There is plenty to do in the area. With just a short hop over the bridge into the City of Palatka, you can enjoy the Palatka Golf Club-designed by Donald Ross and established in 1925, launch your boat at the brand new city marina, take a stroll around the Ravine Gardens State Park, or enjoy shopping in the historic downtown Palatka area while trying to view as many of the unique murals painted on the buildings as you can find. There are several unique dining options available as well. Or if you prefer, it is a short ride to Gainesville, Jacksonville, Orlando or the oldest city in the US--St Augustine.
Bring your camera and binoculars to catch sight of the various types of wildlife that come by the property. It is common to see alligators, hawks, turtles, manatees, bats and a wide variety of water fowl that inhabit the area.
Bring your boat and fishing tackle -- Putnam County is the premier Large-mouth Bass fishing spot in Florida. With either a scenic boat ride to Lake George (the 2nd largest fresh water lake in the state), you could be fishing for tonight's dinner or take a short ride over to Crescent Lake and enjoy the absolute BEST Bloody Mary's anywhere at the 3 Bananas Restaurant. There is no shortage of fun things to do here, so book your stay now.
**NOTE: During our recent brush with Hurricane Matthew, our dock was removed. We are tentatively scheduled to have the new and improved dock rebuilt sometime in April (we hope!). I will post updated pictures as things progress.

My husband and I have owned property in the Palatka area for the last 10 years. We recently acquired this house on the St. Johns River and totally fell in love with it. We have recently retired; my husband was with the Fire Department and I was a Police Communications Supervisor here in South Florida. We have served our community for many years and loved the work that we did. While we still have ties to our South Florida home, we cannot help being drawn to the quiet and friendly Northeast Florida culture that we found here in Palatka where just walking down the street, total strangers wave and say hi as they pass you by. It is a total departure from the hustle and bustle of Miami. We are so blessed to be able to have the opportunity to experience all the varied lifestyles that Florida has to offer.
Linda Bosque purchased this house in 2015
It is always amazing how different the view is from the panoramic windows of this beautiful home. One day you are looking out across the waterway at a lightning storm and the next, the skies are crystal clear blue, sometimes during the space of a few hours. It is the most beautiful and awesome sight and we would like to share I with you. They call it "God's Country" here and it is so true. We have always loved the water... sailing, power boats, fishing, shrimping, diving, swimming and snorkeling; so it is no wonder that this place is such a perfect fit for us. Also, we love the distinct change of seasons that you get here in Northern Florida (mind you, without all the snow). It allows us to use the fireplace once in a while, and really enjoy that afternoon 2.5 mile roundtrip walk/jog over the bridge spanning the St. Johns River. It is breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful here. The varied wildlife is amazing and a joy to watch.
It was so quiet a peaceful I would live there the house was wonderful and clean and every thing you would want fishing was great and We will be back soon and stay longer Claudia wilson
My wife and I stay for 3 nights. Had a great time. The home is beautiful. Very very clean. The view is amazing. The owner does a great job keeping the home in Great shape.
We had a great time. Visited St Augustine. Very relaxed atmosphere. Great food. Couldn't have had a better time. Linda was great to communicate with.
My husband and I spent 5 nights here. The house is even more beautiful than the pictures depict. The view from the living room is gorgeous. It looks right out to the river. The open, covered back porch is a perfect spot for reading or just taking in the view. Hubby fished every day off the bank and dock of the property. Although he didn't catch much, he still enjoyed trying. We saw some wildlife (gators, several species of birds and even an otter in the canal).
The Linda, the owner, was a joy to work with and made the whole process easy. She checked in with us to be sure we had everything we needed. She also returned our security deposit right away. The house is beautifully decorated. The entire house was well stocked down to laundry supplies and essentials in the kitchen, such as spices, cooking oil, coffee, etc. All you need to provide are groceries for your meals. There is a Wal-Mart and Publix across the bridge in Palatka.
Gainesville is an hour away, so we went to the Santa Fe Teaching Zoo one day (our youngest daughter is in the program there training to be a zoo keeper), and went to Ravine Gardens one day, but mostly just relaxed at the house. This was the most laid back vacation I have ever had. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful.
Thank you Linda for sharing your beautiful home with us. We would like to return in the future and would definitely recommend this rental property.
This was a great place. We enjoyed it a lot. A very pretty place. We will be calling soon to book again.
My husband and I spent 6 days in this lovely home and the first 2 days we just sat in the living room enjoying the lovely views out the big windows. We did not even turn the TV on. My 2 sons came to see us and had a blast catching blue crabs. The place is magical and better then we expected. We would definitely rent this lovely home again.
Thank You Linda
