PORT ROYAL lies in the heart of a biologically rich estuarine ecology. Visitors come from all over to experience and explore what native South Carolinians have come to know as the Lowcountry. What makes the Lowcountry special? A lot, but from an environmental perspective it’s the ability to explore many different land types including salt marsh, forestland, brushland, fallow field and freshwater ponds. In combination, these habitats support a diversity of bird and plant life. Bird wildlife commonly observed include waterfowl, shorebirds, wading birds, raptors, and neo-tropical migrants, with large concentrations of white ibis, herons, and egrets.

I, along with three of my best friends, stayed at the Old Port Royal Cottage during my wedding weekend in October. Everything was absolutely perfect all the way around! From the inside being brand new to the fire pit out back, we enjoyed every second of our time there. So much so we are renting it again in April for my brother's wedding. The owners are wonderful people and very accommodating. I would highly recommend staying there to anyone - you will not be disappointed!

We had a wonderful time. The house suited us well and was very convenient for us to get to Parris Island for our sons Graduation.
The owners of this home are so sweet and accommodating! Alice showed us around her house, was very organized, and even had a binder full of local favorites to eat. We were in Port Royal for my cousins graduation from Parris Island and it was the perfect location for this. I loved the decor and how cozy it felt. My family and I had a great time in this home and made a lot of great memories! We will definitely be coming back!
A wonderful home. We received a warm welcome and felt at home right away. If we are in the area I would contact Alice for the opportunity to relax in her home again.
My wife went with her family for our daughter's Marine Corps graduation. It is close to the base and beach. Alice communicates very quickly and the home is perfect. I could elaborate on and on but perfect is perfect. Great experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful sands cottage. The owners were amazing to say the least, and they have thought of everything you could possibly need and then some. We have stayed in many rental homes but this one tops the cake. We will return next year! The Mitchell's
My family had a wonderful time. The house was really nice. It was perfect for a family of five. Very close to the beach and boardwalk. Beaufort and Port Royal have lots to do and nice places to shop. We loved doing a clam and crab boil in the back yard. This is definitively a home I would rent again.
The beach is within walking distance, as well as local restaurants and shops. Located within minutes of Parris Island, Lady's Island and downtown Beaufort. This house is on a quiet street in a very nice neighborhood! Paris Avenue (the main street of the Old Village) periodically hosts Street Music events throughout the year. Port Royal also hosts an annual soft shell crab festival in late April and a community oyster roast in late October.
The hurricane scene from the 1994 film Forrest Gump was filmed in the town's dock area.
