About Maggie Weldon
I grew up in Detroit and suburbs of Michigan. Twenty-two years ago I moved to North Carolina and I LOVE it here. I have owned a crochet business for over 30 years. After working 60+ hours for 20+ years, I am semi-retired and ready to travel. My business is in a home zoned for commercial use so I stay there when this houses are rented.
Maggie Weldon purchased this House in 2004
Why Maggie Weldon chose Kernersville
This home is a magical secluded get away. Bill and I stay here occasionally and we LOVE it! It is quiet and oh so bright and cheery. Bill used to live in hotel rooms for months at a time and I used to visit him for weeks at a time. Had this house been available in Allentown Pennsylvania or Charlotte NC we would have much preferred staying there vs. a hotel.
What makes this House unique
Quiet - secluded - clean - bright - new mattresses
Minimum age of primary renter:21
Max guests:6 (sleeps up to 6 adults)
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
We found home to be clean and cozy, very disappointed in the TV set up, very confusing . only 1 bath room affected our stay.
Sheila - thank you for a review.
I'm glad you found my home "clean" and "cozy".
The listing clearly states "1 Bathroom"
We have wifi TV's with over 500 things to watch including local channels, Netflix, Amazon Prime movies etc. There is an instruction book on how they work. I am always available to help with any TV issues.
I always check in with guests to see if they need anything. Nothing was said to me about the TV's when I checked in with Sheila.
Maggie's Farmhouse is a charming, comfortable place to stay. It's off the beaten path but only a mile from Kernersville. Everything is provided for your comfort. It was pleasant to return to "our little house" at the end of a long day. As an older woman, I was a bit cautious going down the front steps, but all in all, I recommend this little house.
Location for us was PERFECT. we were comfortable. We left a list for owner of 10 repairs badly.
First time booking, was shocked at additional charges added after booked, increasing cost higher, charged more than ad from 117 to 125$ also, considering summer prices over and fall prices should be less. Cleaning up before we leave is natural for us but requirements were to the point we shouldn't be charged a cleaning fee. I would have been happy to change linens. We washed our towels and put them away. Repair and replace safety issues. I have arachnophobia so the SPIDERS kept my hubby and guests busy. Overall we'd come back.
Cute inside, but noisy in early morning..
The Good: very cutely remodels old farmhouse that was well stocked and has little extras. The beds were comfortable. The location is 5 minutes from the interstate and about 18 minutes from Downtown Winston and downtown Greensboro. The not so good; Previous reviews didn’t highlight that you are beside a railroad with a train that comes through horns blasting at 4:30 am through 8:30 am. If you are a light sleeper this place isn’t for you. In addition, a business beside the rental sounded like they were dropping/clanging dumpsters repeatedly from about 6 am on. You are literally between the railroad tracks and a cemetery. The porch was rotting but was covered with plywood. The front porch swing with exposed nails from it coming apart. We were required to purchase non-refundable travel insurance which added to the total cost of the rental. instead of a refundable deposit. That may not be the case for everyone but I disclosed that we had a child with special needs so that was the case for us.
In summary, great location, interior, but a little pricy for the neighborhood/noise and repairs that need to be made on the porch.
My first concern is to address this statement Kristel made:
"We were required to purchase non-refundable travel insurance which added to the total cost of the rental. instead of a refundable deposit. That may not be the case for everyone but I disclosed that we had a child with special needs so that was the case for us"
Kristel did not disclose this and had she disclosed this it would have not made any difference. Everyone pays for this insurance regardless of who they are or what their life situation is.
The noise from the train and the business next door have never been that big of an issue for most guests. Please read the other reviews.
We are working on the porch repair. I had no clue about the swing needing attention.
Cute and Comfortable Farm House
We loves this place! We all felt right at home once we arrived. Maggie has thought of everything to ensure her guest are comfortable, including cards and puzzles for extra entertainment.
The only item we were missing was a pizza cutter, but we don't see this as a negative, there were plenty of knives choices that did the job.
Great, charming farmhouse
This is our second year staying here and we love it. The house is darling and has everything we need. Maggie is great to work with, too!
