The duplex was built in 1925 and maintains its original art deco feel. The dark woodwork, door hardware, North and South side piano windows, winding staircase and hardwood flooring throughout the home are inviting and warm. The windows on three sides of the living room provide a fun "tree house" view of the lovely homes on our quiet street and make a great spot to relax or work in the afternoon sunshine. The deck off the second bedroom faces the back yard is the perfect place to spend a summer evening.
There are two bedrooms. Bedroom #1 contains one queen sized bed and ceiling fan. Bedroom #2 has two twin beds. Both rooms have dressers and closet space.
The spacious living room includes lots of comfortable seating, flat screen TV, DVD player and Netflix access. There are also a variety of games and books for guests to use.
The full kitchen is clean, updated and provides items needed to cook meals including full sized refrigerator, oven, gas stove, microwave and dishwasher.
The bathroom is a typical size for the era and has a deep tub with a shower.
The dining room boasts a classic plate shelf and two large West facing windows that bring in the afternoon light. The large dining table can easily seat six.
Hello! We are long-time Minneapolis residents and love our fair city. We have two young daughters and after many years of exploring the Twin Cities childless, we are now having fun learning about the great family-friendly spots!
We love hosting and making new friends and look to provide a warm, inviting space for our guests to enjoy.
Clark Woodward purchased this apartment in 2015
"The duplex" (as we call it) has been in Elise's family for years. Prior to purchasing the home and moving into the lower unit, we fell in love with the unique and convenient area while living as renters in the upper unit (the unit we are now posting here). We are thrilled to be part of a community that values the historical homes while it pursues some exciting upcoming sustainable development.
We love the "tree top" feel of this apartment and the view looking down the street at the other unique homes is wonderful
We are the perfect distance from the activity at the University of Minnesota and downtown Minneapolis and our location provides many great options for exploring the city.
This is the most comfortable vrbo property we have stayed in. The house itself is beautiful (built 1925, original woodwork). It took me just a few hours to feel completely at home. The living area is spacious and the little things that make life good (soft towels, comfortable beds, comfortable couch, throws to keep you nice and cozy, well-stocked kitchen, space to unpack in, excellent appliances, games, books, nice artwork on the walls, even a guitar to strum!) made this a nice place to be. We were here for Thanksgiving and cooked part of the meal here - the oven and stove both work perfectly. Whole Foods Coop, not far away, is a great source for groceries. Cupboards are well stocked with salt, pepper, cooking oils, sugar, tea. The neighborhood is quiet and comfortable. I asked for advice on one thing (nearby grocery) after arrival, and Clark was quick to respond. Lovely!
We stayed here for the 2016 Ryder Cup and it was perfect. Close to the light rail and within walking distance to Surly's Brewing. The unit was well-furnished, very clean and had lots of natural lighting. The owners are very responsive to guest needs and clearly take great care of the place. I highly recommend it!
We enjoyed the duplex with our two daughters 6 and 8 years old. The duplex felt comfortable and like home. Original wood work, wood flooring and Windows. It was only in the upper 70s during our stay so we enjoyed having the windows open. The duplex does not have central air just window units in the main rooms. Bookshelf had games and local guide books. We watched movies at night while relaxing on the couch.
The house was stocked with all the comforts of home. Tea kettle, throws for warming up on the couch, all the basic kitchen supplies, and comfy bed. Quiet neighborhood. Parking was on the street, and never had trouble finding a spot. Woodwork in the home was beautiful. Netflix for relaxing at night. Also stocked with books and games. We would definitely stay here again.
Close to downtown Minneapolis, University of Minnesota and TCF Bank Stadium.
Close to breweries (Surly, Urban Growler, Bang Brewing, Lake Monster, Burning Brothers).
