About the property

BooTiki House is a vacation rental house built and furnished in fall of 2014 in Cape San Blas, Florida. The name comes from a combination of our beloved Axel's nickname "Boo", and the Tiki an ancient symbol of protection and good fortune.

The house is on the north end of the Cape where the sand is white, the water is blue and the sunsets are spectacular. It's a block away from the Tradin' Post and has deeded bay access.

Our quoted rates include all the fees except the pet fee. That's right! It includes the reservation fee, the cleaning fee, the insurance fee and the sales tax. Don't be fooled by people that give you the base rate and then add on a fee for this and that. The only extra fee is the pet fee.

BooTiki House Vacation Rental sits 1 house back from the beach in the Dolphin Beach to Bay subdivision about 1 mile north of the Trading Post. It's convenient to all the activities on the Cape. We have deeded access just steps away to the gulf and access to the bay. Ocean fun, bay sports and swimming, private fresh water pool, easy access to all the parks and hiking on the Cape is all right outside your door. At the end of day, you and your family can sit on the front deck and watch some of the most spectacular sunsets you will ever see.

Plus if you have someone in your family that has mobility issues BooTiki House Vacation Rental has an elevator, large open shower that will accommodate a wheelchair or just feel like a giant spa with multiple shower heads and access to all the common areas of the house. It is one of the few wheelchair accessible houses on the Cape.

We spent the off season of 2017 adding improvements to the house to make it more comfortable for your family. We added *a booster pump to the water system making the water pressure as good as our home

*we fenced in the back yard for your kids or pups. You can stay inside a fenvrf area from the pool all around the back yard.

*we moved the picnic table and charcoal grill to the patio area in the back

*we added a couple of fishing rod holders in the back yard

*we added a puppy bag dispenser to encourage other animal lovers to pick up after their fur babies

*we added a bar height table on the top deck which greatly improved the view of the ocean and the sunset while eating or just visiting outside

*we freshened up the place with some new pillow, shower curtains and bed spreads. We had some extra cleaning done to make sure everything is as enjoyable as possible for your family.

BooTiki House has:

+Spectacular views of the ocean from the 1st and 2nd floor. We sit one house back from the beach with easy access to the beach and the bay

+3 en suite bedrooms on the 2nd floor and 1 bunk room and bath with shower on the 3rd floor

+Private fresh water pool and screened shaded sitting with its own TV for you sports fans that want to watch a game while grillin’ or chillin’

+Fenced in yard that connects to the pool area. Kids and pups have space to run without worrying they'll run away. Just be careful the gates are latched.

+60 inch Samsung SMART TV in living room and each bedroom has either a Samsung or Visio SMART TV

+Sleeps 10 comfortably (2 in each bedroom on 2nd floor, 2 on queen size sofa on 3rd floor and 2 in bunk room on 3rd floor)

+Open 3rd floor plan with beautiful gourmet kitchen and GE stainless steel appliances

+Large elevator, roll in spa shower in the master bedroom, hallway and doors wide enough to allow access to all of the important gathering spots in the home

+We have access to the beach right out our front door and access to the Bay across from the main road. We love watching the birds on the bay and many people love the scallop fishing and other fishing on the bay.

To ensure a super vacation experience, we've signed with Pristine Properties as our Property Management Company. They will help with your reservation and anything that comes up regarding your stay!

That little extra touch:

We know that you are on vacation and that doesn't include having to clean the house before you can enjoy it. We've worked closely with Pristine Properties to ensure that everything is tidy and nice for your arrival. We also go the extra mile. We strip the beds and wash everything prior to your visit. We also wash the shower curtains before your stay. We do this at our expense just so the house is clean and comfortable for you and your family upon your arrival.

If we named our vacation home after our dog, you have to know we are dog lovers. The totem we had carved by a local artist has a carving of all our pups except our new girl named LuLu. It's a fun place to line up the family and take a picture and of course marks the entrance of our home.

We furnished the house to make it pet friendly. The floors are tile for each clean up. The furniture is durable but comfortable.

We added a booster water pump in the house so there will be plenty of water pressure in the house. You can actually run the wash, dishwasher and shower without worrying about the water pressure. That's something not many houses on the Cape can say. The water pressure out here can be a problem especially during high season when all the houses are occupied.

We hope we've thought of everything you'll need, but if we haven't we always invite our guests to text us directly with any problems. We want you to relax on your vacation and enjoy the peaceful beaches and other outdoor activities that drew us to this little slice of heaven!

About Rebecca O'Donnell

I vacationed in Panama City Beach with my family back in the late 60’s before the big condos were built in PCB. Mike and I met in college and migrated north building a life together.

We discovered scuba diving and spent several years touring the world but never found a beach that could hold a candle to all of that white sand and blue water.

In 2004, we were looking for a place we could have a family vacation that would also welcome my Mom’s dog. With the click of an internet search “dog friendly beach” we found Cape San Blas. And well as they say the rest is history.

We first couldn’t afford anything at all. Then we could only afford something really old, or really small or really far away from the beach. So why not build something that was just right. And from that decision came our dream beach house: BooTiki!

We hope that you can see the care and love we've put into this place (as well as our life's savings). We'd love to share this little slice of heaven with you.

Rebecca O'Donnell purchased this house in 2014

Why Rebecca O'Donnell chose Port St. Joe

If you can't tell from my writing, I'd say we're pretty practical people. A first tier home just a little bit back from beachfront is just a more practical choice. It's close enough to really enjoy the beach, but just far enough away from the sand and salt to enjoy being outside without all that grit.

We looked for a couple of years and found this lot for sale. Once we bought the lot we hired a builder drew up a set of plans that ticked off all our need to have's and many of our want to have's and started building.

What makes this house unique

Because the house is new; so are many of the furnishings in the house. I hope you can see the love and thought we put into each room. But we also tried to put a little fun into the house. You'll see the 1950's Tiki theme throughout with some reproduction pieces from that era as well as some authentic furnishings from that era.

We bought premium linens and mattresses, because who wants to sleep on a lumpy slumpy mattress.

When you sit on our sofa you don't feel like you're almost on the floor like those cheap and old sofas that many rentals have.

The 2nd floor bedrooms all walk out onto a beach facing deck and we put a little deck on the back of the house so you can enjoy the bay view.

The pool connects to a shaded screened area with an unobstructed view of the little ones playing in the water. You choose: full sun or shaded porch.

We tried to think of all the things we loved and hated about all the houses we've rented and built a house we hope you'll find comfortable, clean and well just right.

Nearest Beach
out side your front door
Car: recommended

There's a reason this area of Florida is called the "Forgotten Coast". Many people say it's like "Old Florida". Whatever you call it; we call it heaven on earth.

Building ordinances keep the high rises off the Cape making the beaches uncrowded and pristine. Don't forget the beach is dog friendly year round so bring those fur babies down and run on the beach or snooze on the deck. Whatever you do just keep those darlings on a leash.

Added this year to our house is a fully fenced in back yard. We are one of the few rentals that has a fenced yard where your babies can run free while you cook on the grill or sun at the pool.

With no crowds also comes peace and quiet. There are no big box stores on the Cape and indeed you have to drive into Port St Joe to the Piggly Wiggly for a full service grocery store, but there's everything you need on the Cape. Just around the corner from the Bootiki House is The Trandin' Post which is a grocery store, liquor store, ice cream / coffee shop and the best donuts ever if you get up early enough to buy the before they sell out! To the south is a beach supply shop, gas station and beach rental business.

The hiking and birding is outstanding and can be enjoyed by everyone. We have bald eagles in the area and nesting turtles on the beach.

There's a super walking bike path that parallels the main road. It is flat and runs the entire length of the Cape. My dog and I have had many great afternoons biking on the path. It's paved and just great for the experienced biker or runner and slow paced enough for someone that wants to slow down and smell the salt air.

Our house has deeded access to the bay. To me there's nothing more beautiful than sitting on the deck and watching the birds fly here and there. Of course if you fish you can down a few worms

or if braver than I wade into the water for a dip.

If you love nature, you'll love this spot.
