Beautiful horse ranch, with mountain views, outdoor hot tub, sleeps 10, secluded on 6 entirely fenced in acres. Immaculately clean, with bright airy rooms, cherry wood floors. Breathtaking views of nature from every window. Wood burning and pellet stoves, front & back porches for sun bathing and star gazing. Amenities include central air conditioning, internet access, cable TV, DVD, BBQ, indoor Jacuzzi tub. Private and quiet property yet only a 15 minute drive to Hudson and 25 mins from skiing (Hunter and Windham Mountains). The property is completely fenced-in, with a front gate, allowing dog owners/lovers to bring their best friends to run around off-leash on 3 to 6 acres, depending on whether there are horses on the other side of the property. The mudroom has a doggy door allowing your four-legged friends to come and go as they please. Fresh, clean and beautiful. Come stay at Hickory Ranch, you can even bring your equine buddy!
This property was fantastic. It was exactly as described and was true to the pictures. The property was well-kept and the house was very clean. The fenced-in yard was great for the dogs, the wood stoves were cozy, and the kitchen/dining area were great for our group. It was easy to get to grocery stores, liquor stores, and hiking trails. Fabien and Samantha were responsive and very easy to rent from. They were great at anticipating our needs, communicated clearly, and were flexible with us wherever possible. We will definitely rent this property again. If you are looking for a well-kept and more adult/mature rental property for a group, this is a fantastic choice.
My only friendly suggestion is that labels on light switches (especially for outside lights) would be helpful.
Very clean beautiful place I felt that I was home ,my family enjoy to be out and see the horses , making fires with the woods I will love to come back soon . I'll thank Fabien
We really enjoyed the house and property. Fabien and Samantha were very responsive to any questions we had both before and during our stay. Great big yard. Nice for our dog. Many different places to sit outside with chairs and tables. We really appreciated that. Great balcony off upstairs bedrooms. There is a basketball hoop that doesn't quite get to 10 feet but my teens still spent hours playing. Also a wiffle ball and bat was provided and we took advantage to have a family wiffle ball game on the large property. Pool is not heated and would have preferred if it was but it was still refreshing in the summer and was not freezing. Hot tub worked well. A few minor negatives: First the oven was not fully functional as some of the burners could not be turned on. Once we figured that out we made do with the other burners and it was not a big issue. Also, the house has central air downstairs that works really well but upstairs it is not central. There are seperate room air conditioners (very quiet, not the noisy kind) in two of the bedrooms upstairs and they work well but the third bedroom and bathrooms are not air conditioned. Finally, some of the plastic chairs by the pool are cracked and should probably be replaced. Would definitely recommend and stay again. One of the better properties we have found on homeaway and we have rented many times.
I was planning weekend away to celebrate my husband's birthday. The plan was for some of our closest friends to gather to relax and cook great food. This house was exactly the spot needed to accomplish this task. Not only was the house beautiful location wise, but it was comfortable, and provided us with everything we needed. As soon as we opened the front door, I knew it was clean and organized (smelled exceptionally fresh). Instructions were provided and were very clear, and even included a bottle of vino! The kitchen was well stocked with cookware needed, and was set up where many people could cook at once (great island and plenty of counter space). The deck allowed everyone to sit and talk while we used the grill (full awning was available was great to block out noon sun)- there was even a basketball hoop and ball that we used. Pool and hot tub were clean and was used by everyone. Fire pit was there and plenty of fire wood available. We were even able to bring our two small dogs with us - which was wonderful as they got a vacation, too (they loved watching the horses). We did need to contact Fabian as the hot water was not working at first, but he was very responsive and we had it running quickly in no time. I think we used every part of the house at some point, and what was great is that people could relax by themselves somewhere, or congregate to talk (screened in porch and sun room were great at sun set). Everyone was talking about how we should come to this property every year- maybe in the winter months to see the contrast (but this summer stay in the Catskills was just what the doctor ordered)!!
My family and I had a great stay at Fabien and Samantha's beautiful house in the Catskills. Clean, modern, spacious, attractive. Linens and towels were provided, the kitchen was well-stocked with anything we found ourselves needing, plenty of soap and cleaning supplies at hand, a basket of toiletries in one bathroom, some local restaurant take-out and delivery menus provided, and even a bottle of wine to greet us on arrival. Best of all were the clear and thorough instructions Fabien and Samantha left, letting us know where to find things, how to use things, and how to leave things when we departed. They were also great with communication and answering questions prior to our arrival, and made themselves available during our stay - although everything was so well taken care of that we had no need to contact them.
We had a large group (5 adults, 4 children, 3 dogs) but there was plenty of room for everyone. The house has a great layout that allows everyone to be together for meals or hanging out, yet enough space that you can split off into different groups for some quiet and privacy. The dog door in the mudroom and the ability to create a fenced-in play area for the dogs just by closing the driveway gate was a huge bonus. The house is a comfortable distance from the neighbors, with some scenic horse pastures as buffers - very peaceful. Feels a little rural but it's only a short drive to town for groceries or other needs. Great proximity to hiking, too.
The only minor complaint I could make is that it would have been nice if there were a path and some outdoor lighting for the hot tub, for night time use. (It's possible there was outdoor lighting on that side of the house and we simply missed it.) Regardless of that tiny factor - everything else was completely wonderful and I'd highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable stay in a lovely, peaceful setting.
