Established in 1911 by presidential proclamation, Devils Postpile National Monument protects and preserves the Devils Postpile formation, the 101-foot high Rainbow Falls, and pristine mountain scenery. The formation is a rare sight in the geologic world and ranks as one of the world's finest examples of columnar basalt. Its columns tower 60 feet high and display an unusual symmetry.

If you combine the two, you will get to see a beautiful alpine meadow, a hexagonal columnar lava flow, a 100 foot waterfall, ride a gondola and a 400 mile view of the Eastern Sierra Nevadas and still have time to go fishing or play a round of golf.

This was our 2nd trip to Mammoth and our first stay at the Mammoth Mountain Chalets. Booked our stay through the website with no problems and the owner of the chalet, John Stiegler, was uber-responsive and helpful in answering all of my questions prior to our trip.
Once we arrived, Dale and Romie got us set up in our chalet in a matter of minutes (which is no small matter given we are a family of five). In addition to just being super nice people, during our stay, they were very responsive to any questions we had and did much to acquaint us with what was available for our enjoyment in the area. The cabin itself was spacious and plush. Another family joined us, bringing our total number to 9, and it accommodated us perfectly. We loved being close to lifts and being able to visit the Inn and even grab the shuttle into the Village from where we were.
Needless to say, it was our first trip to the Chalets but it definitely won't be our last. Usually a trip is filled with one or two hickups along the way, but not this one. In fact, my kids were already asking me when we were coming up again as we were heading down the mountain. I really can't say enough about how smoothly everything went except only how John, Dale, and Romie helped make this one of our best family vacations yet!
Great place with excellent location for skiers and for pets. We will definitely book again when we return. Thanks for a great week!
Second year into the Eastern Sears amazing trip. Rented unit 23 perfect for 4 people easliy could accommodate 9. Jim and Kelli were great hosts help giving us inside to the local areas from restaurants , fishing to off road areas.
Awesome accommodations. Pet friendly was a bonus for us. Had a fantastic memorable time.
This was our second year staying at the Chalets in Mammoth and I didn't even think it'd be possible to have a better experience than the year prior, but we most certainly did! You truly can't beat the location and the chalets are extremely comfortable. The management (Kelli and Jim) is super friendly and helpful every step of the way. I would recommend staying there to anyone looking to have an awesome time on the mountain.
We absolutely loved our experience at the chalet. Kelli and Jim took great care of us and it was an ideal time for our family. Can't wait to go back.
