Did not disappoint. Highly Recommend. Would stay again.

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I wanted some quiet time for the holidays and this space delivered. We shopped in Lakewood before getting to Idaho Springs and never left the cabin. It snowed during our stay which was simply beautiful. The cabin is up the mountain about 20 mins from Idaho springs with a winding road and a couple of sharp curves. I would keep this in mind if traveling up in winter if you don't drive in snow/ice regularly. The owners recommend 4 wheel drive for winter and I think that is a solid recommendation.

Due to weather there were a couple of quick power outages during our stay but the cable TV and Internet access performed up to par except for a brief outage (<1hr) on one day. When this happens at our home in Texas even the quickest blink of power will create a disruption so this was a pleasant surprise. My Verizon cell service worked fine. My husband has ATT and was unable to use his phone most of the stay (to my delight).

The wood burning stove kept the cabin very warm. The only area we couldn't get warm, even with the central heat, was the walk in shower off the bedroom. It is probably fine once you get the hot water going but we never tried. There was only the two of us so we used the one shower which was just fine. There are plenty of towels and linens. I was able to cook any meal with the pots/pans and dishes available.

As stated the cabin has one bedroom and a loft as well as a pullout sofa. the main bedroom is quite comfortable. The two beds in the loft are comfy but anyone taller than 5'2" may find the space a bit claustrophobic. It is a great space for kids. I'm not sure there is a sofa bed in existence that is actually comfortable but most people don't have high expectations so a nonissue.

There is a review that notes a bit of delay in communication with owner. I experienced that too but didn't worry thanks to that review.

This space was lovely for our holiday retreat but I imagine it is equally great any time of year.

Owner's Response: Dear Treva, Thank you so much for taking the time to review our property. I’m glad you enjoyed your time in the mountains!! Yes you are right that four-wheel-drive is a must in the winter time in our opinion! There are two hairpin turns that can get slick if it’s icy or snowing. Our non-conforming loft is the perfect spot to read, curl up for a nap and yes kiddos absolutely love the loft! I pride myself that I’m quick to respond with any communication regarding inquiries, bookings and follow-up information. I apologize if there was any delay with our communication. Please know you’re welcome back anytime! Sincerely, Lisa Watson

Beautiful, just beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

After a little bit of difficulty getting to the property, we had a wonderful time. They are serious when they suggest using a four-wheel drive as we were in a front wheel van and weren't able to access the property in that vehicle the first day because of the snow. The house and view is beautiful. Owners have thought of many amenities that you normally don't get with a vacation rental to include use of the pantry, darts and other games at the cabin. I enjoyed the walks with my dog the most and am most grateful for the allowance of pets in the cabin. Everything was perfect!

Perfect cabin experience

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved staying at this cabin! Beautiful, serene setting and the cabin was the most well equipped we have ever experienced. We enjoyed the family games, cards, puzzles, PS3, TV's, mini pool, archery, horseshoes, fishing, Cornhole, darts, charcoal grill, hummingbird feeders, whole house audio, wifi, hammock and more. The owners didn't miss a thing! The kitchen is well stocked and we appreciated the nice bedding, towels, toiletries, paper products and cleaning supplies. They thought of everything! The cabin is pretty, modern, and well maintained. Our family biked, hiked, toured St Mary's glacier and a local gold mine. We had a wonderful time at this property and would highly recommend it. The owner was friendly and great to deal with. We'd love to being our family back here again!

Perfect summer getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying here in July 2017. Cabin itself is nicely designed with all necessary upgrades. Kitchen was well stocked, so we didn't have any hard time cooking meals here. It's a few miles away from the Glacier trail and it's tucked in the woods. There are other cabins near by but it doesn't feel like it for sure.

The loft was a hit by kids and beds are very comfortable. I ended up sleeping in the loft with my kids every night.

Great Get A Way

Great mountain cabin at over 10,000 ft., great hiking, fishing and over all relaxation. Also great location for area attractions such as white water rafting, train rides, mine tours and some great local restaurants in Idaho Springs and Georgetown. Thank you Lisa and Brent for letting my son and I stay at your cabin.

Luxe Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

What a weekend! We are already looking forward to another visit. For 4 days we never left the house other than to hike, the ability to walk to amazing lake hikes was very special. The kitchen was wonderfully appointed; we cooked, relaxed on the deck with the hummingbirds and escaped from the realities of the real world. Thank you for sharing your lovely cabin with us!

About Brent & Lisa Watson

My husband and I absolutely love the mountains year round! We discovered this little gem 5 years ago during one of our frequent trips to Idaho Springs and further west. We absolutely fell in love with the mountain location. It is up top almost to tree line at approximately 10,200 feet. You can see the Continental Divide from the driveway. We enjoy the wildlife, wild flowers, easy access to hiking trails and access to ski resort during the winter months.

Brent & Lisa Watson purchased this cabin in 2012
