Located in the Old Port Royal Village, Heron House is truly a home not just a run-of-the-mill vacation rental. Much thought was put into making the home a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the Lowcountry. This home had just been remodeled and features 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and a 400 sq. foot bonus room. It can accommodate up to 10 persons. Master Bedroom is on the main floor and has a queen size Tempurpedic mattress and a spa like bathroom with a antique iron claw foot tub. The 2nd bedroom has a full size bed. Living room contains a full size hide-a-bed. There is a full bath in the downstairs hall accessible from the living areas and the 2nd bedroom. Upstairs you will find the 3rd bedroom with twin beds and an en suite bath and a futon sofa in the bonus room.
The kitchen and dining room are large and are open into the living room. There is also a washer and dryer in the hall. Dining table seats six but you can always squeeze a few extra chairs if need be.
Sit outside, sip your coffee and enjoy the view from the beautiful wrap around porch furnished with chairs and a bistro set. You may even get to see the White Heron that likes to hang out in the yard. Out back you will find a brick patio with seating, a charcoal BBQ, and a fire pit for all to enjoy.
Port Royal is located 5 miles outside of Historic Downtown Beaufort. The main gate to Parris Island is 3.5 miles from the house. It takes all of 5 minutes to reach the gate, (unless you happen to get stuck behind a school bus). MCAS is close by and is a breeze to get to. Port Royal is conveniently located just 45 minutes from Savannah and just over an hour from Charleston.
There is never a lack of amazing things to keep you busy in the Lowcountry. Rent a kayak, visit the Cypress Wetlands and Rookery, jump into the car and go to Hunting Island or the historic Penn Center. Stroll down to Port Royals Sands Beach and watch the dolphins, or if you have a boat utilize one of the many free boat launches in the area. The Lowcountry is known for its fresh seafood and there are numerous dining experiences to be had in the local area.
Just a little history - Port Royal (1562) predates Jamestown by 45 years and has the only public shrimp dock in South Carolina. The name of our avenues, Paris, London, Richmond, Madrid, Columbia and Edinburgh , are from the Capitol of the countries whose flags have flown over Port Royal.
Born and raised in southern California, I have lived and worked my whole life there. I am a nurse and spent 27 years in the Army National Guard. I have one teenaged son.
Noel Salinda purchased this house in 2015
During my time with the military I traveled often to the southern part of the country and fell in love with the people and the way of life. When my sister decided to move to Port Royal, I went along with her to look for her home and fell in love with Port Royal and Heron House, with the beautiful wrap around porch and marsh view.
We arrived at the Heron House on Wednesday afternoon for our daughter's Marine Corps graduation . The house is beautiful. It had everything we needed for our family. The location was perfect and we were able to the relax without worrying about anything. There was a grocery store close by, a Walmart about 12 minutes away. There is an amazing pizza place with walking distance of the house which we found menus to at the house. My son loved the upstairs loft and we loved thatt there were games for us to play at the house. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious, comfortable, clean and inviting. We loved the bed in the master bedroom. The owner answered all questions I had within an hour prior to arrival. She is very friendly and we loved her hospitality. Thanks so much for the great home! Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay again. Thank you Noella! Our nicest VRBO stay yet! The house comfortably slept our family and it was wonderful being so close to Parris Island. We had a fabulous week and brought our new Marine back to the house after graduation. Friendly neighbors and we were even told of a great beach down the street that the kids found sharks teeth! Overall a 5 star.
We had a great stay at this property. House was clean roomy. Plan your showers accordingly as hot water will run out on the 4th person. Also, the washer did work but may be on its last leg. We would definitely stay here again!
We came down for my sons graduation. We had my husband, 2 daughters, graND parents and myself. We were very comfortable. Thank you for sharing your place with us
Heron House was snuggled in a very quaint neighborhood around a 5 minute drive from Parris Island. We stayed there to watch our Son/Grandson graduate boot camp so we were stressed as it was. The property took that stress away! Noel manages it and she was so easy to work with and very responsive to all my messages even after we left. Sands Beach is an inlet you can walk to at the end of the street. Daily we watched dolphins play and went up on the tower to listen to the Marines and Recruits practice across the water. I would highly recommend this property! Thanks Noel for everything!
We stayed here for our grandsons graduation from Parris Island. This home worked out great. Very comfy! Plenty of room for all who stayed. Nice front porch. Very quiet neighborhood. Decorated very nicely. We could not have asked for a better place to gather for this important event . Thank You.
