Beautiful A frame cabin for year round fun! 35 minutes from skiing in White Pass, 45 minutes from Mount Rainier and Mount Saint Helen National Parks, and 3 minutes walk from amazing fishing on the Cowlitz river; this cabin has it all. With 2 bedrooms with queen beds and pull out coutch on the main floor, a queen bed and a bunk bed in the spacious loft, the cabin can sleep up to 10 people. The beautiful deck off of the kitchen comes with a gas BBQ and outdoor seating. The four person hot tub is just below the deck. The mudroom on the bottom floor has plenty of space to store your ski or hiking gear. The rec room on the bottom floor comes with a pool table. The cabin sits right beside the access to the river front, for excellent fishing and resting by the Cowlitz river.
The house comes equipped with wireless internet that is good for basic internet browsing and email, but not fast enough for video streaming.
The living room comes equipped with a 32" flat screen TV with surround sound, a dvd player (with a fully stocked film collection).
The kitchen comes fully stocked with pots, pans, and kitchen utensils.
Summer renters can access the community's swimming pool and 9 holes golf course for a small fee ($2pp swimming pool and $10pp golf).
In mid-December we rented this cabin so three families could have an early Christmas celebration. It was the PERFECT place for us to gather! The cabin had large and very comfortable beds so were all able to spread out and slept well. The kitchen was well furnished with all the supplies we needed, and even included kid utensils! The cabin had both a furnace and a wood burning stove so we were plenty warm! We enjoyed having a large basement for storing our ski gear and ski equipment. The pool table was lots of fun too! We didn't use the hot tub this trip. We were just happy to have a toasty warm cabin to sit in after skiing! The cabin was within easy access of White Pass's ski resort and we enjoyed some awesome skiing there too! Thanks for the addition of putting up a lighted Christmas tree for us! It was the perfect touch to make it feel like Christmas! We will definitely look to rent this cabin again! I would love to see it in the summer and access Mount Rainer from it too!
I book this cabin for my daughter's 16th birthday and invited a couple of her friends. First of all, we had every amenity we needed, which came in handy when a snowstorm came through and the cabin lost power the first night. there were extra blankets, flashlights, and a lovely wood burning stove that we were able to boil water on for hot cocoa. Being actually in Packwood, the power was back on by morning and as the sun was rising, we were greeted by elk roaming in the backyard. The kitchen had plenty of tools for cooking and the open layout was great for spending time with each other. I highly appreciated having the washer and dryer after the girls went through many clothes playing in the heaping piles of snow. I also appreciate the responsiveness of the host and the excellent shower pressure. We would definitely book again.
We had a great time! We loved the access to the river. Couldnt find the hatchet for chopping firewood though..
The description of the property is on point. The cabin is a well laid out A-frame home with a fully stocked kitchen, great wood burning fire place, and hot tub. Internet was definitely adequate and while we didn't turn on the tv, there were some dvd (and cd) options for movies or music.
We cooked in a couple meals and the kitchen worked out great. Unless you need something very specific or want to bring your chef knife, the house is well stocked.
The beds were comfortable (we used the loft room and the king bedroom room) and the 1.5 bathrooms was helpful to get both couples bathroom access at the same time.
We arrived and the property was clean and maintained and the instructions were easy to follow. We struggled for a few seconds with lights (I know someone else mentioned this) and then we figured it out a couple minutes later (not hard).
We ate at Sofies restaurant and had a good dinner there and then we went on a nice ~5 mile hike to Glacier Lake (about 30 minute drive). Other than that, we lounged, listened to music, played board games (we played one of the owners and brought our own options as well), cooked, ate, and slept. All was great and would be fun to come back.
I think it's a great place for a getaway from Portland or Seattle or a central place to launch & end a big hike in the nearby mountains. Place is very room for 4 people, fine for 6 people, but in my opinion would be tight for 10 people (unless its just a place to sleep).
One small negative: I wish the cleaning was included in the price. We left the place spotless including putting linens in wash and doing all the dishes, sweeping, etc and $100 seems expensive. I do realize that someone has to spend a bare minimum amount of time cleaning the place in-between guests and I'm sure other are not as tidy (we've rented our home before). Anyhow, it's minor, but it felt like the housekeeping requirements before leaving the cabin got the place 99% clean (in our experience) and therefore $100 seemed high for cleaning fee.
Again, we had a great stay, would come back again, we will recommend to friends, and everything was as advertised. Thank you!
Loved that the river was right off the backyard. We saw elk nearby a few times! Great place to relax. I'd like to visit again, maybe in warmer weather and bring the kids to enjoy.
Classic mountain type lodge with nicely decorated interior. Our kids loved many board games we discovered inside, and played one of them all the time.
Gas grill outside is good quality and size: we had delicious steak and salmon steak.
Hot tub with beer under the stars made evening particularly pleasant. Gazillion towels and extra bedsheets, pillow cases and stuff available if needed.
And washer/dryer in the basement was very handy as well after we spent a rainy day in Mt. Rainier national park.
Bottom line, this home provided us with everything to keep us comfortable.
Oh yeah, there's a collection of DVDs, some of them are oldish, but some are new or classic, we loved Madagascar and Batman Begins!
Mount Rainier National Park and Mount Saint Helen National park both at a 45 minutes drive.
White Pass ski resort 35 minutes away.
Cowlitz river a 1 minute walk away.
