This cottage is a half mile off Highway 64 which goes right into the Grand Canyon National Park. The Park entrance is approximately 50 miles with no stop lights. The house is located on 2 acres of forested open range, has 2 bedrooms with a California king bed, a queen sized bed, & a double pull out sofa. There is baseboard heating, a living/dining area, kitchen, & bathroom. Coffee & to go breakfast food is provided as well as dishes & pots & pans for cooking. We are at an elevation of nearly 7,000 feet so plan accordingly.
Really, I'm just a normal retired senior & my mother's caregiver. I was born at the Ft Riley Army hospital but mostly grew up in southern California. We were a military family so we moved a lot before I was 8. Over the years I have lived in Kansas, Japan, New York, California, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington state, Georgia, & Arizona. I reside on the property where the cottage is located & will be available to answer questions or attend to problems.
JOHNNY CASPER purchased this cottage in 2016
This property is located in the largest continuous Ponderosa forest (yes, forest not desert) in the US. We fell in love with the area back when I was a little girl & we traveled Route 66 from California to Kansas. I still remember the spot in Flagstaff where we spent the night & the red sandstone hill behind the motel.
I love this area for the view of the valley, the wide variety of landscape, & the quiet. We locals are a strange mix of forward looking individuals & yet value our privacy more than city dwellers. We are often accused of being backward & old-fashioned because we are slow to accept changes to our life styles. Not to worry, we're all pretty friendly even if we are a bit reclusive. I personally like people.
Terry was an excellent guest. He left the cottage so clean all we had to do was minimal cleaning & restocking of provided items.
Pat's cottage was a wonderfully peaceful way to spend our short trip. She was kind and accommodating, despite the miserable experience we both had with VRBO's inability to fix the problems with their website. We would definitely stay again. It is worth noting that the last 1/2 mile to the cottage is on a packed dirt road that we had no problem navigating in a minivan.
My stay at Taste of the Old West was perfect from beginning to end. The booking process was smooth and all communications courteous and timely.
Directions and details were clear, and everything was very clean and tidy when I arrived. There was a welcome basket that was very welcome, as it contained snacks and drinks that really helped after a day of travel.
The beds were very comfortable, bathroom clean, and the kitchen stocked with everything I needed for self catering. The location is quiet, and I was able to relax there, as well as use the cabin as a base to explore the area.
Williams is a few miles away, and has plenty of restaurants and shops - the Grand Canyon is 45 mins away.
I would definitely come back to this lovely rental, and recommend this highly to travelers looking for a cabin close to to the Grand Canyon, while at an affordable rate.
