About the property

3 Bedroom, 3 Bath Home, Sleep 10 - WiFi and Free Netflix

Located in the Old Port Royal Village, Heron House is truly a home not just a run-of-the-mill vacation rental. Much thought was put into making the home a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the Lowcountry. This home had just been remodeled and features 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and a 400 sq. foot bonus room. It can accommodate up to 10 persons. Master Bedroom is on the main floor and has a queen size Tempurpedic mattress and a spa like bathroom with a antique iron claw foot tub. The 2nd bedroom has a full size bed. Living room contains a full size hide-a-bed. There is a full bath in the downstairs hall accessible from the living areas and the 2nd bedroom. Upstairs you will find the 3rd bedroom with twin beds and an en suite bath and a futon sofa in the bonus room.

The kitchen and dining room are large and are open into the living room. There is also a washer and dryer in the hall. Dining table seats six but you can always squeeze a few extra chairs if need be.

Sit outside, sip your coffee and enjoy the view from the beautiful wrap around porch furnished with chairs and a bistro set. You may even get to see the White Heron that likes to hang out in the yard. Out back you will find a brick patio with seating, a charcoal BBQ, and a fire pit for all to enjoy.

Port Royal is located 5 miles outside of Historic Downtown Beaufort. The main gate to Parris Island is 3.5 miles from the house. It takes all of 5 minutes to reach the gate, (unless you happen to get stuck behind a school bus). MCAS is close by and is a breeze to get to. Port Royal is conveniently located just 45 minutes from Savannah and just over an hour from Charleston.

There is never a lack of amazing things to keep you busy in the Lowcountry. Rent a kayak, visit the Cypress Wetlands and Rookery, jump into the car and go to Hunting Island or the historic Penn Center. Stroll down to Port Royals Sands Beach and watch the dolphins, or if you have a boat utilize one of the many free boat launches in the area. The Lowcountry is known for its fresh seafood and there are numerous dining experiences to be had in the local area.

Just a little history - Port Royal (1562) predates Jamestown by 45 years and has the only public shrimp dock in South Carolina. The name of our avenues, Paris, London, Richmond, Madrid, Columbia and Edinburgh , are from the Capitol of the countries whose flags have flown over Port Royal.

About Noel Salinda

Born and raised in southern California, I have lived and worked my whole life there. I am a nurse and spent 27 years in the Army National Guard. I have one teenaged son.

Noel Salinda purchased this house in 2015

Why Noel Salinda chose South Carolina

During my time with the military I traveled often to the southern part of the country and fell in love with the people and the way of life. When my sister decided to move to Port Royal, I went along with her to look for her home and fell in love with Port Royal and Heron House, with the beautiful wrap around porch and marsh view.

Heron House was snuggled in a very quaint neighborhood around a 5 minute drive from Parris Island. We stayed there to watch our Son/Grandson graduate boot camp so we were stressed as it was. The property took that stress away! Noel manages it and she was so easy to work with and very responsive to all my messages even after we left. Sands Beach is an inlet you can walk to at the end of the street. Daily we watched dolphins play and went up on the tower to listen to the Marines and Recruits practice across the water. I would highly recommend this property! Thanks Noel for everything!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the kind words. We try our best to make an already stressful time for families a little less so. I love watching the dolphins and consider them part of the welcome to the Lowcountry. Please tell your son I said thank you for his service. Happy Holidays!

We stayed here for our grandsons graduation from Parris Island. This home worked out great. Very comfy! Plenty of room for all who stayed. Nice front porch. Very quiet neighborhood. Decorated very nicely. We could not have asked for a better place to gather for this important event . Thank You.

I gave the house two stars because unfortunately the house was nice and equipped with everything you would need to stay, we didn't get to use it but for only 4 hours for my sons graduation from bootcamp of the Marine corp,,hurricane matthew was coming and so we had a mandatory evacuation..my disappointment was that when I rented the place there was no were to take out rental ins that my sister in law and i saw at check out and it was a lot of money and out of our control with the weather they would not refund my money back. was not that we didn't just not show up it was the weather.so that was disappointing. I am new to this renting thing and save for the graduation and it would have been greatly appreciated if we were refunded I know it a business but something are out of our control..so with that all said if you rent from them please look everywhere on the web for rental ins before you check out we look and didn't see that was our disappointment..

Owner's Response: I must say that this is an unfair review. The original reservation was booked in July. I always suggest that my guests purchase trip insurance since they are usually coming down for boot camp graduation and any number of issues could arise prior to graduation. The cancellation policy is clearly stated on the listing. This guest next contacted me the last week of September when what turned into Hurricane Matthew, first became a tropical storm. At that time I explained that our weather report showed only a 50% chance of rain. I asked her if she had purchased the trip insurance offered at the time of booking. She stated she had not purchased the insurance. I restated the cancellation policy, suggested she keep checking the PI. Graduation website and told her it was her decision as to whether she was making the trip or not. Since she resides in the Virginia Beach area I assumed she would be used to dealing with this type of situation. On Tuesday the 7th the decision was made by MCRD PI to move graduation to Wednesday. I had no control over the mandatory evacuation order and had to also leave town and find a place to stay for 7 days. This was simply stated, "an act of god".

Even better than we expected

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 had an awesome week in Heron House. It is even prettier than described. The house is huge, and the sleep number bed in the master bedroom was a comfortable surprise. Noel had snacks for us on the counter when we arrived, and we were lacking nothing, from the kitchen (lots of condiments and supplies) to the bedrooms (sheets, pillows and blankets for every bed.) to the bathroom (plenty of hot water and bath towels). The neighbor (Paul) and his sweet old (and very smart) dog Brutus were a joy. Even as hot as it was, we loved walking the neighborhood. 4 Island Pizza and Moondoggies were fabulous, and just steps away.

Thank you for allowing us to stay in your marvelous home.

A wonderful place to stay!

We stayed at Heron House while in town for our son's graduation from MCRD. The home is just beautiful and met our needs very well. There were 10 of us all together. We enjoyed relaxing on the front porch and walked to the marshes and enjoyed views of the sunset. The house is beautifully decorated and was sparkling clean and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. If we are ever in the area again, we will certainly try to book Heron House for our stay. A great experience overall.
