems endless. The most astonishing and interesting site was Empuries; the most picturesque historic town, Pals. Both ‘musts’ are just a short drive from Begur. Prue’s constant attention to our needs from our first inquiry to the end of our trip was reassuringly helpful and professional. Casa de la Luna will remain a favourite memory as our family reminisces about this trip at future family gatherings. We will certainly be recommending it to friends, and hope to return some day ourselves.

Excellent villa in a prime spot

  • 5 of 5

We have just come back from our stay at this stunning villa for one week with my family. The villa was everything we had hoped for and even exceeded our expectations and was large enough for everyone to enjoy without us being on top of each other. We loved having breakfast and dinner every day on the large terrace enjoying the views over the local area, valley and coast in the distance. The pictures don't even quite do it justice! The villa is in a stunning location, very rural and very Spanish yet very close to everything such as lovely beaches, villages, Begur. We enjoyed Visiting Pals, Begur and all the beaches in the area and the stunning coastline and all the sightseeing which the area had to offer. We also enjoyed swinming and sunbathing and relaxing by the pool most days and the pool was in fact larger than we had expected and a perfect size. Thank you Prue for such a lovely time at your amazing villa!! We shall be highly recommending and praising your villa to friends, family and colleagues.
