Bright, art deco era upper unit with great living area.

The duplex was built in 1925 and maintains its original art deco feel. The dark woodwork, door hardware, North and South side piano windows, winding staircase and hardwood flooring throughout the home are inviting and warm. The windows on three sides of the living room provide a fun "tree house" view of the lovely homes on our quiet street and make a great spot to relax or work in the afternoon sunshine. The deck off the second bedroom faces the back yard is the perfect place to spend a summer evening.

There are two bedrooms. Bedroom #1 contains one queen sized bed and ceiling fan. Bedroom #2 has two twin beds. Both rooms have dressers and closet space.

The spacious living room includes lots of comfortable seating, flat screen TV, DVD player and Netflix access. There are also a variety of games and books for guests to use.

The full kitchen is clean, updated and provides items needed to cook meals including full sized refrigerator, oven, gas stove, microwave and dishwasher.

The bathroom is a typical size for the era and has a deep tub with a shower.

The dining room boasts a classic plate shelf and two large West facing windows that bring in the afternoon light. The large dining table can easily seat six.

"The duplex" (as we call it) has been in Elise's family for years. Prior to purchasing the home and moving into the lower unit, we fell in love with the unique and convenient area while living as renters in the upper unit (the unit we are now posting here). We are thrilled to be part of a community that values the historical homes while it pursues some exciting upcoming sustainable development.

What makes this apartment unique

We love the "tree top" feel of this apartment and the view looking down the street at the other unique homes is wonderful

We are the perfect distance from the activity at the University of Minnesota and downtown Minneapolis and our location provides many great options for exploring the city.

Perfect location in quiet neighborhood

We stayed here for the 2016 Ryder Cup and it was perfect. Close to the light rail and within walking distance to Surly's Brewing. The unit was well-furnished, very clean and had lots of natural lighting. The owners are very responsive to guest needs and clearly take great care of the place. I highly recommend it!

Great stay with family.

We enjoyed the duplex with our two daughters 6 and 8 years old. The duplex felt comfortable and like home. Original wood work, wood flooring and Windows. It was only in the upper 70s during our stay so we enjoyed having the windows open. The duplex does not have central air just window units in the main rooms. Bookshelf had games and local guide books. We watched movies at night while relaxing on the couch.

Great location for college visit with my daughter to the UM campus.

The house was stocked with all the comforts of home. Tea kettle, throws for warming up on the couch, all the basic kitchen supplies, and comfy bed. Quiet neighborhood. Parking was on the street, and never had trouble finding a spot. Woodwork in the home was beautiful. Netflix for relaxing at night. Also stocked with books and games. We would definitely stay here again.
