Why Jorge Yajure chose Pine Plains

My wife and I enjoy travel in Tuscany and the English Countryside and wanted to live in a similar area near our business in New York City. Pine Plains turned out to be perfect.

What makes this house unique

The Pines offers us and our guests the opportunity to travel back to the age of elegant rural life enjoyed in the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires. It's location provides the best of country living, sporting and vacationing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I highly recommend renting to Hana, her family and friends. They were timely with their payments and took great care of the house. They are welcome to stay with us any time.

Amazing house for a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time spending Thanksgiving here. The house is well equipped with everything we needed to cook a large dinner for a large group. The bedrooms are large, comfortable, and each one has it's own bathroom. A ton of charm and warmth - could not have been a better a experience...I would highly recommend.

This elegant home has been lovingly restored by Jorge and Eileen

  • 5 of 5

We had a big family reunion here in September 2017. The setting was perfect - this home was originally owned by our great uncle. We shared old family photos from the late 1800s/early 1900s showing our grandparents spending time in this very spot. Our family has deep roots in Pine Plains and we enjoyed exploring the cemetery and the law office of our relatives. In addition to the attention to detail inside and outside the house, Jorge and Eileen have studied up on the family lore and were able to fill in some blanks about old family members!

Now about the house - just perfect. We had someone in every bedroom. We shared meals in the gorgeous dining room and cocktails in the front rooms. The kitchen (the original refrigerator/ice box is a work of art!) and dining rooms are fully stocked with tableware, linens and glassware. We enjoyed rocking on the porches in the beautiful fall weather.

The furnishings are all period specific. Each bedroom has its own personality. The bathrooms are all superior and there was plenty of hot water to go around (15 people all getting ready at the same time!)

We all had the BEST time! Thanks to Jorge and Eileen and to Melissa, the property manager, for making our stay so enjoyable.

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Each year, seven of my long time friends and myself have a get together in different parts of the country. This year we chose the Pines. Our unanimous opinion was that it was one of the most unique and thoroughly enjoyable experiences we've had to date. The house has an exquisite beauty, inside and out, yet is warm, comfortable and conducive to conversation and relaxation. The surrounding area, also beautiful, has many interesting sites close by or within a one hour drive.

If you want to try something a little different for your getaway, this is a good choice.

Family Anniversary Party

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful place exceeded our expectations, which were high, in every way. Sixteen of us, ages ten to over eighty, gathered for a long weekend to celebrate our 60th anniversary. Family did all the cooking in a glamorous and well-equipped kitchen. Linens, formal dinnerware, and glassware were lovely. Living room and dining room were both big enough for all of us to gather together. Lovely large flat lawn gave us space for games, and rocking chairs on the porches for spectators. Bedrooms and baths were comfortable and well-appointed. Everything was spotless, and Melissa was most helpful in welcoming us and making sure we had all we needed. A huge success!

Perfect spot for a friends' reunion

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time at this house. The property manager was easy to get in touch with and made sure everything was ready to go for our stay, and the house itself is just spectacular. It's an easy walk into town and the grounds are gorgeous; we had a great time exploring, cooking, hanging out on the porch, and playing games in the common spaces. I was especially grateful that the owners were welcoming of children (they even made sure the house had a crib available!). Hope we can come back again -- thanks so much for a lovely vacation!

The Pines is located 2 hours north of New York City in bucolic horse country just east of the Hudson River and west of the Massachusetts Berkshires mountains. The area is known for world class hunting, equestrian events, polo, hiking, antiquing and scenic country drives. Like Tuscany and the English Countryside, it is a center for organic farming and artisanal foods. It is a perfect location for a country vacation, wedding, family reunion, hunting excursion or foodie getaway.
