Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Mariposa - Sunny Pines Cottage

4 Beds, 3 Baths, Sleeps 8

Sunny Pines provides comfortable sleeping for up to 4 couples. The three bedrooms all have queen beds, each with sumptuous bedding, and there are three dedicated bathrooms. In addition the living room has a queen sleeper sofa.

The house includes two living rooms, one with a big screen TV, CD and DVD player, and access to streaming Netflix and Pandora, the other has a gas fireplace and cozy breakfast nook. A recently tuned baby grand piano sits in the living room. There is plenty of comfortable seating in both rooms.

The formal dining room seats eight and the fully equipped kitchen is available for meal preparation if you choose to eat in. Plenty of pots and pans, dishes, glasses and flatware, as well as microwave, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker and grinder, electric kettle, and a rice cooker.

Enjoy the spacious deck on two levels that includes a gas BBQ grill, seating for ten, as well as lounge chairs. Perfect for dining or star gazing.

All linens, towels and paper products are included, as well as hygiene products. A washer and dryer are on the premises if you need them. WiFi is free and consistently good.

In addition to the amazing sights in the national park, the Yosemite and Mariposa areas boast many available activities, including fishing, golfing, zip lines, craft beer, back road explorations and wine tasting, shopping, fine dining, rafting and in the winter months skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating. Mariposa is about a 15 minute drive, while Oakhurst is about 20. Both have full service grocery stores, pharmacies and restaurants.

Sunny Pines Cottage is located on a beautiful 30+ acre parcel bordering the Sierra National Forest, located equidistant between the two southern most entrances to Yosemite National Park. Nestled between the mountain town of Oakhurst and the historic mining town of Mariposa, this spot is the perfect base camp for exploring in and around the National Park. Since the entrance fee is good for 7 days the ideal experience is to use both on successive days. Otherwise a loop gives you a good overview. We have lots of information on what to do in the Park as well as in the surrounding vicinity if you decide to stay with us.

On the grounds, explore the wonderful seasonal stream that cascades down the mountainside from the National Forest as well as a nice variety of natural landscapes, native sites and wildlife on our hiking trails. Our creek is flowing vigorously after all the recent rains!

Once you spend some time here, you will be thinking about planning your return visit!

About Jane Huffaker

We purchased this house to live in while we built our dream home on the 22 acres next door. Now that we have achieved that goal we are ready to share our beautiful setting with visitors to the Yosemite area. Our aim is to make your stay as comfortable and care free as possible.

Jane Huffaker purchased this house in 2012

Why Jane Huffaker chose Yosemite

Our property abuts the Sierra National Forest, so hiking and exploring is virtually limitless.

We are situated between two Park entrances and two gateway towns, so opportunities for local activities are doubled!

What makes this house unique

For the musically inclined, there is a recently tuned baby grand piano in the living room.

Great place for Families or up to 3 couples.

Sunny Pines has plenty of room and all the amenities. The owners, Richard and Jane came to greet us and were a wealth of knowledge, dining, Yosemite hikes, even the local Merced River swimming holes. They even "arranged" for deer to greet us every morning and evening!

Beautiful property, comfortable house, fantastic hosts!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here a few days while sight seeing in the area. We loved it. We were greeted by Jane and Richard when we arrived. They were fantastic to deal with. The home was clean, well maintained and nicely decorated, we felt very comfortable. We enjoyed watching the wildlife, deer and momma quail and her babies. At night time we enjoyed a nightly family game of Scrabble, and outside the stars were stunning. The entire family agreed we loved the place and would most certainly stay here again.

Very Satisfied!!!

  • 5 of 5

Jane and her husband were very informative and hospitable, they even printed material for near by hikes and attractions and made themselves available to us during our entire stay. The first day we arrived Jane met us at the front door and showed us around the property and answered all our questions and left us with some yummy breakfast goodies.

The property itself was very spacious and provided ample room for our family of 6. It was like being home as we used the amenities such as the full kitchen were we made breakfast and dinner everyday of our stay. Everything is well maintained and in perfect working order. She even provides extra linnens, jackets (yes, jackets!), coffee, etc. If you want to eat out or head to the supermarket the next town of Oakhurst has plenty of options and it's only 20 minutes away. We used the tv (Netflix) and Internet connection for music daily.

Yosemite gate is about an hour away, be sure to bring a camera to capture the beauty and memories. This was one of the best and memorable family trips we've made and a lot of it had to do with the comfortable stay we had here. Highly recommended for anyone!!!

Excellent property with nice antique decor

  • 5 of 5

We arrived very late night to this place, Thanks to the owners to be patient enough and greet us to give the keys so late at night and also helping us with places to visit. We loved Sunny Pines. It is well decorated with antique touch everywhere. The house is very spacious. The 3rd bedroom is small but perfect for kids. It has its own microwave and coffee maker.

There is plenty of parking space and Mariposa Market place is just 15 minutes drive. Perfect for long relaxing stay with all possible amenities required 'including a piano' for music enthusiast. I would definitely consider this place whenever I am back to Yosemite.

Charming, private, perfect

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Sunny Pines was exactly the restful getaway we needed. The house with its adjoining apartment is very spacious (it could easily house 8), nicely and comfortably furnished and really makes you feel like you've gotten away from it all. From a cozy fireplace in the family room to star-watching on the patio, from dinners in the large kitchen to hikes on the property's 30 acres, this rental has something for everyone. We especially loved the apartment which was lovingly furnished and felt like a snug bungalow. Our friends loved the "big house," because of all the amenities (fully stocked kitchen, two living areas, big screen TV).

Jane and Richard are the consummate hosts, giving us pointers on the house, the surrounding towns and of course, Yosemite. They really know the area (including a really cool coffee roastery and how to find the best wine and beer tasting places) and can hook you up with food, art and music venues nearby. The house is located midway between two entrances to Yosemite, so you've got great options for getting to the park. Also cool that the property backs up to the Sierra National Forest, so even at the rental, you really feel like you're a part of the park.

I am so glad we chose to stay at Sunny Pines. We'll definitely be going back! We can highly recommend it as a great place to stay the next time you're planning to visit the area.

The accomodations are excellent. It was warm and homey - and the surroundings were surreal. Just fell in love with the area. Planning a return visit in the near future. The hosts made us feeling so welcome and the food was perfect. Ambiance was a definite plus. The trip to Yosemite was breathtaking.
