Your Home Away from Home

Venice East a Sandhill Crane area. Come enjoy the warm balmy breezes of Florida's Gulf Coast and stay in our 3 bedroom, 2 bath Florida bungalow located in an established, tranquil neighborhood with large oaks and creeks perfect for bike rides and sunrise or sunset strolls.

From the moment you walk in, this recently renovated home, with fresh paint and updated bathrooms, and heated pool, offers three spacious bedrooms, two with queen size beds and one with two XL Twin beds.

The master bedroom located on one side of the split plan home, has an on suite bathroom and walk-in closet.

The second and third bedrooms are on the opposite side of the split plan home along a hallway with a separate bathroom that has a tub.

The bright airy bedroom that faces the rear of the home has a queen size bed and sliding glass doors that provide a view and direct access to the heated pool and lanai area. The third bedroom decorated with a nautical theme faces the front of the house has two XL twin beds. Down the hall from these two rooms is a guest bathroom with a tub.

The tv nook, which faces the front of the house, features a Philips flat screened tv which is hooked to cable with a variety of channels including radio selections, and a DVD player. There is also secured wireless internet throughout the house. A quaint place to sit and enjoy the early evening with a view to the front and back of the property. There is an oversized chair , as well as a sleeper couch that pulls out to a queen size bed, perfect for extra guests.

The "bistro" kitchen and dining area are large enough to enjoy a home cooked meal or take out if you prefer. The table comfortably seats 6. Both the kitchen and dining area face the rear of the home and open onto the screened in lanai and pool area.

The "Living room/Florida room", has a fully functional wood burning fireplace as well as sliding glass doors that lead out to the lanai and pool area. On cool nights, open the sliding glass doors and enjoy the breeze while sitting by the fire.

The screened and covered lanai is also a great space to enjoy your morning coffee. Or if you prefer, you can enjoy a cookout next to the pool located on the lanai.

A washer and dryer are located in laundry room the attached two car garage. The garage has plenty of room for bikes and beach chairs. Beach chairs are provided along with beach towels and even a "scooper" perfect for collecting shark teeth on Manasota or Venice Beach.

If your interest is the beach, you are in luck. With over seven beaches several under ten minutes away, you can be basking in the sun via a short drive. If your interest is golf, Venice East is where you want to be. Less than two minutes from the property is the Venice East Golf Course with affordable rates. If you are a shopper, like me, then you will be in heaven. With major department stores, as well as local shops, consignment stores and two outlet malls nearby, you will not believe the deals you will find! Whatever your interest, we want you to relax and feel at home, in your rental home away from home!

About Tim & Josie van Hemert

Josie and I are native Floridians having both grownup in Miami, where we still maintain our residence. We are fans of the beach and are always looking for opportunities to enjoy all of the benefits that our State has to offer. We have always enjoyed the Gulf Coast and our purchase of the "Date Palm House' is the fulfillment of our dream of having a place to enjoy now and for many years to come.

Why Tim & Josie van Hemert chose Venice Groves

We have been coming to the West Coast of Florida for many years going back as far as the 1960;s when my parent s used to take me to Sarasota for vacation. Later Josie and I would regularly take trips to the "left coast" as we enjoy the beautiful beaches, the outdoor activities and just the easy pace of life here. That is why we pursued a place in Venice. As for the Date Palm House it offers everything you could want to enjoy the Southwest Florida - large open rooms with lots of natural light. The back yard is fully enclosed with a privacy fence, and the pool, though not heated, is within the fully screened Lanai. Located in the Living Room the fireplace is wood burning.

We love Venice East. It is a friendly neighborhood with quiet streets where people are out walking their dogs or riding their bikes, with very little traffic moving through the neighborhood. The house itself was built in 1980 and has a great layout. Although 1,654 sq. ft. it feels even bigger, with spacious bed rooms and living areas. The furnishings give a tropical Tommy Bahama type vibe, which complements the easy pace of life in Venice. Last but not least, is the tropical native landscape including the large Date Palm, from which the house gets its name.

What makes this house unique

There are so many reasons that we selected this house to be a "Home Away from Home" for us and our guests. The Date Palm House is loaded with charm. The tropical decor, the bistro kitchen, the cozy Florida Room/TV nook, and the screened Lanai with large pool, are all outfitted for the enjoyment of the Florida Gulf Coast Lifestyle. The location is one of Venice's best. There is a reason that the site for Venice East was chosen back in 1961 when the first homes were built. It is easy to get to, whether you come in on I-75 or US. 41. Moreover it is easy to get to anywhere you want to go in the Venice area in minutes.

Neighborhood - Located in the established neighborhood of Venice East, you can stroll or bike the quiet streets and enjoy the mature landscape where ancient live oak trees adorned with Spanish Moss and ferns canopy the yards and streets.

Golf - If golfing is your pleasure, the Venice East Golf course is less than a mile from the house. The Club offers play by the day or seasonal memberships at reasonable prices.

Beaches- When it comes to beaches, the location boasts easy access to not one but two beaches, both within 15 minutes drive. The first is, the well known Venice Beach, where visitors have been coming for decade to enjoy sun bleached sand and play in the inviting surf.

The second beach, is Manasota Beach. Known for it quite low key atmosphere, Manasota is a delightful beach where long walks on the shore line are the order of the day. Shelling can be quite good here and often results in shark tooth finds that make a great reminder of any beach adventure.

Restaurants - Although your "home away form Home" is well outfitted for cooking at home, should you prefer to venture out for dining, your choices in the Venice East area many. there is an abundance of locally owned as well as national chain restaurants, within a ten minute drive. Variety abounds from local fare to Seafood, Italian, and French. There is also the drive in variety if your schedule does not allow an eat in restaurant.

Shopping - If there is anything that might out number the restaurant offerings, it might be shopping. For the essentials there is a Public Supermarket within 3 - 5 min. Not to mention gas stations, pharmacies, and convenience store , all about the same distance.

Department Stores, Clothing Stores, and speciality shops are all within 3 to 10 minutes providing convenient access to all types of stores. The area is also well suited for the bargain shopper with its many antique, thrift and consignment shops. Within 15 minutes drive, you will find the quaint streets of Old Venice, which boasts unique shopping streets with boutique restaurants and shops.

Bicycling, Boating, Kayaking, Tennis and paddle boarding,are just some of the other activities that hare here in Venice to experience.

Wonderful Winter Vacation

The split floor plan worked perfect for us as two couples sharing a home for the winter. The covered screened in back porch was great. The pool was very nice. Quiet neighborhood. Able to walk everyday up and down scenic Venice Blvd. Choice of beaches within 20 minutes away. Loved the house. Owners were wonderful to work with. Would rent again in a heartbeat. Thank you Josie and Tim for sharing your home.

"Two Oaks" - Venice, Florida - A wonderful "Home Away from Home"!

We have been renting in Florida for a number of years to get away from the winter weather in Central New York. We usually rent for the months of February and March. Our experience this year was by far one of the best. "Two Oaks" was a great home away from home. Upon entering on February !, we were extremely pleased with all it had to offer. It was very clean and provided all the necessary essentials for an extended stay, ie; cookware, coffee maker, dishes, utensils, etc. The appliances were in exceptional shape and again, very clean. Linens were new and plentiful. Washer & Dryer were a plus. Location of "Two Oaks" is another positive factor. We are "beach people" and we only had short drives to a number of desirable beaches. Restaurants are plentiful and reasonable.

Above all, owners, Josie & Tim are the most pleasant, helpful and considerate people to work with. Thank you Josie & Tim for providing us with a "home away from home" this year!

We would love to return. We would highly recommend "Two Oaks" to anyone looking for a great "home away from home".

Clean, carefully decorated.

We were somewhat reluctant first-time renters who had heard many horror stories about properties not being as advertised but we were completely surprised and pleased that our reluctance was not warranted. We were greeted by new flowers along the walk, the home was very clean and well decorated, there were all new linens and towels and there was even candy in the candy dishes.

The "information" book they left for us was very helpful and answered every question before we asked making us feel at ease about how to use all the appliances, where to go for essentials and how to seek medical attention if needed. Also, before we arrived they told us there were 2 beach chairs for our use. I mentioned that the rental was advertised as accommodating up to 6 people and, if we had any guests we might need more than two. When we arrived we were so happy to find 4 waiting for us. They went out of their way to meet our needs. They even stayed late the day before our arrival (New Year's Eve day) to put a new grill together for us and make sure we had a full propane tank.

While we were there we experienced a terrible thunder storm with high winds and a tornado that touched down 15--20 miles north of us. It was very comforting to have the owner contact us early the next morning to make sure we were ok and to check on the house. They were ready to send their contractor if we needed any repairs.

We would certainly have no reservations about recommending this property to friends or family.

For the Months of January, February and March, the rentals are on a calendar month only. Jan will be 1-31, Feb 1-29 and March 1-31. Check in is after 12:00 noon on your check-in day and the premises must be clean and vacated buy 1:00pm on your day of departure. The security deposit shall be returned to you within ten days of your last rental date, so long as the property is in the same condition as when rented. Sorry no pets for this property.

Rental Agreement to be provided for guest via e-mail or fax. The renter is to review, execute and return the agreement via fax or e-mail attachment, within 3 days of receipt. If signed lease is not received within this period, the booking is automatically voided. Payment of the rent, is due upon confirmation of the booking from owners. If payment is not made with in 24 hours of the booking confirmation, the booking is voided.

Cancellation of bookings must be done 30 days prior to your arrival date.
