My husband and I enjoy travel in Tuscany and the English Countryside and wanted to live in a similar area near our business in New York City. Pine Plains turned out to be perfect.
The Pines offers us and our guests the opportunity to travel back to the age of elegant rural life enjoyed in the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires. It's location provides the best of country living, sporting and vacationing.
I highly recommend renting to Hana, her family and friends. They were timely with their payments and took great care of the house. They are welcome to stay with us any time.
We rented this house for a quick New Year's get away with our friends. It's difficult to describe the astonishing beauty of this historic home. Every detail was lovingly restored and meticulously cared for. It was a privilege to enjoy this gorgeous work of art. The rooms are luxurious and spacious. With a bathroom in every bedroom. The kitchen was beautiful yet functional and fully equipped. We hope to one day return during warm weather and enjoy the wide wrap-around porches and beautiful grounds.
The hosts took care to anticipate our every need and desire. They even decorate the house for the holidays. I would strongly recommend staying at The Pines and examining every beautiful detail. It's like a journey back in time.
We really enjoyed spending a week at The Pines with our family! What a great Thanksgiving 2016 celebration it was. Our family of 20, ranging in ages from 80yrs - 1yr, slept comfortably and were able to relax. Eileen and Jose have wonderfully restored this beautiful house from the state rooms to the bedrooms.
We were so pleased with the almost endless supply of plates, cutlery, glassware to serve our guests. The linens and table settings for the formal dining room was exquisite. My 80 year old mother from England , whose birthday we were celebrating as well, felt completely at home and was thrilled about the exceptional modern amenities (excellent plumbing, heating and mattresses).
Being a chef I must add that the kitchen is one of the best home kitchens I have ever worked in. 3 working ovens, fully equipped kitchen with all gadgets including dishwasher and a cavernous icebox refrigerator.
Melissa, the property manager, was efficient and attentive, even arranging for last minute requests and emergencies with charm. Meghan who helped with housekeeping was very knowledgeable about the house and easy to work with. She setup the formal dinning room table perfectly.
Thank you Eileen and Jose, for sharing your grand but cosy home with us and making this a memorable celebration for my family. We highly recommend The Pines. It is worth every penny.
We could not have asked for a more elegant yet comfortable, accomodating, down-right inspiring place to be together with a group of friends and family. The attention to detail and art of how this home has been cared for and restored is incredible. Every one of our guests loved their time at The Pines, and I so appreciated the kindness, generosity, and professionalism of the owner and wonderful manager Melissa. We will remember our time there for a long time, and hope to have a reunion someday in the future!
I held a corporate off-site with 7 executives at the house and it was perfect. The house had individual rooms (8+) and bathrooms for everyone, and plenty of rooms for breakout sessions (game room, piano room, multiple outside areas, library, kitchen, dining). Not to mention the house is beautiful and well kept. I tend to be a picky guy and this house is excellent.
Other notes: great wifi, good service at arrival/departure/during stay, well equipped house (sheets, towels, kitchen, coffee) and walking distance to grocery, restaurants and hiking.
My partner and I chose The Pines as a place for us and some friends our to stay during the weekend of our wedding. Sipping whiskies in the parlor, communing with old friends over dinners, and lingering over coffees & pastries on the inviting covered porches made our stay an exquisite component of our wedding.
The enormous home provided several spaces for our group of 10 couples to convene - the parlor with a piano, the drawing room with its game table, and the cozy library. Somehow, though, we always ended up in the well-stocked kitchen where we prepared meals for 22 with ease. Being walking distance from a grocery store made it wonderfully simple to dash out and get whatever it was that we had forgotten.
The spacious rooms were well appointed with luxurious bed and bath linens. Each was sufficiently cooled with its own A/C during our unseasonably warm and humid stay. And being an enthusiast of historic architecture I particularly admired the period-appropriate renovation of the bathroom in the room we chose.
The magic of this place to transport you to another time did not stop on the main floor, or even in the bedrooms. This being a wedding weekend we asked about laundry facilities and I couldn't help but feel I was in the labyrinthine servants' quarters of Downton Abbey when I was shown the facilities in the basement. We were offered the use of washers, dryers, ironing stations and even a steamer - invaluable for a weekend involving formal wear.
We were welcomed warmly upon arrival and attended to promptly by Melissa when we had questions or requests.
Upon our regretful departure we asked how soon we could come back, anxious to experience its seductive charm again.
David and I had an amazing weekend stay at The Pines with our family and got married on the grounds. Our guests said it was the most enchanting wedding they've ever been to. The house is gorgeous with amazing charm. Each room is more beautiful than the next. It felt like we lived in a museum for a weekend without the fussiness of guards. WeThe amenities are spectacular. We stayed 10 couples with 2 kids extremely comfortably, we can't wait to stay there again. Melissa the manager was always available to help with anything we needed. Great communicators and gracious hosts. The land is beautiful and the small town is delightful. I highly recommend this house, especially for larger events. This will be an u forgettable stay for you anyone that visits this house.
The Pines is located 2 hours north of New York City in bucolic horse country just east of the Hudson River and west of the Massachusetts Berkshires mountains. The area is known for world class hunting, equestrian events, polo, hiking, antiquing and scenic country drives. Like Tuscany and the English Countryside, it is a center for organic farming and artisanal foods. It is a perfect location for a country vacation, wedding, family reunion, hunting excursion or foodie getaway.
